Friday evening (4-18) a Ariane 5 ECA rocket (v.182) is set to launch
Star One C2 for Star One Brazil, and Vinasat-1 for Vietnam Post
and Telecommunications Corporation., from ELA-3, Kourou, French Guiana,
South America.
Launch is set for 6:16 p.m. EDT. with a window extending to 7:23 p.m. EDT.
Spacecraft separation for Star One C2 is expected 26 minutes after lift
off and 31 minutes after liftoff for Vinasat-1.
Star One C2, built by Thales Alenia Space is a Spacebus 3000 B3
platform, has 28 C-band, 16 Ku-band and one X-band transponder, and will
provide communications, multimedia and broadband Internet services for
South America.
Star One C2 will be positioned at 70 degrees West.
Vinasat-1, built by Lockheed Martin Commercial Space Systems (LMCSS) in
Newton, Pennsylvania, using an A2100A platform, with12 Ku-band and 8
C-band transponders, providing radio, television and telephone
transmission services throughout Vietnam.
Vinasat-1 will be positioned at 132 degrees East.
