A brief update. For those interested in looking into more on the poster
and ashcan for "The Greatest American Hero," you can visit Catastrophic
Comics on their site. They are apparently selling the posters, but I do
not know about the ashcan. If you watch the interview of Katt or Culp
at Comic Con, however, you can see a couple of pictures on the poster
backdrop (I'm posting both so people can get both insights. ;) ):

Culp: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/news/articles/4891.asp

Katt: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/news/articles/4890.asp

************************************

Now, I'm just waiting to see if we'll ever hear anything from "TGAH
2008" again. I'd just like to know if we'll see all of the first
episode or not (just a statement either way), given it's been over a
month now since part one and there have been a couple of questions
about it).

I have a snippit of Willian and connie at the San Diago comic Con from
the TV Guide Channel on my DVR and I was floored... I am keeping that
sucker for a while...

As to the poster... Could someone order me one? I am not able to order
one direct right now due to recent doctors visits and other bills... I
would gladly send them 25 dollars around the 18th.. I will be offline
for a few days as I will be going to high speed online through Time
warner Cable... Once I get all set up and Bills paid off, then I should
be fine...

Let me know... I will be on for an hour as I will be at the library for
some of the afternoon tomorrow...

Until them... Keep flying everyone....

Pamela

A colleague found this the other day, and thought I'd share it. The
interview goes into detail with the "GAH" comic and animated shorts as
well as "Sparks" and mentions "Mythology Wars," which isn't quite out yet.

Plus, it also brings insight to a few other issues that people talk
about in regards to the show, such as why Katt chose not to continue
in 1986. Enjoy

HELLO GUYS,

I'm sending you this poem. Forget the first part of it, its really not
appropriate but the second part is so true. We lose contact and days turn into
months, months into years and you know the rest.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Read
Alone.....

Especially the Poem

I believe whatever is in store for

us will be for us.

The poem is very true, unfortunately.

Make sure you read the poem!

CASE 1: Kelly Sedey had one wish,

for her boyfriend of three years,

David Marsden, to propose to her.

Then one day when she was out

to lunch David proposed!

She accepted, but then had to leave

because she had a meeting in 20 min.

When she got to her office,
! !
she noticed on her computer she had some e-mail's.

She checked it, the usual stuff

from her friends, but then she saw one

that she had never gotten before.

It was this poem. She simply deleted it

without even reading all of it.

BIG MISTAKE! Later that evening,

she received a phone call from the

police

It was about DAVID! He had been in an accident

with an 18 wheeler. He didn't survive!

CASE 2: Take Katie Robinson She received this poem

and being the believer that she was

she sent it to a few of her friends but

didn't have enough e-mail addresses to send out

the full 5 that you must.

Three days later, Katie went to a masquerade ball.

Later that night when she left to get to her car,

she was killed in that spot by a

hit-and-run drunk driver.

CASE 3: Richard S. Willis sent this poem out

within 45 minutes of reading it.

Not even 4 hours later walking along the street

to his new job interview with a really big company, !

when he ran into Cynthia Bell,

his secret love for 5 years. Cynthia came up to him

and told him of her passionate crush on him

that she had had for 2 years.

Three days later, he proposed to her and they got married..

Cynthia and Richard are still married

with three children, happy as ever!

This is the poem:

Around the corner I have a friend,

In this great city that has no end,

Yet the days go by and weeks rush on,

And before I know it, a year is gone.

And I never see my old friends face,

For life is a swift and terrible race,

He knows
I like him just as well,

As in the days when I rang his bell.

And he rang mine but we were younger then,

And now we are busy, tired men.

Tired of playing a foolish game,

Tired of trying to make a name.

'Tomorrow' I say! 'I will call on Jim

Just to show that I'm thinking of him.'

But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes,

And distance between us grows and grows.

Around the corner, yet miles away,

'Here's a telegram sir,' 'Jim died today.'

And that's what we get and deserve in the end.

Around the corner, a vanished friend.

Remember to always say what you mean.

If you
love someone, tell them.

Don't be afraid to express yourself.

Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.

Because when you decide that it is the right time it might

be too late.

Seize the day. Never have regrets

And most importantly, stay close to your friends

and family, for they have helped

make you the person that you are today.

You must send this on in 3 hours after reading the letter

to 10 other people (not the person who sent it to you) .

If you do this, you will receive unbelievably good luck.

*NOTE*

the more people that you send this to, the better

luck you will have.

SMILE, even through your

tears!!!!!

They had a little get together yesterday at a SAG event. It was a
"GAH" retrospective/anniversary group with Katt, Connie, Culp, Dennis,
Michael Pare, SJC and others. Don't know yet when there'll be any news
about it (the event took a bit to set up), but if/when I find it I'll
post it up.

I thought that I would do some scanning of the internet for the best
pictures of William Katt and of the Greatest American Hero. I found
quite a bit and got quite a few up.

I added stuff from the dreadful Greatest American Heroine as she IS
part of the series no matter how much we die hards for Ralph, Bill, and
Pam hate it. I hope to get up more shots before Halloween... Please
come on by and check it out..

I was even able to find a capture of William in that ugly verson of the
suit at the TV Land Awards...

I hope to finish my first story in a matter of days... I am just trying
to take the stress off of waiting for the comic book to be released...

Take care all and keep flying...

I noticed that, but had a couple of suggestions, such as if you don't
have permission from the fans who were posing with Katt that they are
removed because some people can complain about that.

Also, in the case of the suit for the TV land awards - they were doing
a quick mock up because he was going to be in it only a brief time.
Even I agree it could've been done better (they liked the spaceboot
idea I see), but still, it wasn't as bad as save a couple I've seen in
recent times (i.e. the two that Morgan Hathaway appeared in - two
different actresses - in the failed "TGAH 2008" production)

BTW... Did any of you get one of the suits from 80s Tees this year? I
had to as my 2 1/2 year old niece was ill all week with the flu.. The
one I got is soo much better then my old one... The suit is much better
made, no loose threads or anything like that.. It even has washing
instructions inside the shirt too.. The Cape is far superior then the
one I got a few years ago...

My mom took some shots of me in it but I have to figure out how to get
them off my digital camera...

Hope everyone has a good week and hope that the comics come out soon..

I'm REALLY not a fan of the show.

No surprise that a GAH reference was made -- the formula of Family Guy is to
arbitrarily ape something from old pop culture and pretend that it's a witty
gag.

Lame. Lame. Lame. Lame. Lame. Lame.

It's sad that GAH has finally been exploited by those hacks.

The problem is the more popular the show, the more the companies
producing it keep eyes out for those uploading it everywhere. Dislike
the sporadic way it's handled, but at the same time, I understand.

This goes true with distribution issues, i.e. international sales.
Simply put - if people can watch it for free on YouTube, why bother
purchasing the airing rights from the company to use them on the channels?

"Doctor Who" is a key example - the current run is constantly removed
from their site because if anyone around the world can watch it for
free online, what makes companies such as Sci-Fi want to purchase it
from the BBC to air it? They could use the money instead to produce
another series or air another show in that spot (which is a premium
time slot where they've placed "Doctor Who.")

That said, the BBC does use it to their advantage, and have their own
YouTube group to post up teasers for episodes and exclusives - even if
they've made it where sometimes only those in the BBC broadcast region
can see it.

Even I complain about YouTube, such as how heavy handed they were with
some of my comments about baiting going on with the now-defunct "TGAH
2008" project members or how they will not remove the five minutes
because in a way it's spam (It's misleading in how it's supposedly a.
a continuation of the original "GAH" and b. there more than likely
will never be the rest of the story.) But, I understand that if it's a
choice of either running the clip and possibly facing a lawsuit or
just simply removing it, it'll be removed.

Well...

If the video companies would release the shows the way we REMEMBER them
then we would not need You Tube. "My Hero's" Music clip was back on You
Tube for a VERY short Run then it got pulled again... UGH it makes me
sick! If the studios would just give us what we want then maybe I will
shut up.. For now I will not shut up about what the companies are doing
by cheapining everything... I am taking a stand agienst VIACOM and the
WB by not buying anything from them... Any other company that does any
major pulls like that will be treated the same way...

We should have made our voices heard before TGAH got released to DVD...
If I knew that all the covers were going to be removed before hand I
don't think I would have bothered to buy them...

I wonder if it would have made a difference? Either way... I am
sticking to my guns and not taking it anymore....

Then by all means please protest this - but do it to the right
companies.

Simply put, WB and Viacom are NOT the reason why covers of songs are
replaced - it's the fact that the MUSIC industry charges so damn much
for the covers. The reason they did this was that recording artists
were complaining about groups such as Napster that were allowing free
downloads of songs (copyright infringement) - meaning the
singers/rappers were not getting a cut. Unfortunately, the lawsuits
regarding that issue made it where now the companies charge more to
make sure they get every penny of the money for the songs' use.

The costs are quite high, and if the costs are going to make charging
for the DVDs to the point that no one can buy them (as I've mentioned
before, the Japanese ones are approximately at least $70 *each*),
they're going to have to replace songs.

Now, do I like it? - no, but I understand. But, it's not fair to
blame the film companies for their decisions entirely.

Also - to anyone here - did we even really know ahead of time "GAH"
was going to be released or predicted to be released? I personally
didn't know it would be until they were. Besides - from what I've
seen, unless they say they are "Original" and "Complete" on TV, I do
not have grounds to complain if they changed the music. I take into
account that they might possibly be.

I grew up watching this show same as a lot of people here. To me,
even with the songs replaced the meaning of the show still remains -
it's the way I remember them with Ralph, Pam and Bill all facing
danger and saving the day. The music was secondary to me - even now
save "EOD" and the songs cut from "Classical Gas." IMHO, the studio
gave me what I wanted - to see Ralph flying again.

YouTube I think was a way for people to actually share shows from
around the world that are normally not aired in other countries (i.e.
season five of the New Zealand series "The Tribe" and "A New
Tomorrow") so people could be enlightened as to what people see as
entertainment in other parts of the world. It to to me is more than
just to highlight shows from the good old days.

(And trust me - one person protesting WB (who own the very popular
series "Smallville" alone) and VIACOM will not make an impact.

All I am going to say is you can try, but I have to admit it'll be a
challenge if they'll do anything about it. This goes double given
they don't have to cater to our demands and *give* us any of the
episodes on DVD. If so, I think some would love to have "Hotel" on
DVD as it's got Connie Sellecca in it - who has by far the least of
her work released as far as the actors on "GAH." ;) *(see below)

What I WOULD suggest is, instead of focusing on the companies, that
you expand your protest letters to the music industry, because as I
said - it's not just the film groups doing this. It's not fair to
*just* blame them for the DVDs being released with different music.

Sometimes, given the choice between either paying our very greedy
music industry IMHO way more than due on royalties and raising the
cost of the DVDs to for most of the general public absurd amounts to
purchase or replacing the music, it's easier to replace the music. I
know it bothers some, but it does me save on the episodes "Operation:
Spoilsport" and "Classical Gas" where music was pivotal as far as the
plot.

* (BTW, more I think about it - why are you complaining about WB and
Viacom as far as "GAH" is concerned? They're not to blame - nor
frankly neither is Anchor Bay, who put the "GAH" packages together.)

Yes, there was build-up time on the releases (I pre-ordered season one a couple
of months in advance iirc, and knew it was coming some time before that), but I
don't think anyone knew about the song changes until we actually saw the
product. It was a disappointment, but the video quality was still worth the
price -- episodes recorded from cable were already on the web (YouTube and it's
ilk are making people lazy and net-illiterate), but they were VHS resolution and
quality.

Record companies have always been a problem. The Napster debacle was just the
latest example of their abuses. I've been glad to see artists bypassing the
record companies in recent years to sell their work direct through the internet,
but it's no help for all the material already controlled by the old publishers.
