I should add that I know Collazo did contact Cannell because when I sent a
question to their group, Joan there responded that he had contacted them and
said that they were doing a parody. Unfortunately, it was more of a relaunch of
the series, where he gave no credit to the creator of the "GAH" Franchise.

For those who may be wondering - yes, I"m beating a dead horse here and will
drop it. I just didn't want Zanca's production to get mixed up with the one from
last year - especially if there is a chance they'll be doing at least one (Well,
they should at least give a conclusion to the cliffhanger they gave ;) ) or two
more stories.

Cool, thanks. I found the interview here for those who are interested:

http://www.meetup.com/sci-fi-writers/boards/thread/7548734/

In my mind it doesn't really make the series any more "official" than the
TGAH 2008 series, but it's nice to know that Cannell can be reasonable if
approached.

I would point out that all these fan-created series are doing exactly what I
would like to see the license owners do with it--creating new stories. I'm
disappointed that I have to go to fan sites to get that, because Cannell
seems primarily interested in retelling the original story as a movie,
retelling the original story as a comic book, etc. I suppose that makes a
certain amount of sense when introducing a largely forgotten franchise to a
new generation, but still and all, I'm disappointed.

Still waiting for that official animated Web series that was announced over
a year ago....

There's an interview on their site that has Frank Zanca tell the story as to how
their endeavor came to be. He said clearly that he asked SJC and the other
fellow who has the official rights to make a "GAH" movie for permission to do
the production. They agreed on the conditions that the show stay on the Internet
and NO money be made from the production.

Given that Zanca too is a well-known director, I doubt he'd not adhere to that
promise. That's also why you see their front page for the "GAH" production
covered in links to Cannell's site. Cannell - of course, wouldn't associate
himself with it only because he sees it as a fan production, not a real one.
This has some issues to do with SAG and such, but I will digress because that's
another ball of wax.

Trust me, if Zanca was pulling a Collazo and trying to profit off of this or
pulling the same stunts Collazo did with "TGAH 2008," I'd be reaming him up one
side and down another to the point someone would PM our mods here to send me a
note to get me to shut up. (This BTW did happen in regard to "TGAH 2008," but
sadly - I was exactly right on my comments.)

(SIGH) I don't know... But I am not waiting around to find out... My father
passed this summer and I am helping out my Mom for now... I would not be one bit
suprised if even more was removed if this company takes over... I have not
watched the DVD's I have in at least 8 months as I found out that greenguy was
sidedswiped by the SENSLESS REMOVAL of some of the Covers RE EVE etc... I found
a SLEW of the shows on You Tube in another language with the original tunes..
Check out my Williamkatt81 page there in a few days.. I will put it up for you
all to access since YT changed things there...

I'm curious where this information about this series having Cannell's
blessing is coming from. The StaytunedTV site explicitly states, "This
series is in no way affiliated with the Cannell Company." Also, Cannell.com
has no mention of this series anywhere (although admittedly given their

Count me out on buying any other cannell releases from Mill creak... I saw what
they sell on that site and I am NOT impressed... Somehow I get the feeling that
Cannell does not even care enough about his own shows to get them released the
right way... I have one season of Rockford Files and the prints are faded and
print are dirty... Since then I have spent more time on You tube and doing
things to help my mom work through the loss of her husbend... Cannell may want
to go Cheep in terms of his shows but some of his FANS do not... Keep us posted
as to wether it could be true or not...

I agree with the fellow who mentioned "The Wild Wild West" - the releases are
excellent as is the first season of "Hotel" for those Connie Sellecca fans out
there. ;)

I have begun to wonder - given that it's being mentioned that SJC apparently is
treating ALL his shows in the same manner - that maybe he has ADD and not know
it. He seems to be very flighty about the shows and gets interested in one for a
time, then switch to another when something new and cool comes up.

When I think about it - this makes me wonder it more given that the last time
I've heard anything with SJC and "GAH" in the same breath was the
StayTunedTV.net version of the series. Do wonder if Frank Zanca and company have
had a chance to chat with him since...

... And, does anyone thing it's possible SJC is trying to get that series out on
DVD because it in turn would give him some royalties? Afterall, StayTuned's page
for the show is almost literally nothing but ads to his site (BTW, StayTuned's
series is not like Collazo's "TGAH 2008" which didn't have Cannell's blessing
and is NOT making money off of it - per agreement).

Beating the dead horse yet again (sorry), it just KILLS ME to see how cheaply
Cannell treats his OWN FRIGGIN' MATERIAL that HE HIMSELF created.

Such a shame, especially for such a great show, but then he treats all his shows
equally (poorly) in this manner, so I guess it should come as no surprise that
GAH gets the same...

Just did some quick research..this is a cheapo company that sells whole
seasons for $15.00 a season.

Expect the music to be stripped, 5-6 episodes per DVD.seriously compressed.
4 is the max you can fit with full quality.

It's a shame Cannell did not work with CBS. Their "Wild, Wild West"
releases continue to astound in near-HD quality, as the Cannell shows look
cheaper and cheaper.have you rented the "Silk Stalkings" DVD's from NetFlix?
ABYSSMAL! Blurry as all heck.

It's funny, because Cannell warns about bootleggers on his website, yet he
is the biggest bootlegger of them all!

We'd like all fans to be aware that bootleg low quality incomplete copies of
Cannell shows are often sold on the Internet by video pirates. To make sure
your collection is complete and high quality, always purchase your DVDs at
the authorized retailers that we have listed on this website.

"Low quality" and "incomplete" are hallmarks of Stephen's releases.

It's as though he'd never seen his own shows.music was so critical to them.

I hope he sobbed himself to sleep the nights he released the butchered
season one's of TGAH, Hunter, and 21 Jump Street.

Rich

One of Cannell's greatest fans from the old days.and biggest detractors of
today.

Save the replacement of a couple of songs that really had a major relevance to
the stories, i.e. "Eve," "Beautiful Morning" and "Rocket Man" I have to admit
most of the changes didn't bother me. The latter two bother me because there had
to be better indie songs: One of those even implies the green guys are saying to
Ralph and Bill they love them (that "You Saved the Day" bit).

The one thing I'll concede on "Eve" was they at least got a song that matched
the storyline ("End of the World"). That said, if they were going to change it,
they should've found a way to avoid having Ralph mention hearing "Eve of
Destruction" on the radio.

Come to think about it - this bugs me: On TV shows, you pay a royalty even
mentioning a brand name. It's one reason you see shows on mTV and VH1 plaster
the brand all over the place. So... did this mean SJC had to pay a royalty to
have Ralph say "EoD" and if so, why didn't he push to have them include the USE
of the song in the fee?

Ironically, the one change that I would never had known occurred had it not been
mentioned was "Pinball Wizard." And personally, I like the replacement music
better than the original in the scene.

I'm looking forward to it too; however, I'd still rather they not rush things. I
have heard ideas bantered about before - some from SJC himself, that wouldn't be
as true to the show. "The A-Team" too right now is suffering a similar problem.

To me, if it's going to be way contradictory to the original show (i.e. "The
Wild Wild West") then I'd rather leave it to the animated shorts, comic and TV
series. Better to keep the lightning in the jar instead of transferring it to
another one - a bit messy and can shatter the dazzlement of what we've come to
grow with and love.

(And thanks for the response Pam - I was beginning to think no one read the
boards here anymore).

Also, wanted to mention that so far the movie idea is still going - no plans to
drop it yet. Now, I just hope that they try to get it close to the series in
content - I'd much rather not see something like "Bewitched" or "The Wild Wild
West" turned out to be.

Something like "Maverick" which was VERY close to the way the show appeared each
week would work. In the movie version, "Maverick" kept that tongue in cheek
humor and in jokes to others shows (a couple of their eps parodied characters
from "Bonanza" and "Gunsmoke" (the "Maverick" ep was called "Gun Shy" I believe
too) it was famous for and it worked. It didn't try to totally rework the
formula, which you saw on movies such as the two I first mentioned. Even
"Charlie's Angels" kept a lot of the same formula from the original series.

This was posted on the "GAH" messageboard, but I wanted to pass this along to
you.

Stephen J. Cannell and William Katt have teamed up with March of Dimes to
release the first ever trading card of the beloved television series Greatest
American Hero. This product will also be all sketch cards and the proceeds from
the sales go to March of Dimes, too.

Right now, we don't know if it'll just be sketches based on the comic books or
if it'll include things such as the animated shorts or the actual original
series, but it looks like more's on the way. I also don't know if it's just
Cannell and Katt who are working on this or if Connie and Culp will also be
having a hand in it.

One thing I'd think would be neat would be to have all those of the original
cast who are participating to possibly do a doodle sketch for fun (signing them)
and maybe have a limited number of prints made of the doodles and placed in
random packs (this mind you if they're doing them as packs and not individual
cards).

Also, from what I'm hearing they're going to do an animated cartoon of "GAH,"
but I do not know if this is in addition to the shorts or will be in lieu of the
shorts. Plus, there is the off chance however that it's neither and just a
rumor.

The
proud warriors of Baker Company wanted to do something to pay tribute To our
fallen comrades So since we are part of the only Marine Infantry Battalion left
in Iraq the one way that we could think of doing that is By taking a picture of
Baker Company saying the way we feel. It would be awesome if you could find a
way to share this with our fellow countrymen. I
was wondering if there was
any way to get this into your papers to let the world know that 'WE HAVE NOT

THOSE BORN 1920-1979

READ TO THE BOTTOM FOR QUOTE OF THE MONTH BY JAY LENO. IF YOU DON'T READ
ANYTHING ELSE---VERY WELL STATED

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were
pregnant.

They took asp irin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get
tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs
covered with bright colored lead-based paints.

We  had no child proof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when
we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took
hitchhiking.

As infants &  children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, booster seats,
seat belts or air bags..

Riding in the back of a pick up on20a warm day was always a special treat.

We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle.

We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually
died from this.

We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank Kool-aid made with sugar,
but we weren't overweight because,

WE WERE ALW AYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!

We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back
when the streetlights came on.

No one was able to reach us all day.And we were OK.

We  would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down
the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes After run ning into  the bushes
a few times, we learned to solve the problem.

We  did not have Playstations, Nintendo's, X-boxes, no video games at all,no
150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's, no surround-sound  or CD's, no
cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet or=2 0chat rooms......
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits
from these accidents.

We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us
forever.

We  were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks  and
tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not  poke out
very many eyes.

We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the
bell, or just walked in and talked to them!

Little  League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't
had  to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!

The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They
actually sided with the law!

These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers
and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL
WITH IT ALL!

If YOU are one of them CONGRATULATIONS!

You  might want to share this with others who have had the luck to grow up  as
kids, before the lawyers and the government regulated so much of our   lives
for our own good .

While you are at it, forward it to your kids so they will know how brave (and
lucky) their parents were.

Kind of makes you want to run through the house with scissors, doesn't it?!

The quote of the month is by Jay Leno:

'With  hurricanes, tornados, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe
thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat
of bird flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this  is a good time to take God
out of the Pledge of Allegiance?'

For those that prefer to think that God is not watching over us...go ahead and
delete this.

For the rest of us...pass this ON!

No, no updates yet as far as the Web series. Comic number two is
supposed to be out sometime this month.

I haven't gotten the comic book yet, but had a friend get one of the
variant cover ones at a convention this week. While I was unfortunately
spoiled as to the new twists to the pilot some time ago (which
fortunately there's a way to avoid it in the future now ;) ), I still
look forward to reading the comic book when I get it.

How did you find out? I wish that Cannell.com would keep its news page up to
date. If the Web comic is available, why isn't there a news story at
http://www.cannell.com/news.php ?

I'm actually more interested in the Web series that's supposedly coming. Anyone
have news on that?

You guys let me down -- I don't follow the bulletin boards or anything and had
no idea this comic happened until this thread started. If the book sold through
normal comic venues that's at least four months after it hit the Diamond
catalog. Now I hafta go hunting for back issues.

I myself haven't picked it up yet, but plan to.

Last time I checked the site/store, they said they were sold out.

My pleasure--I put this up on the Fan Forum:

THERE ARE A FEW SPECIFICS OF THE STORY YOU COULD CONSIDER A "SPOILER"
SO READ AT YOUR OWN RISK AND DO NOT BUG ME ABOUT IT!

This first issue was mainly, really, an introduction to Bill Maxwell
and they did a very good job of bringing out many of his disparate
personality traits, while showing us overall how very good and decent
a man he is. You can't argue with that!

We do see numerous plot changes from the original pilot. Some we can
understand we done, as I previously wrote, to speedily create
character personalities, as comics must do many times. As Bill was the
real focus of this issue we have to say that the writers did a great
job with the many and oddly contrasting aspects to his complex
personality. We saw in that small comic many aspects of Bill:
Anti-communism
Impatience with "juvenile delinquents"
Brashness and abrasive communication style
His extreme loyalty to his partner and concern for their well-being
His not being a racist, although he is opinionated
The fact that when folks work with him, they see how good a guy he
really is, how dedicated and how committed they are towards protecting
the country and his partner--that is the interpretation I put on John
Plame saying it was an "honor" to work with Bill. I mean, come on,
"Honor" is a strong word indicating a lot. I loved seeing them use
that word.
We see his soft side as his grief and despair over his partner's death.

It's just AMAZING they got all of that in the comic book AND we start
seeing parts of Ralph (literate, compassionate, committed to helping
the kids), too AND we get a good insight into Tony's conundrum of
acting like a "tough guy" but really not wanting grief from society
AND we get the entrance of an evil plot based on cartoonish bad guys
with idiotic scientific technology, so far. (I hope they don't take
Gabriel's Army too far into cartoon technology Stupidville). Just
really well done and a tight, compact and efficient use of the pages.

I'm glad they took out Rhonda's crush on Ralph--I always felt that was
unnecessary in the show, anyway, and I'm glad it seemingly died. I
HATED Kevin, and hated how Ralph was seen to be such an awful dad, so
pulling that obnoxious brat from the comic was a scream of
"HALLELUYAH!" for me. ;-)))

Some of the other plot changes seemed just specious and unnecessary,
such as changing John Mackie's name, putting a "Livestrong" bracelet
on Bill (even this fan goes HUH?--I don't see Bill wearing a plastic
Livestrong bracelet), appliances blowing up in the desert, forgetting
to put blood stains on John Plame's shirt, and so forth. Why things
like that happened, I'm not sure, but it doesn't really take away from
the comic, a few of them didn't always seem "right" (Mackie's name
change #1 for me and that Livestrong bracelet). But, there was more
right in the establishment of personalities than in minor details like
that.

Overall, as I said, a great big thumb's up to the comic and I do look
forward to Ralph's pathetic attempts to use it and his and Bill's
growing friendship in the succeeding book. Anyone who loves TGAH
should buy this book. It's very promising for all Cannell and Co. hope
to do this year in revitalizing the franchise.

Mona
