that is going to be a really good fight will it be on tv.. I know brinkley and
Ishii are fighting sept.1 on espn..

In our home town Alfonso was in a parade and i heard that jesse brinkley is
fighting Ishii on Sept. 1 on espn..

and he will whip alfonso if he fights him again.  speaking of sergio,
i guess he's hanging out in the big leagues now.  i was watching the
fernando vargas fight on hbo and after el feroz won, i saw sergio
standing in the ring w/ him.

I can't believe I only found this group today!

My friend just told me that Mora and Manfredo are having a REMATCH on
Oct 15 at the Staples Center! We're going to buy tickets tomorrow off
of Ticketmaster! Anyone else planning on going? SUPPORT THE CONTENDERS!

I JUST GOT AN E MAIL NEWSLETTER FROM JESSE'S WEB SITE, HE WILL FIGHT
ISHE SMITH ON SEPTEMBER 1ST.  IT ALSO STATED THAT "IT LOOKS LIKE A
SECOND SEASON WILL AIR ON ESPN"  I HOPE THIS ALL GOES AS STATED, AS
THAT'S ONE FIGHT I'LL GO TO VEGAS TO SEE.

I believe he was the greatest boxer.  I love jesse brinkley and joey
gilbert as far as their heart and determination.  but i felt as though
the real contender would be sergio or alfonso.

Currently NBC has listed The Contender as "Cancelled".  There is a site
which is a direct petition to NBC on bringing The Contender back for
another (and hopefully more) season(s).

Please have everyone you know sign this petition with something good to
say about the show...

Were 3 episodes behind in the UK but ive just got the full series on
DVD.I cant believe NBC are scrapping this.I just hope another of your

I totally agree...i'm a huge fan of Jesse.I can't believe he would
give up just like that...it's frustrating to learn that he was always
following his mood eventhough he's in a bad mood...I really wanted him
to win 4 this show...

Welll wehn he was last on the contender he had broken ribs and a bashed head
and he was suppose to take the stretcher out but he didn't want to so I would

I've been an almost die-hard fan of Jesse's from the beginning, (his
love of hunting is the only hitch, but it's a big one for me).  From
his first 2 fights, he looked unbeatable.  Then, all of a sudden, he
started to slip.  He seemed to have the mental game perfect until the
last 2 episodes, and he seemed almost uninterested.  I don't get it.
As a fellow scorpio, I know we have our ups and downs emotionally, but
he seemed so strong.  I thought he had most of the guys wrapped around
his finger, then it all became untied.  Any ideas on why?

Im so sad and wanted Peter from day 1 but so happy for Sergio his
family deserves it and is   in need of the  money more. :) what are
your emotions about it. I love Peter and the communications and the way
his wiffe supports everything he does. You dont see that offen anymore
these days.

This is Joey's Agent and law partner Mark Schopper writing. Joey is
in Las Vegas at the moment helping Jesse prepare for his fight on
Tuesday. A lot of you have been writing with questions regarding the
fan-favorite fights. Unfortunately, Joey will not be fighting. The
Nevada Athletic Commission did not clear Joey to fight because of the
rib injuries he sustained on the Contender, which he re-injured while
sparring two weeks ago in Los Angeles.  This information has been
appearing on the Internet for a couple of weeks. However, the
Official word from the Commission came this week. Joey sent me a
message from his Sidekick asking me to pass along the following to
all of you:

"I am obviously disappointed that I will not be fighting on the
undercard at Caesars.  However, I will play a role in the finale and
I hope you all tune in to watch what promises to be a great match.
More importantly, many of you have sent me emails and links to forums
regarding the efforts you were putting in to support me through the
fan voting. I cannot express in words how much all of the support
means to me, even more so now that I will not be fighting.   I will
never forget the outpouring of support that all of you have given me
and I wish I could thank each and every one of you personally for
voting. After the Contender is over, I am going to make a concerted
effort to personally answer as many of your emails and letters as I
possibly can. You are the best! See you at the fights, Joey."

That's a good question, JL.
I hope it's nothing too serious for Joey and only a matter of the
Nevada State Athletic Commission following their rules and
regulations for injured boxers.
I hope we'll all get a follow up on his condition after going away in
that ambulance after his match with Peter Manfredo in Week 11.

I saw on the yahoo tv site for contender the list for the fan favorite
matchups that had been voted on and that will be fought on tuesday as
undercards.  It stated at the very bottom that
"Joey Gilbert has been medically suspended by the Nevada State Athletic
Commission and will not be able to participate in the Fan Favorites
Fights."  Any one know what happened???

I wholeheartedly agree with the 2 women.  I am sure after all of his
exposure on the show, #1 Daddy will not be hurting for money-they all
get $1500 a week to train until the show where they get knocked out
of contention-so to speak-airs.  The boxers also do charged
appearances, get corporate sponsors, and so on and so forth.
I am a single mother with a 3 month old, trying to keep my head above
water with bills.  My son was in the Neonatal ICU for the first month
of his life, is healthy now, but even with insurance, I have to come
up with $70,000.  I don't have supportive parents as Anthony did-good
for him-nor a supportive husband, as he ran away due to all the
stress my post-partum depression,and my weight gain.  It seems to be
so easy for men to walk away from their resposibilities.  It's great
that Anthony loves his kids, but he's got it made compared to some.
There are many, many more worse off then me.  While I comend such
charitable aspirations, there are far more needy and deserving beings
