Friday evening (9-19) International Launch Services Proton M/Breeze M
rocket is scheduled to launch Nimiq 4 communications satellite for
Telesat, Canada, from Launch Pad 39, Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan.
Launch is scheduled for 5:48 p.m. EDT.
Spacecraft Separation is approximately 9 hours and 11 minutes after liftoff
Nimiq 4, built by EADS Astrium, France is a Eurostar E3000 bus with 32
channels in Ku-band and 8 channels in Ka-band.
Nimiq 4 has two payloads for Canadian broadcast services. The main
payload will provide specialty television and foreign language
programming. The second payload has six beams covering Canada for such
advanced services as high-definition television. Nimiq satellites are
dedicated to the provision of direct-to-home services for Bell TV.will
be used for SES Americoms "Americom2Home" for Dish Network DBS service.
Nimiq 4 will be located at 82 degrees west.
