True, but Berkoff does have plenty of form for this kind of thing. He has
appeared in his fair share of Hollywood films then slagged off both the
films and his fellow actors for working on them.
No doubt in all humility, he presents himself as a man of high principle.
Hmmmm.

John

I read this as the writer trying to be sarcastic, saying that none
of these shows were good enough for Berkoff to watch but were ok for
him to be in.

When I was about 11 years old (yeeeeeK!) I was so blown away by
watching UFO that had just been aired by my local tv staion here in
the uk, that I wrote to Gerry Anderson to express my liking of the
show, he in turned sent me some photos, my correspondence with Gerry
lasted whilst he was producing 'The protectors' I still have the
letters today.

I use to be a member of the Ed Bishop fan club, I think it cost £1 to
join back in the aerly 70's. Have been to one of the Fandersons UFO
conventions back in the
80's.

My interest today in UFO is still as strong as ever. I mainly surf the
internet as to new sites or re visit regular sites for up-dates

Friends of mine think I am a bit off the wall, but thats me.

Welcome to SHADO, Ken!

It sounds like you might have some interesting/unique items -- do you
own a scanner? It might be interesting for some people to see
scans/photos
of the photos that Gerry sent you, or an old issue of the Ed Bishop
fan club newsletter, etc.

And *we* don't think you're crazy... :-)

Hi all,

The Fanderson News page has information about a revised version of THE
COMPLETE BOOK OF UFO:

   http://www.fanderson.org.uk/news.html#CompUFOHB

This version will be hardback, new information, and even a few pages of
color photos!

It also mentions that the original version of this book sold for high
prices... I didn't realize that!

So if this version contains stuff the previous didn't, then it wasn't
really "Complete," now was it?

Heh, heh... well, I think that unfilmed script for THE PATRIOT
caught everybody by surprise... and we've only known about that
for 11 months!

As I recall, the #1 complaint about the first edition was:

   "What, no color photos?"

So I suspect the #1 complaint about this edition will be:

"What, only 8 pages of color photos?"

You're right Marc. Doesn't look like her at all. The face isn't even close,

hope this doesn't sound rude, but the space between her legs where they meet her
body looks awfully wide too. Or am I seeing things???

Agreed, the space between her legs does not look right. It looks a bit like
when a very young kid draws someone and they never get the proportions of the
body right, or draw someone with, say, a triangular body from which the limbs
sprout out at odd angles.

Having said that, I would be charitable and say that it does look like Gay
Ellis - if you stand in front of it with your back to it and in pitch dark!

one is the old text and new drawing.

Dave.
This is a rough sketch as all UFO cartoons start.
(and usually finish)
Straker's face is drawn separately at a larger size, then
inserted into the drawing after scanning.
The smaller the faces, the more difficult they become
to draw. Additions/Deletions?
Is this what you had in mind?

Surely you jest. Gabrielle signed away all rights to her likeness in exchange
for a paycheck
and residuals for the first 2 reruns of the series when she accepted the job.
I'd suggest that anyone who wants to see more figures support PE's efforts -
besides, you never
know what may happen; someone might just sculpt up a better looking head to
replace the one that comes
with the doll. Without the doll, you wouldn't have a body to attach it to.

At least THEY are recognizable as SHADO Mobiles. Unfortunately, The Gay Ellis

Note that Comet Miniatures sells an "unweathered" PE SHADO Mobile,
and it's quite nice. Here is a photo:

I also chose not to buy the original Mobile because it didn't
look right, and I'm also not going to buy a Lt. Ellis figure

The Dalotek Affair is tonites ep on ITV 4 - on the box as I write

Thanks, Marc. I've been considering one of those. Is Comet Miniatures
repainting and selling the badly painted ones, or is PE doing a special run of
these just for Comet Miniatures? I wish FAB Gear had the "clean" version for
sale.

FWIW, I could live with the head on the Ellis doll, if it was just meant to be
a "generic" Moonbase operative head, instead of Gay's head. I think it actually
turned out quite nicely, other than lacking the resemblance claimed by PE. The
head appears much nicer than the body/uniform.

I don't think they've been repainted.

A while ago,a member asked the meaning of
the test Gay Ellis was doing on the monitor

I have seen a similar sort of test published
in a newspaper, and have drawn the tests from
the above episode with _possible_ solutions.
These are by no means the correct answers,
and would welcome any alternative view.
I had to think about the answers for quite
a while, whereas Gay Ellis had about 3 seconds.
So it looks like I needn't apply for a job at SHADO.

The four tests seen clearly during the episode

Yes, one of the Skydiver operatives I reckon. That photo appears to have been
taken in '73 or '74 judging by the attire, so he would have been a few years
younger when he appeared in UFO.
