1) Some of us are still lurking.

2) I seem to remember someone making a forum off of
Yahoo Groups... or did that die? I can't remember

3) Doesn't work that way with spammers, sadly.

I support the idea of creating a new group and leaving
this one to the spam monsters. Anyone else in favour?

1. Yes
2. I don't know
3. Spam is bounced from who-knows-where. We're better off setting up a brand new group

So I was talking with some friends last night and we were reminiscing
about some old shows that we watched and I was trying to think of some
of the names of them..I finally found one of them called "Space Cases"
but I cannot think of the other one...I really don't remember anything
about the show except it was on Wednesday nights around 6pm..probably
in the late 1990s and all I remember about the show is that there was
a boy/teenager who wore gloves cause he got scales on his
hands...maybe he was a merman...does anyone have any idea what I'm
talking about or is this some crazy memory I made up?

I have looked everywhere I can think of for information of this show I
used to watch with my family when I was young.
It would have been late 60's or early 70's in Toronto.
From what I recall Mr. Whatnot used to wear a striped vest and one of
the round straw type hats like the barbershop quartets do. He had
round glasses.
I'm sure he was older and could have been sort of chubby. There was
some type of puppet or animal character with him.
I am not positive but think it may have been TVO he was on.
Does this ring any bells?

You could always try making your own group and
inviting the members of this one to come and join

you could call it TVO_Kids,just a slight change in address, the
photos and files areas of group 1 could be linked from the new group.

I was hoping you might remember an old PBS children show in either the
late 60's or early 70's. Unfortunately, I do not know the title of the
show. The only thing that I remember is the the beginning of the show.
It showed kids running on a green field with colorful balloons going
up in the air, and nice melody as its theme song.

Look! It's not spam! Ha!

I recently managed to get my hands on some very early
episodes of the TVOntario series Prisoners of Gravity.
While the show was aimed at adult audiences later on,
the first season (1989-1990) is aimed at a
pre-teen/teen audience, so I'm hoping this is roughly
on topic.

What's bothering me is that the first month of
Prisoners of Gravity uses a set that's completely
different from the one that appears in the rest of the
series. While set changes on TVO shows aren't that
unusual, it does seem a little odd that the set would
change a month into a new series.

I'm curious if this first set wasn't originally built
for Prisoners of Gravity, but rather was recycled from
an earlier TVOntario production until a proper set
could be built. Here's a screencap of the Set Of
Mystery:
http://teddog.com/images/seasononepreview/preview4.jpg

Does that look familiar to anyone or am I barking up
the wrong tree here?

Hi all:

I got here by teh way of Rick, of course. Thanks to him, I have been re-
living some of the best parts of my life via TVO Classic Programming.
Pretty excited to finally join in the chat.

Now, for the Hunting part. I am in search of two classic series: Read
All About It Sesson 1 and Math Patrol. My daughter could use a little
help understanding a few key concepts and I think those shows could
help. Also, I love to get the Green Forest episdoes for my younger one,
but baby steps.

I don't really ahve much to offer in return. All I have of interest are
Seasons 12 to 26 of classic Doctor Who (Tom Baker to Sylverster McCoy)
on DVD in *.avi format. It's taken close to a year to get the quality
just right, but I'm happy with it. At 3 complete episodes a DVD, it
sure cuts down the space my old VHS tape collection took up.

If anyone can help, let me know.

Rock on...

Alright, since I am going to be running a Canadian film and television
database, I am going to have to start looking for old Canadian series
to trade for but for now I will start with old Canadian children's series.

I have some series to trade for anyone interested.

I recently threw out my Dr. Snuggles and Little Prince tapes (I had no
clue anyone wanted them). I also disposed of my old Nelvana specials.
Almost all of my Fable of the Green Forest tapes I have given to Rick
(and he should be receiving them soon).

I am looking for FishTales, Yes You Can, Cucumber, Kids of Degrassi
Street, News From Zoos, Butternut Square and others, I perfer Canadian
children's series from 1950's to the 80's.

Send me a list of what you seek at blackrider79@...

Please use "Tape Trade" in the title otherwise I may dispose of it as
junk mail.

Yes, it's a shame. I have not seen the series on television since TV
Ontario (called Galaxy Channel on the west coast of Canada) around
1983-84.

The shameful part is it is very hard to find any Canadian films or TV
series on video or DvD. We have produced some fantastic pieces of work
and when it has the tag "Canada" attached to it, not many people will
be bothered to watch it or buy it.

What I wouldn't give for a DVD release of the television series You
Can't Do That on Television, Yes You Can or Cucumber.

My other rant (for another board): why do some Canadian actors and
musicians feel they haven't "made it" unless they conquer the US? And
then once they do, why do they move there abandoning their home country?

Hi guys,

I have been viewing Rick's site for awhile and I think he is doing a
good thing for people who fondly remember children's television series
shown on TVOntario.

I will be running my own Canadian film/TV database site and I have
also worked in the industry for a short time.

I was going through some of my references Rick and I found a old TV
series that was shown on TVOntario. I watched this back in 83 or 84
and I fondly remember it. Here is the info my friend:

Fishtales
AKA L'aventure des crabuleuses (French Canadian title)

1978 (and possibly 1977 or 1979)

A live action series that traces the adventures of two shore crabs who
are lost at sea and trying to find their way home.

Actors:
Angela Fusco, Tony Robinow, Marvin Goldhar, Joanna Noyes, John
Stocker, Nick Nichols, Maxine Miller

Producer(s): Paulle Clark, Diana Jervis-Read
Director(s): Paulle Clark, Diana Jervis-Read, Tony Sheer

Episodes:
Battle at Crabclaw (#12)
Captured Crabs (#9)
Crabclaw Castle (#11)
Dinner for the Dog Fish King (#2)
Gift to the Sea Gods (#4)
Hardshell Heroes (#1)
Heroes Return (#6)
Home Again (#13)
Horatio's New Shell (#5)
Lights Out (#8)
Rancho Crab (#7)
Ride to the Unknown (#10)
Ricky to the Rescue (#3)

I believe there was a second season or this was the second season.

Now why don't I throw a few TV series names for some Canadian
children's series:

The Sunrunners (with a young Jessica Steen)
The Little Vampire (with Joel Dacks, Marsha Moreau, Christopher Stanton)
The Waterville Gang
The Adventures of Snelgrove Snail
Owl/TV
The Secret Railroad
Free To Fly (a children's fitness series filmed in British Columbia)
Take Off (series in early 90's)
Take Off Again (Take Off's sequel series in early-mid 90's)
Skippy, The Bush Kangaroo (It was the French dubbed version).
Take Part (with Lois Walker)
Bookmice

Hello everyone:
I am interested in collecting complete sets of TVO
shows. Is anyone selling sets of TVO shows or willing
to trade? I am looking for anything and everything
especially Dear Aunt Agnes, Simon and the Chalkboard,
321 Contact and Harriet the Magic Hat.

The only complete sets of TVO shows I have right now
are "Bell and Sebastian" and "Read all About it" (My
two all time favorites)

If these sets don't interest you I also have non-tvo
complete sets like "Dungeons and Dragons", Gummi
Bears, and Muppet Babies.

Please let me know,
Thanks
