Perhaps a point that isn't in the script is that Freeman knows Lt.
Ellis, and might think of her as being a bit aloof, and that "Good
luck, Mark" seems oddly out of character for her; that, as well as
her apparent "hesitation" when telling the interceptor pilots what
co-ordinates they should use to escape from the oncoming UFO whic
results in one of the interceptors being destroyed, could make him
think that something's going on. Remember, she did give Mark
Bradley preferential treatment, giving him co-ordinates first, even
though it seemed that the doomed pilot had priority.
