Hello, everyone!
I just found out about this group by cross-searching websites about
SURFACE, after seeing the 14706 signatures on the Save Surface
Petition link at TrekUnited.com, which I'm also a member of. Hey, we
may have lost ENTERPRISE for a year or two, but I hope they won't
cancel SURFACE. Good heavens, this show is as wild as The X-Files:
as soon as you "have it all figured out," they throw in a curve and
you're right back to square one about what it's all about. GREAT
MYSTERY! That is, I believe, the primary driving force that keeps
people tuned in: what on EARTH (--or, under it, as the case may be--)
is going on here?
I'm musician/writer/actor from eastern Virginia, which in SURFACE
episode 16, would have been ingulfed in the tsunami just like the rest
of the eastern seaboard. QU: Has anyone calculated just how far
inland the wave would have penetrated? It's been suggested it would
travel as far west as the I-95 corridor, wiping out nearly EVERY major
coastal city from Maimi to Nova Scotia. (That finale scene from the
movie 'Deep Impact' comes to mind.) Never mind the Bermudas, Cuba,
northern South America, etc. etc. etc. -- a disaster of THIS magnitude
would, just like what was said as the LAST LINE in that episode, make
this "a whole new world." Wow...!
And about the preview of the episode: they showed a TOWERING wave
coming over a city, yet it wasn't showed in the episode. Could that
be saved for ANOTHER companion wave to be seen in the next installment
... ? I cannot imagine that ANYONE left in their cars on I-40 or
highway 17 near Wilmington NC would have survived that. (Yikes!)
Now, about that "monorail" thing -- it appears to be a normal subway,
on 2-rails -- but if it's supposed to be a MONOrail, then so be it.
Also coming from a two-family history in the railroad industry, I have
to wonder just how many BILLIONS of $$$ it would take to construct
such a [rail line] into the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. ??? Such
visionary concepts have been presented on various futuristic shows
like those seen on The Discovery Channel (--the Atlantic TUBE from New
York City to London, I think), but..... Man, what's with that thing,
anyway? I can't WAIT to find out -- and I hope they drag THAT answer
out long enough to keep us riveted for yet another season or two or
three or.....
I'll be watching this site for a LONG time to come, it seems! Thanks
to TrekUnited.com, I've found THIS website as well. May we be lucky
enough to have BOTH shows return soon.
