Hi, I wanted to give a little mention to the latest issue of our Gerry
Anderson fanzine. 'Andersonic' issue 5 is a 40 page A5 fanzine with a
heavy bias towards UFO. The new issue features an article on the UFO
comic strips in Countdown, a photo feature on UFO locations and
reviews of 2 UFO episodes (The Man Who Came Back and A Question of
Priorities). There is also a transcript of the ignominious court
martial of Alec Freeman and a UFO-related colour cover. It also has
articles on The Investigator, a Captain Scarlet retrospective, reviews
of Trapped in the Sky (Thunderbirds)and Dorzak (Space1999).

There is also a feature on the links between 2001 and Space1999 and an
overview of the much maligned series Star Maidens. The fanzine is
available via eBay for a short while - here's the link

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=180211862395&ssPageNam\
e=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=008

and via either myself or Dave Nightingale's Startrader site. Previous
issues have covered Timelash, Exposed, a feature on the character of
Ed Straker and an overview of Dennis Spooner's Anderson work. If
anyone would like any further info please get in touch. Thanks

If you're in Blackpool, Thunderbooks might have it. When I was
there last year I bought an issue of Andersonics and would recommend
it. (If this doesn't get me a discount nothing will! :-) )

Hi

I have an original show brochure that is signed by Gerry Anderson,Ed
Bishop and George Sewell that I wish to sell. It is the three part
folding type that was used I believe to launch the series and during
its first season there is one the same on the ufo website marketing
and promotion section. Does anyone know how much these things are worth?

Thanks

You'd probably do fine by taking some good photos of it and auctioning
it off on eBay. You could put a reserve price or high initial bid if
you're worried about it not selling for much.

My guess is that the crewmen were added to the Mobile 'after market'

I own several and have never seen a dinky mobile with crewmen.

Sad news today in that we have lost a major Space:1999 star. Barry
apparently passed away yesterday after a short period of ill health.
I always thought he was one of the better characters in the show and a
good talker at the conventions - I remember at an early Con he was only
supposed to be on stage for half an hour but was still going strong
after an hour plus with the organisers desperately trying to remove him.

Does anyone remember this 26 minute sci-fi short produced for Canadian TV? It
was about two doctors (Morse and Kate Reid) and they conduct time experiments
that transport a neanderthal child to the present. He bonds with Reid who ends
up going back in time with him.

Very sad news indeed. I remember Barry Morse from The Fugative when I
was a kid and the series had me on the edge of my seat every week. He
was great as Lt. Gerrard. Fantastic in Space 1999 as well, of course.
He will be sadly missed.

Very sad news about Barry Morse - my husband and I had the pleasure of seeing
him perform in person here in Moncton, New Brunswick Canada at the capitol
Theatre about 20 yrs ago. And of course we knew him from The Fugitive and Space:

Sadly the obituary skips all of his excellent ITC
work: The Adventurer (1972), The Zoo Gang (1973) and
Space: 1999 (1974-5); along with his spots on Twilight
Zone and Outer Limits.

I didn't realize Barry Morse would have a mini- thread here on the
UFO list so I'll drop a couple of Barry links to my site in case any
of you would like to here some of his speeches.

I have images of Barry and the 1999 speech from the LA con on my
What's New page

http://captphilonline.com/WhatsNew.html

and a bunch of pictures from the 2005 con along with all the speeches
from that con (Including Shane Rimmer and a conference call with
Sylvia Anderson) here on my 2005 convention page

http://captphilonline.com/Earthbound.html

I remember somewhere during one of the Shane Rimmer speeches asking
him about UFO (He was the pilot in Identified) and he said,

"I don't remember a damn thing about that show Phil, now would you
please sit down and be quiet!"

One of the reasons I joined this group is to get additional background
information to perhaps put together some house rules for a UFO/X-COM campaign.

I haven't worked on it in ages, but I think it's very doable as a RPG.
