Parents for Children was honored to be part of the Tax Protest Rally at the State Capitol, last Sunday, where the above picture was taken. Pictured is Stacey Mathia (center, being interviewed), Independent candidate for Governor, and organizer of this rally in - amazingly - less than 24 hours! Stacey has called for an even bigger rally tomorrow Wednesday the 30th beginning at 2:00pm and continuing until midnight (as this marks the deadline for the new budget, and our legislators have the bad habit of taking things to the very last minute - under threat of government shutdown - to twist arms). Legislators fear that re-election because the electorate.
Tea Parties popped up across Michigan last April 15th as more than 15,000 Michiganders showed up at 20 events across our great state. Over 5,000 people showed up in Lansing, alone - a very powerful message to the State Legislators and our Governor that, "We're mad as hell, and we're not going to take it anymore!" We can no longer tolerate legislators who have lost sight of service to to those who elected them, and who have put their own ambitions above the public good.
