Well, I went to Dilana Smith Robicheaux's concert (from RockStar
SuperNova) tonight in Houma, Louisiana at the Civic Center. "An evening
with Dilana" was a benifit concert for a friend with cancer, named
Tabitha. Dilana calls her Tabby. Here is the recap: She opened with a
new original song, then did "Mother Mother"!!!! Before she did her next
song, she said, "I will do one more song then I want to chat with you
all." Then she did "Zombie"...and we had a little action go down during
that song! Some crazy guy ran up on stage, and got on the side of Dilana
and started dancing all crazy! (Dilana never skipped a beat of the song)
Two Security guys ran on stage, grabbed the guy and began dragging him
off. They got him almost off, then he broke loose and started running
back towards Dilana, they grabbed him again, and he began throwing
punches. So, they are on the side of the stage fist fighting this guy,
and got him down, then picked him up and dragged him off behind the
curtain. (Only in Louisiana, right? LOL) Then Dilana finished Zombie,
walked by the drums to get water, on her way back, she picked up a cell
phone. She said "Someone lost thier cell phone on our stage?.......Oh,
it must be that guy's phone that came up here." Then she started
chatting and getting the crowd all reved up:) Then she did "Elenor
Rigby" (I will try to remember most of the songs, but I know I will
forget some). She performed "Wonderfool" from her 2000 CD titled
Wonderfool. Then she did a new original called "Ice" (VERY GOOD SONG).
Then she told us the story about her friend Tabby with cancer (Tabby was
there). She said Tabby was a fan, that has been battleing cancer for 2
years. One of Tabby's wishes was to get to know Dilana. They became
friends, and when Dilana was in Atlanta for the tour, Dilana's
ex-husband (who is from Houma, La) flew Tabby to Atlanta and Tabby
continued the tour with Dilana. Dilana's ex was there. She said "I have
to thank my wonderful ex-husband, Dickie Robicheaux, for flying Tabby to
Atlanta. I love you Dickie! I would do anything for that man!" She went
on to tell us the the next song was written 2 weeks ago, for Tabby. It
is called "Loud Silent Noise". I don't remember all the words, but some
lyrics were like "your body is crumbling........don't give up, don't
give in, you must believe and keep on fighting" It was a bitter-sweet
moment. Then she tlked to us some more, telling us her ex-inlaws cooked
the best cajun food for her and the band earlier. She told us that Houma
is home to her. She said, "When I was on that show, I should have put I
was from Louisiana, instead of Texas, but it was a buisness decision.
(because Texas has a bigger poppulation)." She couldn't put South
Africa, where she grew up, because the show wasn't airing there. But
Houma really felt like home. Se went on to talk about all the local
places she loves and her local friends. Then she sung a song called
"You're like a drug". Then she did "Roxanne", she said that was the last
song, and they left the stage.......then they came back:) She then did
"Ring of Fire", then "Bobby MaGee" (sp?) by Janis Joplin. Then she did a
song I think is called "Wicked Games". Then she closed the concert with
another original song. She is staying here for the holidays. I will
really meet her Dec.
28. She will be at the local Harley Davidson Shop for a meet and greet
with her fans. I can't wait wait for that!!!!!!! She is a really nice
person. All the proceeds of tonight's concert are going to Tabby and
Tabby's 11 year old son. Dilana was alot of fun, and made this concert
very intimate. We had great seats, floor, center stage, approx. 25 feet
from her! Her voice is even better live, alot better! Practice has made
her perfect:) I am looking forward to getting to talk with her on the
28th, and get some pictures! (Cameras were not allowed in....but people
that had cell phones with cameras were taking pics anyway) Anyway,
that's the recap:) Kristen
