Kevin, both versions are wonderful and I might get slammed but I am sure Ed and
Mike as well as the others were looking over your shoulder and approved.

life being greeted by Mike and other passed members of SHADO,

finished, adding bodies to the heads would have meant smaller
faces, and with the already low resolution on these uploads,
wouldn't have added anything to the effect.
So I hope the final result is acceptable for those wanting
a commemorative drawing without anything unnecessary added.
I had to leave David Warbeck out due to space, but he was

Can anyone give information about him?

Hi all,

I see that Fanderson has announced 3 new UFO guests for their convention
this September -- Alan Perry, Dolores Mantez, and Jane Merrow.

I thought I heard somewhere that Jane Merrow didn't even recall appearing
in UFO, although perhaps that was one of those false rumors...

There hasn't been much coverage anywhere (that I can recall) about
Reg Hill's contribution to UFO.

I know that in the DVD commentary, Sylvia implies that she ended up
doing the job that Reg was supposed to be doing, but who knows how
accurate that is...

Very acceptable Kevin, thank you very much for doing the drawing.
I'll admit it brought tears to my eyes for the first time since
learning of Ed and Mike passing on. I think seeing all of them
together was just too much – silly I know. I'll also admit I
can't face watching UFO at the moment, hopefully this will pass!!

From Mike Billington's obit in the Independent -

>highlight. He relished playing such an earthy, well-rounded role in

For those of you that can access UK Drama channel, they are showing
this series currently and the omnibus is on right now (Sunday
morning). I've just watched Mike having a long fist fight with
James Onedin, in order to persuade Daniel Fogarty to marry his sister
Elizabeth, who is "with child" by him. She refused his
offer, preferring the workhouse!! You can see how Mike really does
relish the role. This series has wonderful music (Spartacus ballet by
Khatchaturian) ever since always used for sailing ships. Sorry if
this is too off-topic, but living on the UK South coast near to
Portsmouth and Southampton, we hear it a lot on local TV programmes!

I had wondered if either Mike or Ed had intended to write
autobiographies, or if someone was planning to write a biography,
maybe they kept journals(?) Ed said somewhere he begged Mike to write
about his James Bond experiences, is this what is being referred to
here?

Since Mike's death, I'd wondered if his change of heart might
have been due to his having cancer, this only being known to most of
us since he died. Sometimes people change their values when they
face the fact that time may be short. Also that he was living in the
UK in his final years and he did go to some in the USA when he was
living there. I don't know, just mho.

I said this recently here; I believe I read it in the SHADO archives
originally. I've wondered if anyone with primarily an interest in
UFO (cf Capt. Scarlet CGI and Thunderbirds) that was planning on
attending this event had changed their minds as Ed and Mike won't be
there, although it won't be the same as seeing Ed and Mike in person,
with these three UFO guests going, there might be some emphasis on
UFO and some new insights on the whole UFO series generally and
tributes to Ed and Mike, which might be worth hearing in person. Is
anyone on this list planning on going? Might be a way of
getting 'closure'(?) It would help if they said which day they were
appearing (assuming they would all be together) although it might be
too late to register now..

I believe that people can register at the door, but you're right --
you'd have to know which day they were going to be there.

Hi Sarah, charlie and I had made arrangements to go to the convention
several months before Ed and Mike died, mainly to see Ed and meet Mike
for the first time. When they both passed away, we discussed it and
decided that we still don't want to miss the convention. We are hoping
that they have a tribute to both Mike and Ed. I am thrilled to see they
are adding three more UFO guests. Alan Perry was charming and I would
love to meet Dolores Mantez and Jane Merrow as well. It will be difficult
being there and knowing Ed and Mike were supposed to be there. I am sure
I will cry. I am looking forward to meeting up with old friends we met at
the first two conventions and making new friends from the shado group and
edbishopfans group. So we are definitely still going and we invite anyone
from the groups to please introduce themselves if they see our nametags!

I have to agree that I would definitely buy any bios on or by Ed and Mike
orany other UFO actors. I bought all the books written by ex-Trek folks
(Shatner, Nimoy, Nichols, Doohan, Takai - oddly enough Koenig and Kelley
never did write their bios....). Could someone please post the place I can

Sarah,

I was thinking along the same lines. I was surprised that he attended
a Prisoner convention (was it last year?) especially as he had such a
minor role (a non-speaking one at that) in one episode of that series.
I wondered to what extent he might have been motivated by a desire to
ensure that his son knew about his life and career and had the
opportunity to meet people who knew him when he was in the shows and
also to allow his son to enjoy the recognition accorded to his father
as a respected actor. Likewise, I guess the autobiography could be
seen in that light – intended for his son rather than anyone else who
might read it. All of this all the more vital (and sad) given that his
son's mother died in 1998.

You know, I was debating with myself about whether to get the video

Oooh! And Product Enterprises uses a variation of the Takara/BBI
"Cy-Girl" body, so that's good.

Here's hoping they get the head-to-body proportions better than they
did with John Steed and Emma Peel!

They charge $15 / DVD plus $3 shipping in the US. Don't know the
shipping to the UK. IIRC, the shipping is one charge for as many DVDs as
you purchase. They have a pretty good selection of videos.

This movie was indeed officially released on DVD in the US,
but has been out of print for years. You can find several
people selling it at the Amazon.com marketplace (at $100
or more!), and it probably shows up on eBay too.

I remember when this title was being closed out for $10.

Hi all,

On my "UFO Series Home Page", some of you may have seen some
short excerpts of Ed Bishop's appearance on "Late Night Late",
when he was interviewed before and after a broadcast of UFO
in the 1980's (the episode was "The Man Who Came Back"). Well,
I have been experimenting a bit with video encoding lately, and
have now put the entire 15-minute interview into a 32 MB DivX
movie:

    http://ufoseries.com/temp/edbishop.avi

If you are unable to play this file, you might want to check
http://www.divx.com/divx/ and see if you need to install something.
On my Windows XP computer, I'm able to view this on Windows
Media Player and BS Player, but I probably installed the
DivX codec at some point in the past.

And if a lot of people are unable to play this file, I'll try
and re-encode it into Quicktime or something more fool-proof
(not MPEG-1, as the file would be too big)
