Dear South Jersey Progressives,

As you probably have heard by now, Rob Andrews has launched a campaign against Senator Frank Lautenberg. This Results in a better chance to get our candidate, Dr. Mahdi Ibn-Ziyad being elected to the 1st District.

Lets take advantage of this  great opportunity to elect someone "outside" the South Jersey political machine, who is free from the party influence and free from corporate donations.

In reviewing Norcross' shortlist of the 16 choices under consideration to run in the vacant 1st district , the range goes from bad to painfully  worse.

There seems to a couple of  common factors amongst the names.   Eminent domain has shown up in a few of their back grounds [ taking private land for use of private developers, instead of, for the public good] , and most of them hold very strong ties to the Norcross Political Machine.

One is in favor of unregulated purchase of hand guns. Some are double dippers [holding more than one political position,such as; mayor/assemblyman] and one is Rob's wife.....do we really want another one in there? Like haven't we had enough of Bushes and Clintons scenario?

Now I call on everyone in South Jersey to stand up and lets show them we aren't going to take it anymore ! Lets show the rest of New Jersey we have what it takes to stop the corruption in South Jersey.

There are other areas of the country that are doing the same thing as we are, replacing long term partyline candidates with Progressive values candidates  and everyday the list grows longer. If we are ever going to have a governor or senator from South Jersey, we have to clean up the political mess.

People are tired of  just letting the partyline pick the candidates..and having to repay favors to contributors after they have helped to support their campaigns...lets put that choice back in the hands of the people... Lets stop the pay to play situations in 2008.

But we need people , we need you ! to help against the heavily funded Camden Political Machine, and of course we also need money.

Tomorrow, Sunday April 6th  there will be a volunteer meeting at the Victor, 1 Market St, Camden at 1:30, please join us and lets end the corrupted politics in South Jersey, remember only we can do that !!!!!!!!!!!!!

As for the Senate race:

I know there are some out there ,who still remember this fine young man who had so much promise , and for unknown reasons took a sharp turn to the right....and  that no matter how bad Rob's record has been in comparison to Lautenberg, you will still vote for Rob, because he's from South Jersey.

For others, I include these points for you as reminders of what Rob has heaped upon us and  to take comfort in choosing the right candidate  .

  • Not only in 2000 but also in 2005 Rob voted for the Bankruptcy Act, which prohibited many from getting off under debt resulting from : over 50% of the cases due to high medical expenses, 17-18% due to loss of employment and being hired at a lower wage,devastating divorces, thus causing the foreclosure rate to go  up .
  • Rob acted as Bush's architect in drawing up the resolution for the war and recruiting other members of Congress to join under the guise of fear mongering, when there was sufficient knowledge prior to Oct. 2002 that there were no WMD's .http://www.house.gov/andrews/pressarchive/92902oped.html
  • Voted against cheaper drugs from Canada, but allows tainted drugs from China.
  • Voted for the Patriot Act
  • Voted for Military Commissions Act
  • Voted to remove Habeas Corpus from the Constitution

Ralph Nader to Speak on Impeachment at Constitution Center on Saturday

By Ralph Nader
http://afterdowningstreet.org/node/32469

As you know, Obama, Clinton and McCain have taken impeachment of Bush
and Cheney off the table.

Nader/Gonzalez want to put it back on.

Our campaign will be impeachment central for this momentous election year.

If you haven't already, please visit our web site (votenader.org), and
sign up.

We're the only campaign <http://www.votenader.org/issues/> that will cut
the bloated wasteful military budget, reverse U.S. policy in the Middle
East, put impeachment on the table, stand up to the corporate crooks and
corporate welfare kings, and support a single payer, public insurance,
private delivery health care system.

We're building a nationwide campaign to end the corrupt two party
duopoly and pressure the complicit Democrats to do their duty and
impeach the two unaccountable outlaws in the White House.

No one should be above the law.

On Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 6 p.m., I'll be giving a major impeachment
address at the historic National Constitution Center
<http://www.votenader.org/media/2008/04/03/independent-presidential-candidate-ralph-nader-in-philadelphia/>
in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

If you are in the area, please join our rally in a call to bring Bush
and Cheney to justice.

If not, again, please sign up <http://www.votenader.org/> at
votenader.org, donate <https://www.votenader.org/forms/contribute/>
whatever you can to fuel our 50-state campaign, and tell your friends
about votenader.org.

Thank you for your dedication to peace and justice.

Onward

Text of New Hampshire HR24:

PETITION TO COMMENCE IMPEACHMENT PROCEDURES
IN THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS

WHEREAS, Section 603 of the Manual of the Rules of the U.S. House of Representatives provides for impeachments to be initiated on a motion based on charges transmitted from a state legislature, and

WHEREAS the right to vote, being the right that protects all other rights, and the right which ratified the Constitutions of our state and country, is a right that is collectively inalienable,  in that elections may not be generally suspended or terminated; and,

WHEREAS under Paragraph 2 of the Declaration of Independence, our government is "instituted to secure these rights", including the right of elections, which are necessary to Liberty; and,

WHEREAS the Executive branch is responsible for enforcing the law and guaranteeing these rights; and,

WHEREAS, instead of ensuring that the people of New Hampshire have guaranteed to them mechanisms for reliably altering or abolishing their representatives, pursuant to Paragraph 2, President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney have engaged in a pattern and practice of threatening litigation against states and people who refuse to institute mechanisms of voting that require votes to be counted in trade secrecy and outside the observation and control of citizens; and,

WHEREAS, the invisibility and secret vote counting means that citizens no longer control their elections, and that members of the Executive branch and the Election Assistance Commission do control elections, together with any criminal who may seek to alter the trade secret software; and,

WHEREAS, President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney have committed high crimes and misdemeanors, as they have repeatedly and intentionally violated the United States Constitution and other laws of the United States, particularly the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and the Torture Convention, which, under Article VI of the Constitution is a treaty as part of the “supreme law of the land," and,

WHEREAS, President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney have acted to strip Americans of their constitutional rights by ordering indefinite detention of citizens, without access to legal counsel, without charge, and without opportunity to appear before a civil judicial officer to challenge the detention, based solely on the discretionary designation by the President of a U.S. citizen as an “enemy combatant", all in subversion of law; and,

WHEREAS, President George W. Bush and Vice-President Cheney have ordered and authorized the Attorney General to override judicial orders for the release of detainees under U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (formerly INS) jurisdiction, even though the judicial officer, after full hearing, has determined that a detainee is held wrongfully by the Government; and,

WHEREAS, President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney have  ordered at least thirty times the National Security Agency to intercept and otherwise record international telephone and other signals and communications by American citizens without warrants from the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court of Review, duly constituted by Congress in 1978, and designated certain U.S. citizens as “enemy combatants," all in violation of constitutional guarantees of due process; and,

WHEREAS President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney have admitted that they willfully and repeatedly violated the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act and boasted that they would continue to do so, each violation constituting a felony; and,

WHEREAS, President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney have violated the United Nations Charter and other treaties prohibiting aggressive war, by invading Iraq without just cause or provocation, and have misled the US Congress by deliberate or negligent falsehoods to obtain the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq resolution (Public Law 102-1); and,
Whereas, President George W. Bush has now admitted that his 20-Year "War on Terror" includes a permanent U.S. presence in Iraq and the Middle East, consisting of a lavish embassy and dozens of military bases; and,

Whereas, President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney continue to authorize the use of depleted-uranium (DU) munitions in Iraq and Afghanistan, the use of which spreads radioactive contamination to non-targets, including innocent civilians, animals, food and water sources, and the use of which has been declared illegal by the United Nations  Subcommittee on Human Rights; and,

Whereas, President George W. Bush has subverted the laws of our nation, in whole or in part, through the use of "signing statements" on more than 1200 occasions, unprecedented in U.S. history,

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: the HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES  OF THE NEW HAMPSHIRE GENERAL COURT submits that the actions and admissions of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney  constitute ample grounds for their impeachment, and that the House of Representatives of the New Hampshire General Court has good cause for submitting charges to the U.S. House of Representatives under Section 603, as grounds for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney.

The House of Representatives of the New Hampshire General Court further submits that Articles of Impeachment should charge that President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney have violated their constitutional oaths to execute faithfully the office of President and Vice-President to the best of their ability to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

In all of this, President George W. Bush and Vice-President Richard Cheney have acted in a manner contrary to their trust as President and Vice-President, subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of the State of New Hampshire and of the United States.

WHEREFORE, President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney, by such conduct, warrant impeachment and trial, removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any offices of honor, trust or profit under the United States.

Be it resolved further by the legislature of the State of New Hampshire, that our senators and representatives in the United States Congress be, and they are hereby, requested to cause to be instituted in the Congress of the United States proper proceedings for the investigation of the activities of President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney, to the end that they may be impeached and removed from such office.

Be it resolved further, that the Secretary of State of the State of New Hampshire be, and is hereby, instructed to certify to each Senator and Representative in the Congress of the United States, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, under the great seal of the State of New Hampshire, a copy of this resolution and its adoption by the legislature of the State of New Hampshire.  The copies shall be marked with the word "Petition" at the top of the document and contain the original authorizing signature of the Secretary of State.

Date and Time:

9PM  Eastern Time

7:00 PM Pac.

Conference Access Number:

As I look at the expanding list of actions being taken across this country, I still have to ponder why there are so many who sit idly by.

  • Are they not repulsed by the needless deaths of our troops resulting from Bush’s & Cheney’s crimes?
  • How can they justify the deaths and brutal injuries inflicted upon the innocent Iraqi children?
  • Have they no moral fiber? No conscience?

Every day we allow this administration to remain in power, we are sanctioning their crimes, and being accomplices to the murders of too many guileless victims.

If they think the 2008 Presidential elections will be the magic cure, didn’t they learn from 2006. The magic isn’t in the elections, the magic is in us. We are the only ones who can turn things around, but we need to form a united front if we are to succeed. Wishing for peace is not enough; there will be no peace without justice. Until we restore the laws of this nation, and take a stand against the fascist greed; wars and unrest will rule society.

Monday’s conference call is to discuss coordination of media manipulation and strategies for pushing impeachment successfully through to proceedings in Congress --- AND in the legislatures of New Hampshire, New Jersey, Vermont etc.

Agenda:

1. New Hampshire’s push to pass resolution

2. New Jersey’s plans for Pelosi’s visit later this week in Princeton.

    a) John Heuer of Grass Roots Impeachment Movement from North Carolina has some good tips to share.

    b) other items to address for that day- time to gather, props, actions.

    c) ways to utilize the Bus for Change and loud speaker system.

    d) getting the media there.

3. Ways to support Vermont and Maine’s actions

4. Looking for volunteers to harass Nadler again in NY….or other ways we can provide support to the   Sharon Lynch’s group .

5. Ways we can get the word out about the actions taking place in Philly to get resolution passed there.

If I forgot anyone or anything that we should cover in the call, please let me know and I will add you to the list.

Also I want to leave you with this thought, “there still is a nuclear warhead missing from that strange incident last Aug.29 & 30 ,( http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=7158) and now we have a B-2 stealth bomber that crashed ( http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5gqW1MIwJ3oWiNxJwqePcVNtXrmfg )  or was it ?” Check out of some of the names linked to both of these stories.

With the pressure increasing for impeachment and Bush making claims that there is another attack coming worse than 911, because Congress has refused him the extension on the Fisa bill and issued contempt against Bolten and Miers, you never know what this mad man is capable of doing.

Below is some background on each of the actions that maybe discussed on the call. Please read them over to be familiar with the topic before hand.

Catch you on the call

Peace

New Hampshire:

Press Release from Betty Hall

An Historic Week in the N.H. Legislature.

The New Hampshire House State Federal and Veterans Affairs Committee held a Public Hearing on HR24  PETITION TO COMMENCE IMPEACHMENT PROCEDURES IN THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS.  The sponsor, Representative Betty Hall of Hillsborough County District 5  (the towns of Hollis, Brookline and Mason) presented testimony (speech attached)  followed by Paul Lehto an expert witness in the field of Election Law from Michigan, Selectman  Dan DeWalt of Newfane Vermont, and  John Kaminski  of Maine Lawyers for Democracy  and Herbert Hoffman of the Maine Campaign to Impeach.  Members of the public came from all over New England and some as far as New Jersey.  The Public Hearing started at 1 PM and ran until 5 PM when the Chairman,  Representative Kris Roberts  of Keene closed the hearing before all the members of the public who had signed up to speak had spoken.  He accepted any written testimony from these people if they had their testimony in writing.

The State Federal and Veterans Affairs Committee held their session for determining  the Committee recommendation to the House, called the Majority Report.  This meeting of the members of the Committee, the Executive Session, was held the next morning on February 20, 2008.   The motion of Inexpedient to Legislate was made by Representative Pamela Coughlin of Mont Vernon, the former Republican Chair of the Committee in the previous biennium.   This is the motion made to recommend killing the Resolution when it comes to the floor of the House for final disposition by all the House members, sometime in mid March.

Representative Lars Christiansen strongly objected to not having the opportunity to read and see all  the testimony that was presented at the end of the meeting in writing or DVD form and left the meeting before the voting in protest.  The Chairman had the material duplicated and those present each had the opportunity to read the testimony that was available.  Not all the members of the public who had signed up to speak had written testimony available.

Then the vote was taken and there were 10 members who voted not to recommend the  passage of the Resolution to the full House, and 5 members who disagreed with the Majority. The Minority  agreed to offer its recommendation to pass the Resolution, separately to the House.  Representative Eleanor Kjellman  of Henniker wrote the Minority Report.  Both Reports will appear in the Calendar.  The full House will vote in mid March.

Pennsylvania : Philadelphians (and Neighbors) for a City Council Impeachment Resolution
sponsored by World Can't Wait-Philadelphia
Organizational Meeting - Tuesday, February 26th, 2008- 7:00 PM - Friends Center - 1501 Cherry Street

Invite everyone you think who might be interested.  Are you part of other progressive groups in and around Philadelphia?  Spread the word.  This is going to have to be a cooperative effort among many groups in order to work.   We need to collect signatures and make our presence known in public and in the media.

Hundreds of elected officials, state legislatures, statewide political committees, state legislative districts, cities, towns, and counties that have passed resolutions calling for impeachment.

(See the full list at http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/resolutions-list).

Should Philadelphia be added to this list?

-As the sixth largest city in the nation, Philadelphia would be by far the largest city to officially support impeachment. If the City Council passed a resolution it would get media attention nationwide.

-Since Philadelphia was the location where the Constitution was signed and the process of impeachment was made law, the passing of a resolution here would have enormous symbolic significance. This is another reason why a resolution here would get national attention.

-It is very likely that a majority of Philadelphians support impeachment. 80% of registered voters voted against Bush's reelection in 2004. According to a 2005 voting study, Philadelphia is the third-most liberal city in the country with a population over 1,000,000 (
http://www.govpro.com/News/Article/31439/). Representative Bob Brady is one of the sponsors of H.R. 333. Given these facts it would be easy to collect signatures and recruit people to a resolution campaign.

If you believe impeachment is urgent and possible please join our campaign to get a resolution passed in the Philadelphia City Council.

SPREAD THE WORD...LET'S GET ORGANIZED...WE NEED THE MASSES !!!!!!!

Hi Gang...

Sue O'Connell just passed this onto me, and I thought what great timing!

Are you tired of Pelosi's excuses for not ending the war, for not holding this administration accountable, for not  upholding her oath of office????? By now it should be clear to everyone, why she hasn't done anything to correct these situations since she has become Speaker.
She was complicit when she learned of the wire tapping and torture and kept silent , now  she too could be held accountable for high crimes. I am so embarrassed that this is the First Woman Speaker of the House to think she was more interested in keeping her seat on a committee ,too afraid to risk prison,for speaking the truth,  instead she failed to fulfill her oath of office to protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies , foreign and domestic. Truthfully looking at her makes me as sick as when I see Bush !!!!!!!!!

 I will set up a conference call for sometime next week, and hopefully someone from each group can be on to present their ideas. Let's give her a RED HOT roasting welcome. In between time, you can email me at ProgressiveDemocracySoJersey@... or roses4joanne@..., or give me a call...always  happy to hear from all of you ...

Hugs everyone,
Joanne O'Neill
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you will join the conversation with Speaker Nancy Pelosi when she makes her first trip to New Jersey since being elected Speaker of the House.  Please save the date of Friday, February 29th, for a luncheon in Princeton in support of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and my reelection campaign.
Not only has it been my goal to represent the people of the 12th Congressional District to the best of my ability, but I also have a responsibility to ensure democratic values nationally.  This event is an opportunity to expand my role as a leader and build our party.  I hope you will support me in this effort.
A formal invitation with more details will follow.  If you have questions or would like more details as they develop please call Matt at (609) 278-0800 or email Matt@....  I hope to see you at the luncheon with the Speaker on Feb. 29.
Sincerely,
RUSH HOLT
Member of Congress
Dear Impeachers,
I know we did a great job when we took on Nadler in NY  last week. He was a little upset with us to say the least and I hope maybe we can get some people out to these  events. Nadler was  taken back when everyone else sat down, but the 4 of us in the back ,remained standing with our big I-M-P-E-A-C-H letters proudly displayed during the whole time he spoke.
Right now gang, I am not doing too well, I will be going in for my work up this week, lets  hope I am just exhausted and will be back to norm soon, but it was the reason I didn't make the Peace Conference. I think its best  for a week or 2 ,until I get the Benefit for the Winter Soldier over with, for me to watch not to  over do. Besides we have a bunch of other meetings and events going on within the next couple of weeks, so I won't be sitting on my duff.
If you are interested and want to raise the subject of Impeach to Hillary or the others, Please let me know if you are  able to go , & to which one and I will pass the info along to others.
Also for the Central New Jersey Gang ...there is a website I stumbled upon already set up Impeach Bush & Cheney.
If you want to sign up there, I would just send to that one site instead of individually.
Sunday – January 13 – 1:00 to 3:00PM   <as discussed on our Impeachment call last night, this is part of the bird dogging of
Presidential candidates and members of the House of Representatives.
 Nadler on Sunday
Let Rep. Jerrold Nadler Know We Want Impeachment This Sunday
Nadler will speak on behalf of Hillary Clinton at a candidates forum on
AT Fulton Hudson Guild * 1 to 3PM
119 9th Ave.
Between 17th & 18th Streets.
New York NY
Here's a great opportunity to ask Congressman Jerrold Nadler very
publicly to begin Cheney impeachment hearings
.
The public is demanding it, as are many of his colleagues in Congress
and on the House Judiciary Committee.
But Nadler chairs the Subcommittee on the Constitution, and is choosing
not to uphold the Constitution.
In November, the full House voted to send a resolution to impeach Cheney
to the Judiciary Committee, and it was placed in Nadler's subcommittee.
Nadler claims that impeachment is no longer a part of the Constitution,
because we now have political parties.
But we had parties when we held Nixon accountable. We've always had parties.
No one can guarantee that Republicans in the Senate won't vote to convict
the least popular vice president in history.
And impeachment even without conviction would establish a serious level of
accountability, put Bush and Cheney on the defensive, and announce the
birth of a real opposition party in Washington.
PS: Sarah ....Margaret was wondering if she could ride up with you ?
I want to report we had a really great conference call last night , with lots of great suggestions and actions to follow up on. I will be sending out a complete breakdown of what was discussed  either later tonight or tomorrow for others to decide what actions they wish to be involved in.
I will be setting up another call for the earlier part of next week and I will include the date, time and numbers in the other email
There's lots to do ....get involved....we don't have time to waste. Bush is cranking up to attack Iran..... we need to flood Congress with calls , emails and letters, stop the war, start impeachment. Impeachment is the only way we will get anything done.
Peace
Joanne
This news item almost reads likes a plot line out of the movie thriller "The Translator" or "The Breach." Yet often reality is stranger than fiction in the world of espionage. Dear Progressives,
In an attempt to shed some light on the candidates, I have taken and compiled a breakdown showing the candidates and who is advising their campaigns. I believe every voter should be aware of who they are voting for and what exactly you may wind up getting.
At the  bottom of the email I have placed a link to a site where you can match your view on issues with presidential candidates. Please take a couple of minutes to answer the questions....you may be surprised to find out who you should be voting for !!!!
Vote for Change? Atrocity-Linked U.S. Officials Advising Democratic, GOP Presidential Frontrunners
Excerpts from Democracy Now - Thurs. Jan. 3, 2008
AMY GOODMAN: Presidential candidates are scrambling to win last-minute support in Iowa ahead of tonight’s caucus. Thousands of reporters have also descended on Iowa this week, covering everything from Mike Huckabee’s haircut to John Edwards’s rally with singer John Mellencamp.
But little attention has been paid to perhaps one of the most important aspects of the candidates: their advisers, the men and women who likely form the backbone of the candidate’s future cabinet if elected president. Many of the names will be familiar.
Advisers to Hillary Rodham Clinton include many former top officials in President Clinton’s administration:
  • former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright - main force behind the Iraq sanctions that killed more than 400,000 Iraqi civilians
  • former National Security Adviser Samuel Berger -
  •  former UN Ambassador Richard Holbrooke - during Carter administration oversaw the shipment of weapons to the Indonesian military as they were illegally invading East Timor and killing a third of the population there,   and he was the one who kept the UN Security Council from enforcing its resolution against that invasion
  • General Wesley Clark -  ran the bombing of Serbia in the former Yugoslavia, came out and publicly said that he was going after civilian targets, like electrical plants, & TV station there
  • General Jack Keane & Michael O’Hanlon - backers of the Iraq invasion and occupation and the recent escalation
  • Strobe Talbott -  during the Clinton administration, oversaw Russia policy, the backing of Yeltsin, which resulted in turning over the national wealth to the oligarchs and a drop in life expectancy in much of Russia of about fifteen years
Senator Barack Obama’s list includes
  • President Carter’s National Security Adviser Zbigniew Brzezinski - in interview to the French press a number of years ago , boasted about the fact that it was he, who created the whole Afghan jihadi movement, the movement that produced Osama bin Laden
  • former counterterrorism czar Richard Clarke -
  • former Middle East negotiator Dennis Ross.
  • Anthony Lake - main force behind the US invasion of Haiti in the mid-Clinton years, during which they brought back Aristide essentially in political chains, pledged to support a World Bank/IMF overhaul of the economy, which resulted in an increase in malnutrition deaths among Haitians and set the stage for the current ongoing political disaster in Haiti.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
( This section is an excerpt from "War Whispers" article:           Lawrence Korb, a former assistant secretary of defense, is also working with Obama. He is one of many from the Center for American Progress—headed by former Clinton deputy chief of staff and Hillary supporter John Podesta—working with the top tier. Korb has championed a redeployment plan for U.S. troops and recently co-authored an op-ed for the Boston Globe entitled “How to withdraw quickly and safely.”

“I think the neoconservatives have certainly been discredited,” Korb insisted to TAC. “I think that’s what we’re coming back to—getting rid of extremes.”

That said, no less than eight names associated with the Clinton and Obama campaigns—including Indyk, Steinberg, and O’Hanlon—have turned up, in some cases multiple times, on statements and letters authored by the Project for the New American Century, the brainchild of neoconservatives Bill Kristol and Robert Kagan, launched to “accept responsibility for America’s unique role in preserving and extending an international order ,friendly to our security, our prosperity and our principles.”)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 John Edwards          many  military lobbyists are working on the Edwards foreign policy team ; the Edwards names that are out there mainly come from the Army and the Air Force and the Navy Material Command. Those are the portions of the Pentagon that do the Defense contracts, that do the deals with the big companies like Raytheon and Boeing, etc. One of those listed on the Edwards team is the lobbyist for the big military contractor EADS. So, although Edwards talks about going after lobbyists, if he tries to go after the military lobbyists, he may get a little blowback from his own advisers.
  • Derek Chollet,  supports a long-term, albeit smaller, U.S. presence in Iraq, but insists  future foreign interventions shouldn’t be curtailed because of Iraq’s failures
Rudolph Giuliani’s advisers include
  • Norman Podhoretz, one of the fathers of the neoconservative movement,
  • Daniel Pipeshas been leading the charge against “Islamofascism” on college campuses, has put out his Campus Watch, in terms of going after professors that he deems are not pro-Israel enough.
  • Martin Kramer, Stephen Rosen, Peter Berkowitz     of the Hoover Institution
  • neoconservatives from familiar think tanks as , American Enterprise Institute, the Heritage Foundation, Hoover, the Hudson
  • Robert Kasten , major backer of the Pakistani military dictatorships and the Suharto dictatorship in Indonesia
John McCain’s list of official and formal policy advisers includes < This is a super scary list of advisers
  • former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, was responsible for mass death in Cambodia, Vietnam, Chile, countless other places
  • General Colin Powell,
  • William Kristol of The Weekly Standard,  authored  the Project for the New American Century
  • General Alexander Haig,   who oversaw the US policy of mass terror killings of civilians in Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Honduras, when American nuns and religious workers were abducted, raped and murdered by the Salvadoran National Guard
  • Max Boot,   who now points to El Salvador, where 70,000 civilians were killed by American-backed death squads, as a model counterinsurgency, a model for what the US should be doing today
  • Bud McFarlane  (from the Reagan administration) who was a key backer of the Contras.
  • Brent Scowcroft ; during the Bush 1 administration, went to China right after the Tiananmen Square massacre and reassured the Chinese leadership, “Don’t worry about it, we’re still behind you.”
  • and former CIA Director James Woolsey.
Mitt Romney’s top advisers is
  • Cofer Black,   (the former CIA official  now serves as vice chair of Blackwater Worldwide) was one of the key people behind the invasion of Afghanistan and said, “We’re going to go into Afghanistan. We’re going to cut their heads off.
  • Dan Senor, the voice of the early invasion and occupation of Iraq, he’s married to Campbell Brown, who’s been hired by CNN to replace Paula Zahn
advising Fred Thompson
  • Vice President Dick Cheney’s daughter Elizabeth
Huckabee listed
  • former UN Ambassador John Bolton as someone with whom he either has “spoken or will continue to speak,” but Bolton then revealed the two had never spoken.
  • Huckabee also named Richard Allen, but the former National Security Adviser also admitted he had never spoken to Huckabee.
***************************************************************************************
And in reference to Dennis Kucinich's comments on throwing his supporters behind Obama and not Edwards because of Edward's involvement with Hedge Funds... read this commentary below by Allan Nairn:
ALLAN NAIRN: Yeah, Obama—that’s a very telling example. Like Dean in the last campaign, Obama has the ability to get all the money he needs from the middle class through the internet, through $50, $80, $100 contributions. He actually doesn’t need to finance his campaign, to go to the hedge funds, to go to Wall Street. But he does anyway. And he does, I think, because if he doesn’t, they wouldn’t trust him. They might think that he’s on the wrong team, and they might start attacking him. He is someone who, in terms of the money he needs for his campaign, he could afford to come out for single-payer healthcare, for example, but he doesn’t. He doesn’t need money from the health insurance industry, that’s wasting several percentage points of the American GDP in a way that no other industrial rich country in the world does, yet he chooses not to do that, because he doesn’t want to be attacked by those corporations.
Hi All,
Just heard the parade has been delayed for 3 hours and will start at 12:00 noon, instead of 9:00AM . They will be closing the streets at 10:00, so if you can get there by then it would be better for you and less of a walk to the intersection of Broad and Washington.
We will gather between 8:00AM and 9:00AM instead of between 6 - 7:00AM. Bring an umbrella, and I have some yellow Impeach ponchos that John and Allyson gave me Sunday for today. Listen to the radio or TV for any further changes in Parade schedule.
Oh....HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!
Peace
My Dear Progressives,
I want to thank everyone for a splendid joint effort today, and for the wonderful response to John Nirenberg's visit to Independence Mall. In addition , everyone who collected signatures on petitions for John to deliver to Pelosi. (Watch for details of John's attempt to deliver the petitions and hopefully there will be a number of supporters who will join him that day !)
Special Thanks goes to Monique, Amy, MontcoDFA gals: Mavra, Mary and Kay; Phyllis, Cheryl, Arn, Nancy&Ray, Dave Lindorff, Stuart Hutchinson, Bill Perry,Rob Kall, my hubby - Tim, and especially to John and Allison Nirenberg for all they are doing, in trying to bring attention to our cause.....IMPEACH BUSH & CHENEY.
It was wonderful seeing so many there from our Statewide New Jersey Impeach Group. You are truly great !!!!!!!!!!!!!
My love and graditude to all.....for you are true Patriots who really want to end the war, to establish peace and restore our Constitution. For all of you exemplify my saying....." Without Justice, There can be no peace!!!!!!"
Which brings me to our next event on Tuesday, January 1, 2008......THE MUMMER'S PARADE !!!!!!!!!!
I received approval from Impeach Bush Cards. com and I can enlarge the 52 cards to poster size along with acknowledgement of his site. I will have Tim working feverishly all day tomorrow to put them together. So that means I need at least 52 volunteers, each to hold one card.
On the backs, I will have single letters spelling out IMPEACH BUSH & CHENEY NOW !   That would give us 2 complete spellings with the 52 cards (complete with spaces).
Phyllis was very kind to print up 2000 of our  action flyers to hand out at the parade:
In case you failed to pick up flyers announcing our actions for the Mummers, you can print out the flyer here :
Front of Flyer :
Back of Flyer :
In Closing , please let me know who would like one of the Uncle Sam hats to wear that day. I had them at Independence Mall today, but no one took theirs.....I really don't want to cart 4 boxes again on Tuesday unless I know someone is going to want them . Besides I will have 2000 handouts and the posters to handle. Unless I can get some volunteers to help us to carry them????
Thanks again for all you do....and let's keep trying to reach the masses who fail to see our country is in dire trouble and continue to believe by some miracle things will change.
Hey....."Nothing Changes...If  Nothing Changes...and the only one who can change it is you!"
Walking the Talk for Impeachment - John Nirenberg to Arrive in Philly
“Man Marching from Boston to DC to be Joined by Local Supporters
Flyer for Rally tomorrow: < takes a little time to load
Philadelphia  – A warm welcome is planned for this Sunday, December 30 at Independence Mall at 1:00 PM, where  groups from Philadelphia and South Jersey will gather to demonstrate their commitment to John Nirenberg’s  “March in my Name” 485 mile trip from Boston to Nancy Pelosi’s office in Washington DC.
John Nirenberg of Brattleboro, VT, started his walk on December 1st from Faneuil Hall in Boston, MA to gather petitions for the Impeachment of Bush and Cheney, along with spurring attention to the  dire Constitutional crisis we face.
“We voted for change in 2006,” Nirenberg says, “but the Democrats aren’t doing what we elected them to do. The war goes on; the torture continues. Torture! Can you believe we actually discuss water-boarding, and the ‘legality’ of beating prisoners until they’re just short of organ failure and death? And what about suspending the right of habeas corpus? And of conducting illegal spying on American citizens? What has happened to this country? And why have we let it? The Bush/Cheney administration must be held accountable for their unquestionable ‘high crimes and misdemeanors’ and their complete disregard for the U.S. Constitution. That’s why I’m marching from Boston to Washington, D.C. I want more Americans to become aware of this appalling situation — and to know that we can do something about it.”
Nirenberg has been met by numerous rallies encouraging him along the way , including New Haven, CT; Providence, RI; Manhattan; Jersey City, Trenton and many more, emphasizing the growing numbers in this country desiring that justice be served and our rights restored.
In Philly, David Lindorff, co-author of “The Case for Impeachment”, Bill Perry – Delaware Valley Vets for Peace and others will present their assessments of Pelosi’s stance of Impeachment being “off the table”.  The community at large is invited to attend to provide their support to John Nirenberg, as their contribution to the restoration of our country to the rule of law.
UPDATE TO 1-2-3 IMPEACHMENT EVENTS- Part II
Mummers Parade – January 1 – Philly
  1. Flyers
    • Should have flyer to hand out at Independence Mall on Jan. 30th announcing our actions at the parade.
    • We need to get the flyers together as soon as possible for distribution. Phyllis has agreed to print a large quantity for our use.
    • Flyers to handout the day of the parade: Sue and Marva did some work putting one together, they are trying to explain why impeachment is necessary  & actions  people can take .Any suggestions or additions please contact Sue at selenasmom@... or Marva at savta7@...
Below is what they presented:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Do You Need a New Years Resolution?

Stand as free men and women and demand the birthright that generations of citizens, immigrants, soldiers, and slaves sacrificed to build.

Ponder this quote taken from Leaflet 3, of the White Rose Society, a group of pacifists in Germany, 1942: “I ask you . . . why do you allow these men who are in power to rob you step by step, openly and in secret, of . . . your rights [one] after another, until one day nothing, nothing at all will be left.” How would you answer that question?

Did you know that James Mason in the Constitutional Convention of 1787 said “No point is more important , than that the right of impeachment, shall be continued. Shall any man be above justice?”

What can you do?

¨      Text Impeach to 30644

¨      Go to www.truemajority.org and sign the petition to impeach Dick Cheney (Dennis Kucinich’s bill H Res 333 (now H Res 799).

¨      Call the Capitol Switchboard at 800-828-0498 and ask for Representative John Conyers, head of the Judiciary Committee.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
2. Location to gather:
  • Everyone thought the intersection of Broad & Washington would be the best location. Only place all bands perform.
  • If we have a big enough turnout, 2nd location would be at City Hall. (important to get head count from groups)
  • Time : between 6AM & 7AM . Have to get there early if we wish to position ourselves for visibility. The crowds arrive early, so it is imperative we have enough committed individuals there during this time period.
3. Identification:
·         I received numerous positive responses for the Uncle Sam hats. I will be ordering 100 of the following type: Red, White & Blue Hi-Hat (25 each) - at Bulk Party SuppliesRed, White & Blue Hi-Hat (25 each)
                                      Item #: CAT-A-66617-25 - full head size. * Pieces/Pkgs per Case:   25
Total Includes S&H
$129.68
·         Posters :
a.After speaking to a number of people, most seem to agree Posters are necessary. Using foam board with large letters that spell IMPEACH BUSH & CHENEY that could be held up for view to photographers above the parade route. I would like to get permission from http://impeachbushcards.com/ to blow up his cards and use them on the other side for the crowds to view as long as we place his website clearly on each card.
b.Does anyone else have any ideas for identification and promotion of Impeachment? What other actions would you like to see happen that day….besides the real thing…Impeachment of these S.O.B’s?
4. Media Coverage: < Monique I know you are good at this !
·         Again we should send notices to the Press that we plan to show support for Impeachment at the Mummers Parade. Do I have any volunteers to put the word out? I will divide the list up….to make it easier.
·         How about a volunteer to write a Press Release?
5. Sponsors & Endorsers
  • I know Bill Perry mentioned other groups, and I’m sorry if they are not included below, but for the Groups I do have listed, I’m still not sure who wants to be a sponsor or who wants to be endorsers on all 3 events.
Below is a partial list of the groups who have said they are interested in all or some of the events. If each group could spell out which events they are participating in and whether they plan to be a sponsor or be just endorsers.
PDA / DFA Progressive Democracy South Jersey
Mainline Citizens for Impeachment
Delaware Valley Vets for America
MoveOn's King of Prussia Regional Council
PRAWN
Philly Code Pink
MontCo DFA
World Can’t Wait
  • To those groups who wish to be included on the flyers, please get your information to me as soon as possible.
If there are any additions or suggestions, please let me know. I will pass them onto the others.
Peace
Joanne
My Dear Progressives,
Over the past couple of weeks we have seen a ground swell in the support for the Impeachment of Vice President Dick Cheney. And up until about 6 weeks ago, most had given up hope of ever seeing this administration held accountable for their crimes. Thanks to the spearheading of PDA's Matt Gerbasi, in rallying the Impeachment groups across the country, Dennis Kucinich was encouraged to present a "Privilege Resolution " on the floor of the house this past Tuesday, November 6th.
Although the media has tired to black it out, the Democrats plan of having  it tabled ...failed , much to their surprise ,when the Republicans called them on the Resolution, and voted to send it to the Judiciary Committee. Now we have the task of making sure it doesn't languish in the Judiciary Committee and they act upon it.
Needless to say, it takes money to advance the progressive agenda, and PDA has led the way in opening doors in Congress, and building alliances with other major activist groups.Like joining with UFPJ in the October 27th events and now UFPJ has finally come out in support of impeachment.  Over the past couple of years, the PDA membership list has grown to over 108,000, regretfully their bank account hasn't .
I am amazed at how much the skelton crew of 3-4 people have been able to accomplish , with so little. Giving of themselves unselfishly, for the good of all. I know the holidays are upon us but I am asking you to give yourself, your children and grandchildren the best gift of all. Hope for a better future ! Please consider becoming a sustaining contributor ......even if you can give $5.00 a month, by skipping one lattee a month that would mean so much to advancing PDA's progressive agenda and candidates.
Just imagine, if all of the 108,000 members did that, it would add up to $540,000 a month.....$6,480,000. Of course that is a big dream, but if we could get half to commit, it would still mean $3,240,000, which is considerable , but still peanuts when you are looking to help progressive candidates and provide the best ideas and materials to promote the issues important to the progressive base.
I seldom ask for any monetary support but right now I  kindly request your assistance in supporting PDA as a monthly contributor of $5,$10 or $20.00 , what ever you can afford, or even a one time donation would be greatly appreciated.
Below is a letter from actress, Mimi Kennedy, with details concerning some of the things PDA is trying to accomplish. Please read it and consider making a contribution today.
Thank you so much for all you do, and lets keep pushing for impeachment, we have to stop Cheney from bombing Iran.
In Solidarity
[ PROGRESSIVE DEMOCRATS OF AMERICA ]
Join me in Progressive Challenge 2008 to
build the progressive movement!
Dear Friend,
In my letter  on the PDA website, I wrote about the important role PDA will play in the 2008 electoral cycle. The presidential primary is a whirlwind building to hurricane force, with millions of dollars pouring into the campaigns. (*http://pdamerica.org/articles/news/2007-11-05-23-06-50-news.php)
The peace and justice movement is building too--tens of thousands of people pouring into the streets of American cities on October 27. We are mobilizing to do so, repeatedly, until the end of this illegal, immoral, undeclared war.
PDA was out in force in cities from Boston to Seattle disseminating 30,000 **"Progressive Agenda"  flyers. (**http://progressive2008.org/pdf/progressive-agenda-2008.pdf)
As a partner in our *** "Change makes Change" program, a monthly donation from you will help us print and distribute more Progressive Agendas to more and more people. Can you make a small monthly donation to support our work?                                                          (*** https://www.pdamerica.org/donate-cmc.php )
PDA with the Velvet Revolution, the Backbone Campaign, the Hip-Hop Caucus, ****Democrats.com, Camp Casey Peace Institute, and Justice Through Music developed our *****7-point progressive platform. It is a document to take to every campaign, to the candidates of your choice. Tell them this is the platform by which the progressive movement-- inside and outside the Democratic Party--will measure them. Share it with your friends and neighbors, too.(****http://www.democrats.com/ ) ( *****http://progressive2008.org/pdf/progressive-agenda-2008.pdf)
Our goal is to print and distribute at least 1,000,000 Progressive Agenda flyers by the first primary in January. With your help we can do it. Please become a partner in "Change Makes Change" , or make a one-time donation of $30. That amount will cover the printing and shipping of 100 flyers. ( https://www.pdamerica.org/donate.php )
In presidential primaries, friends often back different candidates--sometimes causing bad feelings or even dividing coalitions. With the Progressive Agenda, we can all work together on what we believe in--regardless of the candidate. And, your support of PDA will ensure that we'll be here to bring progressive activists together, after the storm from the campaigns passes, to continue building the progressive movement, inside and outside the Democratic Party.
Please become a "Change Makes Change" partner, or make a one-time donation  of $30 today.
Peace,
Mimi Kennedy,
*[new] Saxton's Political Games (0.00 / 0)
I saw and spoke to Saxton on Monday, and asked him to support Kucinich's HRes333, and he said he totally disagreed with Dennis and didn't see where this administration committed any crimes.
Now as Democrats if we were smart we would make a big deal with the press and make the repugs put their smart _ _ _ votes into action .
Regretfully, the majority of the Dems won't, a number of our most trusted Dems, say the only reason things keep going the way of the Republicans, is because their base speaks up louder and more frequently.
A group of activists in a private meeting in Philly discussed this problem of how do you get the complacent base to react more. The repugs have a much better rapid response system set up then the Dems and until the Dems get themselves better organized we will get what the repugs give.
Any volunteers to head up a push on the Repugs to go for Impeachment ? Lets hold their feet to the fire !!!!!!!!!!!
The National Initiative for Democracy
READ FULL ARTICLE - CLICK HERE>     http://vote.org/
Government by the People via national ballot initiatives
The National Initiative for Democracy is becoming the first national law since
the Constitution to be ratified by a direct vote of The People!
Written by Presidential candidate ( http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2007/04/28/835/) and former US Senator Mike Gravel (consulting with many) the National Initiative empowers us to share law-making power with representatives, similar to ballot initiatives in 24 States  (http://vote.org/?q=node/27) , but at all levels from national to local and with major improvements (see below.) It empowers We The People to check and balance with legislators, Congress, lobbyists, and money!
Senator Gravel among others tried to get Congress to ratify the similar National Voter Initiative in 1977, but of course Congress refused to share power. Since then, Gravel discovered that the Founders had the same basic problem: the existing 13 Legislatures refused to share real power with the upstart USA. The Founders pondered and arranged so The People ratified the Constitution at the Constitutional Conventions -not the legislatures! James Madison said "The people were in fact, the fountain of all power, and by resorting to them, all difficulties were got over."(See his 2nd response in the 1787 Debate< http://www.yale.edu/lawweb/avalon/debates/831.htm
Now we ask you to read and vote to ratify the National Initiative (http://www.vote.org/vote.htm), to make real the promise of "government by the people." The National Initiative consists of the brief Democracy Amendment ( http://www.vote.org/?q=node/13 ) and the more detailed Democracy Act ( http://vote.org/?q=node/14 ). More info is at Senator Gravel's web site.( http://www.ni4d.us/nationalinitiative.htm )
Real Leaders Agree
This vote is no poll. It's as legal as the conventions which ratified the Constitution. Senator Gravel keeps your email, registered address, etc., with your vote so it can be verified, but will share this data ONLY with the government when ratification is complete: when more than half the people who voted in the previous Presidential election vote for the Initiative ( http://www.vote.org/vote.htm ) . You can change your vote at any time until then. This will take several years.
Kucinich: "If Congress does not impeach President Bush for intentionally misleading the public, the next president should hand over Bush and his administration to law enforcement officials"
By Associated Press
Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich has urged Congress to put an end to the war he says is a "gross immorality."
"The way to end the war is this: The leaders of Congress must go to the president and say, 'Mr. President, we are not going to give you another dime. Use the money you have to bring the troops home,"' the Ohio congressman said.
Countdown: GOP Using Limbaugh’s Attacks On Troops To Raise Campaign Cash
On Friday night’s Countdown, Brandon Friedman, member of VoteVets.org and author, joined Keith Olbermann to discuss his Kos diary , When Chickenhawks Attack,  ( http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/10/5/2204/93831 )and Rush Limbaugh’s relentless assault on our troops. In a sign that the GOP is officially in full panic mode, they’re not only defending Limbaugh, but they’re shamelessly using the scandal to solicit campaign donations.
John Amato: “I’m calling on the Senate to pass an amendment or uphold their latest one and condemn Rush Limbaugh’s cowardly acts on our troops! Soldiers from the 82nd Airborne in Iraq wrote a NY Times op-ed—(http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/08/19/the-war-as-we-saw-it/ )criticizing the war in Iraq, and had the bravery to suggest that it was time to develop an exit strategy. Two of them just died. Are they phonies, Rush? Where’s the “sense of the Senate” on this outrage?
Dear Fellow Patriots,
The time has come to take back our country. It’s apparent the Democrats are only worried about the 2008 election, instead of fulfilling their obligations promised in 2006 to stop the war and hold this administration accountable.
Every day we have our hopes built up that maybe, just maybe the Dems will show some courage and stand up for we the people” and everyday we are delivered another blow.
We have called, emailed, protested, and visited our representatives, at home and in the Halls of Congress to have them  end the warrant less wiretapping, instead they granted Bush more powers; instead of stopping the funding for the war ,they increased funds; instead of questioning Petraeus’ report, they denounced MoveOn; instead of restoring Habeas Corpus, we are reduced to counting votes to which members of Congress are upholding their oath in support of the Constitution.
And now after last week, when the Senate overwhelming passed the Lieberman/ Kyl Amendment, setting the stage for war with Iran, it has become apparent, that “we the people” have to take back control of government, if this nation is to survive.
Now I am presenting to all Americans who are serious about saving our Constitution, and restoring our freedoms, a possible avenue it can be achieved, if we all join together.
To give you a little history behind this. Earlier in the year, Cindy Sheehan, Bill Perry, Cheryl Biren Wright, and I were working on a big event in Philly for the 4th of July, based on the Declaration of Independence. We were to kick it off in Philly, as our Founders did, and proceed to Boston. "Let the Revolution Begin"
Then 4 days before Cindy resigned, I resigned, disgusted and discouraged of attempting to work with the peace groups, and their conflicting egos, and then unknowingly to me, Cindy quit for the same reason, resulting in most of what material I put together , sitting around since then.
The only reason I am attempting to do something again with it, is I am afraid those maniacs in the White House are going to attack Iran, and bring about WWIII.
I have contacted some other PDA impeach groups across the country and I think there is enough interest to make this work. I know our PDA National IOT Impeach coordinator is trying to get a conference call together within the week, for everyone across the country to participate in, and to hear how we plan to proceed.
I suggest that each state have a meeting as soon as possible, to develop their approach within their state.
Keep in mind this is a rough outline, open to suggestions and changes. Also welcome anyone who has expertise into the Constitution and knowledge of how to proceed with initiatives and referendums..
Please give me your thoughts, and ideas.
In peace and Solidarity
Joanne
