Please what be SHADO email group's archive's URL?
I like the new story "UFO - The Battle Continues" which is appearing in
episodes in the SHADO Library http://shado.simplenet.com/library/
Has anyone heard of Don Showalter recently? I downloaded his Lightwave models
of SHADO hardware and converted them to .OBJ mode including accepting the
color texture maps, and I wanted to offer them to him.
Hi All
and thank to Marc Martin to put again togheter the our Big Family.

Hi All,
I just got this update from Chuck Foster, who is in charge of all the
mailing lists at PIPEX:
----
Due to hardware problems the server is currently down :-(
Hoping that a replacement will be up shortly.

So hopefully things will be back to normal soon...

Hello? Is there anyone out there? Hey Marc, is there any chance FAB-UFO can stay
at ELIST? I'm a member of other lists here already, and I like the way I can
toggle the mail on and off for the weekends and holidays. And as you're well
aware, the other place doesn't like me very much!...
Anyway, I wanted to say something about Destruction. It's one of my favorites.
Of course Miss Bosenquay is one of the reasons, but I also like the plot,
despite the possible flaw in it, which we've discussed before. If the aliens
really want our organs and things, why would the destroy all life on the planet?
Sure, it would make conquering Earth a lot easier. But it's the same reason you
wouldn't want to go to Wembley Stadium on a day when there's no event...Sure you
get great seats, but who cares? And I like the scenes out at sea, including that
stock footage (I'm sure I've seen it before!) And I like the scene when Ed tells
the Naval Commander what's going on, so he in turn tells Ed what they're really
up to out there. Well that's all for now. If this actually reaches anyone...

Well, I'm sure eGroups has it's own set of problems too... I'd rather
just keep it at LISTS.PIPEX.COM if at all possible. At least when
it's there we don't get advertisements in each e-mail. Plus it has
the entire 5-year archive of past messages!

Hi!
Just checked the list of subscribers, only 14 of us so far. Marc, is it
wise to have the list of subscribers public? Even if only subscribers can
see the list of email addresses, all one needs to get it is sign on, get
it, sign off.

So is this Egroups thing a temporary fix or SHADO's new home? Perhaps this
is the "moonbase" of the FAB-UFO list while the main list is the Main
Headquarters!
Even though Egroups are quick to set up it was a nice thing to do to get a
temporary solution to this problem Marc. Hopefully everything will get
fixed in the next few days.
Well I hope everyone has a good holiday weekend, Passover and Easter. I
think I saw an alien possessed bunny in my backyard the other night!

You do realize that the list of FAB-UFO subscribers has always been
public, don't you? All you had to do was send an "REVIEW FAB-UFO"
command...
But I just turned off the list of eGroups subscribers, as you've
requested... :-)

If FAB-UFO gets fixed, then this is temporary. If not, it's
permanent! Chuck Foster has every intention of fixing the
LISTS.PIPEX.COM computer, but I'm not sure how long this will take.

Hi All,
I see in the fine print of Fanderson's home page a very significant change:
"Members can now pay for club membership and sales items by credit
or debit card - we accept MasterCard, Visa, JCB, Switch, Solo and
Delta. Members will be provided with a new Credit and Debit Card
Sales Order Form with each club mailing for ordering Fanderson Sales
items."
This of course is something that us international members have been
wanting for years! Finally all of my money will be going straight to
Fanderson and not to the foreign exchange department of my local bank.
Yipeee!

DESTRUCTION
Great to see Stephanie Beacham (Sarah Bosenquet).
As many of you know, she was a Hammer girl. Speaking of which,
I see that Alec was in "The Vengeance of She".
I wasn't as bothered by the technicalities Ron mentions about the
telescope as much as how Sarah had the alien device installed in her
apartment in the first place. Can the aliens manipulate so many
people so easily? Seems like they would be informidable.
Going back to an earlier discussion,
If the alien plan is to use earthlings as organ donors,
why kill everyone?
Wouldn't they at least make another ultimatum as in Psychobombs?

Repost from fab-ufo@...

A Question of Priorities
Excellent episode. The dual story line works very well.
But this one has been bugging me.
That alien.
We're lead to believe he's a traitor trying to contact us with a
"medium power commercial transmitter". But they don't speak english,
heck they don't speak at all. Universal translator? (oops wrong series)
Or is it just a "come and get me" signal? Not wise since SHADO's
policy seems to be shoot first, ask questions later.
For me, the apparent aimless communications (using the old woman's
ramblings to contact SHADO) seems to support the idea that the alien
"humanoids" are really zombie drones. This one got away and without
control, was "going through the motions" of radio communications.
Apparently the Thunderbirds DVD release date is next month with
8 discs of 4 episodes each.
Danger Man's release date is in June with episodes 1-4.
The Prisoner's date is in August with 4 discs of 5,4,4,4
episodes per disc.
Interestingly the prices are between rumored to be between
£9.99 and £14.99 per disc. Given 4 episodes per disc,
this is a better deal than VHS.

I saw a fan fiction story that said that the aliens in "Destruction" were a
different lot of aliens with a different agenda.

Some aliens surely know English by now, at least enough to interrogate
captured Earthmen who are not telepathic.
> Or is it just a "come and get me" signal?
Most likely.
> Not wise since SHADO's policy seems to be shoot first, ask questions later.
It would have been if he had directly tried to fly in his UFO to SHADO
headquarters. Perhaps ordinary UFOs' radios are designed not to be able to
communicate with Earth radios, to discourage defections.

Perhaps he didn't know English.
Or, being stranded without his UFO, he couldn't talk understandably with his
vocal tract full of liquid.

That's great Marc. It's a move in the right direction. I wonder when
the next issue of Fanderson is going to be published? I'm still waiting
for more details about accommodation and stuff for this convention in

When Pipex and FAB-UFO group are back in working order, will SHADO group's
archives be put somewhere where they can be reached from FAB-UFO's archives?,
so people can keep track of discussions through these changes of site.

Yes, I'll just send a message to FAB-UFO with all the SHADO messages,
then it will part of FAB-UFO archive.

Chuck Foster told me it was a hardware failure, and they're waiting

Of course I do, I used to get a list regularly. But on egroups/onelist it's
terribly tempting to go and look, it asks for it, it seems to invite people
to go look :-)
I don't know about egroups and the current set up (I should go and check
really at the settings of my Bocelli list) but with onelist (which is now
intergrated with egroups) one had the possibility of adding a whole list of
subscribers in one go, so one could sign on the entire subscribers group of
Fab-Ufo on there.
>If FAB-UFO gets fixed, then this is temporary. If not, it's

I'm pretty happy with egroups/onelist, never had any problems with it, I've
had a list there for over a year. The few lines of advertising at the
bottom isn't such a problem, I never scroll down past the sig of the sender
anyway. And it's free! It also has the advantage of being one of the major
places where lists on all kinds of subjects are, so we're likely to get a
few more subscriptions in from people who check onelist for a UFO group.
I'm curious - why call it SHADO rather than Fab-Ufo?
Anyway, thanks for the quick reaction, Marc.

Seems like I'm the only one who actually minds the advertising... :-)

In case this move was permanent, I wanted to give the group a good
name. FAB-UFO is kind of an odd name, and I thought "SHADO" would
make a bit more sense...
