Instinct

The team head for an unknown planet, and enter a cavern, it's dark
and eerie, no one is seen outside. As they enter the cavern, it
suddenly goes very quiet. (Reminds me an American werewolf in London
type of atmosphere – for those that have seen it). One of the bar
tenders CalluP tries to find out why the team are there, and they
don't appear very hospitable. Goran (who seems to be one of the
leader) tells them to leave, but Callum tells them that he can't just
send them on their way. The team learn that the villages fear a
creature called the Diamos, which the team learn is also known as the
wraith.

Goran explains a bit of the history and that 10 years before, a dart
crashed on the planet, the villages sought out the ship. Not wanting
to take any chances they executed the people in the hive ship and
burned the bodies. They believe that to this day one of them survived
as one of the villagers had been killed the night the ship crashed.
Since that time it's killed several villages including Goran's son.

Ronon is all gung ho about finding the Wraith, Sheppard tells him it
can wait till morning. Rodney asks if that means that they can now
eat, hehehe.

Rodney seems to still have his wonderful charm when dealing with
children, hehehe.

As the team go off into the village to find the wraith, we learn that
Ronon has very good hearing. Teyla thinks that she senses something,
but she can't identify what it is, she believes it's a different
feeling to what she normally has. Ronon at this point believes he's
found the wraith scent and pursues it. Ronon finds a cave and the
team venture inside where they find a young female wraith. Chasing
after it, the wraith leads them further inside the cave where an old
man (Zaddik) protects her, claiming she is his daughter (Ellia) and
that she doesn't feed on humans, because she's different.

He tells the team that she is not responsible for the killings and
that she has survived initially on normal food, but then as her
hunger grew, he devised an experimental serum that took a while to
perfect, but he believes it staves of Ellia feeding on humans.

Back on Atlantis, Beckett, Weir and Sheppard discuss the serum and
it's possibilities. Beckett tells them that as the wraith get older
the normal digestive organs become redundant. Beckett tells Sheppard
that the wraith have evolved from the Eratus bug, the bug that
attached to Major Sheppard's neck (Season 1 – 38 minutes). We learn
that Sheppard still hates the little buggars. Beckett tells Weir and
Sheppard that the scientists on board are working on a retrovirus to
turn a wraith into a human, but they lack the living cells to
quantify their findings. Beckett goes back to the planet with
Sheppard to take a look at the serum.

On the planet, the remaining team members (Ronon, Teyla and McKay)
are still in the cave with Zaddik and Ellia, and are amazed at how
normal she appears to be.

Beckett in the meantime begins to work alongside Zaddik to identify
how he came across the serum. Ellia tries to be a good hostess, but
gets angry when Ronon gets angry with her, and he goes to shoot her
(or frighten her). She screams then runs away. Zedick comforts Ellia,
she's upset that the others hate her and she can't understand why.

In the village, another body is wheeled into the centre, killed by a
wraith. Sheppard radios Teyla and ask if Ellia has been with them the
whole time – she has. That means that another Wraith has survived.

Teyla thinks that Ellia can help them with the search for the other
wraith and confides in her that she has the same ability of sensing
the wraith, and the team go hunting thanks to Ellia seeing where the
other Wraith is.

Meanwhile in the cave Zaddik and Beckett talk about Ellia, Beckett
informs him that he may have the answer to help Ellia, and he shows
Zaddik the retrovirus. Hiding in the shadows is Ellia, Beckett and
Zaddik don't see her.

Rodney rushes in at that point saying they've got problems leaving
Ellia alone with the retrovirus.

In the forest the Beckett, and McKay watch as the villages decide to
go hunting, when they return to the cave they find an empty syringe
and no Ellia, she's taken the retrovirus.

McKay and Beckett go off into the forest to try and find her.
Meanwhile Ellia returns to the cave and tells Zedick that the serum
doesn't work. She tells him that she's been feeding alongside the
wraith. Ellia suddenly begins to turn into a wraith and refuses any
help from her `father', then rushes out into the forest.

In the middle of the forest an adult wraith jumps out and attacks
Beckett, she manages to stop the wraith before it attacks Rodney, she
then decides she wants him for herself. Ellia instead of turning into
a human begins to turn into an advanced wraith.

Spoilers for the ending.

******************************************

Rodney is saved by Ronon zatting Ellia with his stun gun, as she
darts away into the forest she meets up her dad, and attacks him.
She's no longer the Ellia that he brought up. The team and villagers
find Zeddick mortally wounded, but still alive, he tells Goran that
he is his lost son. At first he doesn't believe him, but then he
explains what happened 10 years ago when he found Ellia lying
unconscious in the forest and how she fed on him…hence the aging.
The team go after her, and then splitting up, Teyla is attacked and
knocked unconscious. Ronon stays with her at Sheppards' insistence
while he goes searching for Ellia.

When Teyla regains consciousness, she tells Ronon to go after
Sheppard. Sheppard in the meantime hears Ellia closing in and Ellia
attacks Sheppard, and tries to feed on him via his forearm. As blood
drips down his arm, Ronon manages to get there just in time and as
they can't reason with her, they have no alternative but to kill her
as she attacks them.

The end shot is of Sheppard bleeding all over the forest.

The end….. for now *g*

Thoughts...I enjoyed this and it sets up the next ep 'Conversion'
quite nicely. I won't say anymore, lol, cos I don't want to spoil it
for you *insert evil grin*.

Scully *who is typing 'conversion'as we speak.
