Tonight a Delta IV-Heavy rocket is set to launch the DSP-23 satellite
for the U.S. Air Force from pad 37B at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station,
Florida.
The launch window opens at 8:39 p.m. EST. and extending to 10:38 p.m. EST.
DSP-23 (Defense Support Program Satellite 23) is the final in a series

DSP Satellites have been the spaceborne segment of North American
Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD’s) Tactical Warning and Attack
Assessment System since 1970. DSP satellites use infrared sensors to
detect heat from missile and booster plumes against the earth’s
background providing early detection and warning of missile launches and
nuclear explosions.
