CIF Seeks Submissions for its 2006 Festival
The Chicago Improv Festival, a juried and professional festival that
celebrates improvisational expressions in all of its comedic and
multi-disciplinary forms, on November 15, 2005 at 9 a.m. (CST) will
begin accepting submissions for performance in the 9th Annual Chicago Improv

2006 Festival Theme
After receiving its Not-For-Profit 501(c)3 certification from the
IRS, the Chicago Improv Festival has undergone several organizational
changes in its administration. CIF's new Festival Artistic Director,
Mark Sutton, has selected a theme for the 2006 festival.

This year's festival will highlight IMPROV AS THEATER. We will give special
attention to improv's role in the theater process as well as
work highlighting the art form's use as a writing tool, teaching
medium, and performance avenue. Consideration will be given, not only to the
content of a performance, but also it's style, theatrical
presentation, overall look and tone, and attempt to advance and
refine improvisation for performance to audiences.

Artistic Categories

Main Stage: shows that can comfortably perform well in a 950 seat theatre
Showcase: ensemble improvised shows (long-form, mid-form, or short-form) Sketch:
ensemble sketch shows

1-Replace Bob Pisano immediately. A former MGM exec has no business
running a union. He has also cheated actors out of untold millions
by conveniently taking the DVD issue off the negotiating table. You
sort of glossed over that but that is the central issue for actors.

2-Replace many of the careerist, redundant upper level staff with
more field reps. We need more field reps actually enforcing
contracts rather than highly paid office staff kowtowing to Mr.
Pisano for higher paychecks.

Over the 8 year period I worked on sets doing union background and
standin work, I rarely witnessed SAG reps enforcing contracts,
especially ensuring that the actual numbers of SAG actors were being
hired per contracts. There has been massive cheating on this that
should result in a massive class action suit against the producton
companies and SAG.

3-Again, enforce contracts-You regulars on here are constantly
harping on GR-1, financial core, how we should punish SAG actors
doing nonunion, when you fail to apply any sensible standards to
SAG. SAG is paid millions of our dues to ENFORCE contracts. This is
not being done. They are constantly brokerng sweetheart deals
cheating dues payers out of thousands of jobs, ignoring massive
cheating and actually helping the studios blacklist dues paying
actors who attemptto have SAG do its job.

4-Run a transparent union. Dues payers need to know where our money
is going. Instead of SAG Actor running articles about warm and fuzzy
irrelevant issues we need to see full itemizations and a full
accounting mailled to all dues payers of where exactly our money is
going. There are too many cases of accounting secrecy and our dues
money going to pay for inflated real estate costs,
overpaid "consultants" and million dollar referenda initiated to
help agents and producers and not the dues payers. This has to stop!

5-SAG needs to abolish the voucher mode of entry and replace it with
a rational form of entry based on talent, type or work put in to
gain membership. The current system has created a huge illegal
blackmarket for buying SAG vouchers at a markup. Essentially, SAG
has been operating as a Cartel charging what the market will bear
for membership via illegal labor racketeering due to the voucher
system as well as indiscriminate admission of new members primarily
to make money and not for the benefit of members.

SAG needs to start a casting center as an alternative to the private
casting companies that shakedown actors for bribes, calling service
fees and "workshop" fees. Many members have asked for this over the
years only to be ignored and ridiculed by board members. SAG needs
to enforce the rule that CDs not charge for access. Why hasn't this
been done? Who benefits?

6-SAG "leadership" needs to treat all members as equals. And
especially protect the interests of those who need it most rather
than taking their money and dismissing their interests. There should
be no more designating groups as background, voiceover, principal
etc but instead there needs to be enforcement of all contracts for
all members. As any given member may work any of these categories.
The caste mentality of those who have inherited their positions must
stop. SAG and Hollywood is being run by a hereditary caste that must
act responsibly or step aside for leaders who will run SAG and
Hollywood based on principles of equal opportunity and merit,
instead of the current operative principles of nepotism, bribery,
cronyism and corruption.

7-Artists should initiate massive legal actions and letter writing
campaigns as well as get elected to the board to see that we are
compensated for this longstanding, systemic financial fraud against
our community by the business as usual crooked Hollywood and the
company run union SAG.

This was on a web site today:

INFIDELITY (Lifetime) - The telefilm, which stars Kim Delaney, Kyle
Secor and Christián de la Fuente, has been scheduled for Monday,
April 19 at 8:00/7:00c. Here's how Lifetime describes the
project: "Successful career woman Danielle Montet [Delaney] has a
doting husband and a loving marriage. But when she meets a sexy
stranger in a restaurant, her "perfect" world spins out of control.
Torn between a lusty affair and the security of her wedding vows, she
must face the demons of her family's past in order to figure out who
she really is and which man will bring her the happiness that she
desperately craves."

Hey All!

Just to note to let you know that Kim started filming a Lifetime
movie today "Infidelity", which co-stars her old "Philly" buddy Kyle
Secor as her husband. All is not well in the household though,
because Kim's character has an affair with Cristian de la Fuente, who
is described as "hot"! LOL!

Look for it this summer, I believe~

This is from thefutoncritic.com, today...

"PLATONICALLY INCORRECT (ABC) - ABC has officially passed on the
comedy pilot which recently shot a second episode in the hopes of
securing a series order. Tom Everett Scott ("Philly") and A.J. Langer
("My So-Called Life") starred in the comedy, which revolved around
two best friends of the opposite sex who work together as co-hosts of
a "Trading Spaces"-type cable access show but have kept things
strictly platonic. Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah ("Freaks and
Geeks," "Just Shoot Me") were the duo behind the project, which was
being considered for the network's midseason schedule."

I am sorry for all the TES fans in the group.

in the previews, and doesn't look like he is playing a very nice guy.

For anyone who was wondering, which probably isn't a lot, but I'll
say so anyways...the reason I haven't been posting as much as I used
to is because my little brother is just all of the sudden getting
interested in the whole Internet scene. Since he's the youngest, my
mom always lets him get on whenever he wants. Those of you who are
married and have kids, or are in college, or just living on your own,
probably don't realize how lucky you really are. You have authority
in your house, or, more importantly, your own computer. Well, not to
say that I wont be posting much anymore, only that if I read a topic
or statement that I profoundly agree or disagree with, then I'll
speak up, other wise, I will mostly stick to doing my homework. I
still here though, reading everyone's posts and watching all of the
episodes and stuff, just be warned, that's my excuse. This weekend
I'm in Dallas because my cousin's getting married, but no, "kids"
aren't invited to the wedding. So what's my duty? To baby-sit my 2
little sisters and little brother. Uhg! Man, Giles (my little
brother) is once again causing a ruckus in the next room. Gotta go
straighten things out. Talk to you guys later.

XoXo

Oops - with the Blue premiere this week, I forgot to check this board
for a while~~

Anyway, I would love to continue the Philly fanfic, however, like
Tina, I know that I do not have time right now to work on it but if
any of the other writers (or new blood) want to take up where the
story left off and continue on their own "thread" -- I can post a
link to their fanfic or possibly host their work at kd.org. I had a
lot of great ideas for my continued story, but it's just one more
project I don't have time for now. Thanks to all who read and gave us
feedback!

Dina :)

As you all know, I am in New York (Upstate) as I have been since July 15th. I've
tried to get to a computer as much as I could while up here, but Tomorrow,
(Saturday) My dad, little brother, and two little sisters fly in, and the
following day we leave for a road trip. FIVE DAYS IN A CAR WITH A 3 YEAR OLD
SISTER, A 4 YEAR OLD SISTER, AND A VERY ANNOYING 10 YEAR OLD BROTHER. The Girls
aren't as bad, but, I am not really looking foward to it. Well, after we get
back, my step mom flies in, and the next day, the reunions start. Friday,
Saturday and Sunday, that is. Monday we'll be busy packing up our things, and
Tuesday morning (August 12th) we fly back to San Antonio. I won't have even five
minutes spare time, let alone a half hour of which it takes me to walk to the
library, get on the computer, get off, and walk home. Sorry for the big GAP in
my attendance, but I just wanted everyone to know why. For anyone who has
birthdays from now until then, Happy Birthday, Best of wishes, and I'll talk to
you guys soon. Adios!

dates for its fall schedule, it did confirm its new Thursday drama

I finally got a copy of this amazing episode and wanted to express
my opinions.
Only one word that will sum up this episode wow!!!
-He has a brother who calls him Gus, i didn't know that
-He is a lot better looking in Philly than in the Pretender.
-He was such a gentlemen in this episode even though he was though
on kathleen in the courtroom.
-The surprise thing is this episode was the fact that both Dan and
Ane have not gotten over the divorce of Dan and kathleen.Anne still
calls Dan her son in law and Dan still calls Anne mum.
-also i know i have only seen the first 4 episodes then this one but
when does Erin get introduced.
-Terry is an arshole but i think that suits him.
-Trish has the best one liners ever.
-And it was obvious that kathleen was very nervous around Jack when
they were having dinner and coffee and even in the garage. The thing
that would have been interesting if kathleen had not of stop when
she did in the garage.
-Even the compliment that jack gave her in the courtroom was
different.

Tomorrow morning at 6:15 I leave for New York. I'm Sure there'll be a
computer at my relatives' house that I can use, but by the chance that there's
not,
no need to worry. I'm going to be up there for about a month, and although I
know I'll be able to get to a computer up there, it may take me a few days to
find one. So if by chance you were really bored one day and you said to
yourself, "I wonder what happened to that one girl from my Yahoo Group that
always
babbles on about nothing," have no fear, I'll be back. Tomorrow is the first
time
I've ever flown alone, but I'm sure it will be fun. I'll talk to you guys as
soon as possible.

xoxo

Mary Cecilia

Just saw Terminator Whatever-Number-They're-Up-To and Kristanna knocks
'em dead as the bodaciously-upgraded TX model. With a cobra's stare and
steely pout, she makes for a formidable and humorous villain. I didn't
care for it in the previews, but it's quite effective in the movie--her
performance gets chillier the longer she's on screen, and it never
loses impact. Note: That scene mentioned on this board where she enters
a 7/11 and grabs a lot of junk and eats it on the spot was apparently
edited out--instead, we just see the part where Arnold's shoplifting,
right before it.

Additional note: her character can perform DNA tests with her tongue.
Now if she only owned a liquor store, she'd be the perfect woman!

I'm gonna get roasted for that last remark, aren't I? ;)

That's so bizarre! Do they usually show random shows like that?!

Too bad US TV isn't so unpredictable!
