All, i know is they were made with a percentage of Wool in the mix.
Wool is also dam expensive. I'd heard things like Arcrilic Jersey,
Wool Jersey...etc. The Pyjamers certain look like somesort of nylon or
synethic cloth, maybe even silk nylon (watching Judy Gleason the other
day in ATAP) and also the spacesuit. The main uniforms have something
with some weight in 'em otherwise they would not hang the way they do.
Items, in lighter cloth will not 'fall' 'drop'. To lighterweight
cloth for examples can be made to make skirts because they can then
float but not trousers as they need body to 'em. to 'hand' and 'fall'

Almost all cloth is now made up in a different fashion and the 70's
was the begining of this when degrees of polycotton or other
non-crease synethic's started to be mixed into everything beacase
people are not interested in time and effort in laundering such and
expensive upkeep. Wool also can get moth as this is limited in
synethic cloth types.

The industry(film TV)likes wool because it taliors well and as a cloth
it is cool in summer and warm in winter..but it can feel hot and
itchy. ST:TNG started out as spandex, and then became a wool gaberdine
mix. Might be usefull to add to this if i can find it the cost
involved in the cloth used for StarTrek:The Wrath of Khan
uniforms..that was publish in an old StarLog as it'll show just how
expensive one to one copies can be as acting man says.

And Jonathan what sleeve colours would you wear as you don't say?

BLACK HAWK DOWN scribe to take the reigns on Jake Gyllenhaal's
Untitled Moon-based Sci-Fi flick!
Ahoy, squirts! Quint here. So this sci-fi flick, as yet untitled, has
been circling for a bit with Jake Gyllenhaal attached. Doug Liman is
directing and co-wrote the original draft with I LOVE YOU, MAN's John
Hamburg for Paramount. Now Ken Nolan, who scripted BLACK HAWK DOWN
and the in-development-hell ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK remake, is taking a
stab at the material. Hollywood Reporter has the story.

The only thing I know about the flick is that it's an action film
about lunar colonization. I'm sure it'll be big budget spectacle
entertainment, but hopefully Nolan can bring some of the character-
driven tension over from his BLACK HAWK DOWN work.

Anyone think that maybe this is a Space: 1999 remake? Its possible -
that's all I am saying!!!;)

I just listened to episode 1, and it's quite good. The story is set in
Year One and the episode features all of the year One characters
except for Dr. Matthias (at least so far) as well as the Year One
musical score and sound effects.

Needless to say, none of the original actors reprised their roles for
this production, but the cast does a credible job making the
characters' voices recognizable without lapsing into parody. Bruce
Busby does an especially good performance as Victor Bergman.

I'm looking forward to future episodes, but Darker Projects has a
habit of producing them sporadically. Their series "Star Trek: Lost
Frontier" started out with monthly episodes, but then went on an
eight-month hiatus, finally releasing another episode about a month
ago. However long it takes for the next installment, it will be worth
the wait.

I noticed that he put extra spaces in the website URL that don't belong there,
that is why it doesn't open. When you remove the spaces so it appears, it works:

http://www.darkerprojects.com/space1999.php

Opens for me just fine..

Haven't had a chance to listen to this one yet, but I've listened to a
number of other Darker Projects productions and they're very well
done. Acting and production values are top notch.

out, this is definitely the next best thing! How often can we hope for
updates?

Well here is the latest zip update. Found someone whom had zips but
they turned out to be white or silver metal that she'd of sold on at a
very nice price but were of no use. I contacted a shop in Tavistock on
Dartmoor(where Sherlock Holmes confronted the hound of the
Baskervilles....yes the place actually exists!!) and seemed to get
confusing messages from one day to the next as to their exact stock!
Given, that the higher ground around here at the time was somewhat
bogged down with snow i decided that a actual visit to find out the
truth could wait till another day when the weather was better. I am in
Newton Abbott on Friday and i am told there are three sewing outlets
there that i'll have a look to see what is on offer..if anything at all.

The, main dealer i use may of found someone whom has size 26inch zips
but you have to buy in sets of 3. I could possibly buy online which
might be cheaper per item but the postage would be expensive due to
the weight of the brass. I like the idea of having 10 or 20 zips in
stock....that this means if 10 then five tunics can be made that if
male you need two zips per uniform..(female uniforms if skirt is
required use one) for 10 zips this would be £35 approx $50 or if i
look to get 2o the prefer no to keep so many zips in stock as they
come in and out of fashion this would be £75 = to a $101 US dollars

The search continues ut this is at least hopeful. I am currently
comuicating with someone who wants a Bilar Crais outfit from Farscape
that profit from this maybe able to be reinvested in buying the
required number of zips!

At last! This is something I too have been waiting for one of the online
audio production groups to perhaps take a stab at. A long shot, I always
thought, but dreams can come true, it seems.

Having listened to the first part of Episode #1, I have to say I am
extremely impressed with the final production! Congratulations to Eric
Busby and his team for giving us a very professional script and cast of
voice actors coupled with a very high standard of post production.
Terrific use of music and sound effects! Really, Darker Projects has
made me a very happy Space:1999 fan indeed! I'm very excited about this
venture and I hope Eric and DP will continue what they have begun and
produce many more audios in the times to come.

Hurrah!

I immediately thought the same thing when I saw them too! If Space:1999
was being brought back for TV or a movie, revamped/re-imagined,
whatever, these Star Trek corridors look very, very much like Alpha's
would, without a doubt! Perhaps some enterprising (no pun intended) soul
could work out a deal with Paramount and use them for some Direct-to-DVD
(or Blu-ray) special or something? I know, I can dream, can't I...

Yesterday's auction of Gerry Anderson memorabilia proved to be a day of
surprises at the Battersea Arts Centre's chilly and atmospheric Grand
Ballrooom. After the interval break auctioneer and event organiser Tony
James revealed that Mystery Lot 242 was none other than Gerry
Anderson's signed photo and personal letter from Apollo 13 astronaut
James Lovell. Gerry Anderson, who was in attendance all day to sign
lots and pose for photos, then took to the stage to recount the story
behind his meeting with the spaceman in the 1970s.
But perhaps the biggest surprise was that no bids were forthcoming on
the day, with the unique item - a letter from a famous astronaut to a
famous sci-fi TV and film producer - going for just £600.
http://www.fanderson.org.uk/news/gerryandersonauctionresults.html
http://www.fanderson.org.uk/news/images3/Gerry_Anderson_Auction_High.jpg
The biggest hits with the bidders generally involved the toys and
models inspired by Anderson's series. Six pre-production models from
Product Enterprises's popular vehicles range sparked a mini-bidding war
in the first half of the auction, raising £1,040 in total. Aimed
squarely at the modern fan collector, these items exceeded
expectations, with a black and white pre-production model of Supercar
beating the lower limit of the guide price by £240 (sold £300).
A solid
silver Dinky FAB1 went for £2,000, while the original blueprint for
the
toy car went for £320.
http://www.fanderson.org.uk/news/images3/dinkysolidsilverFAB1.jpg
Nevertheless, the bitter weather and the credit crunch seemed to
make bidders more cautious than they might have been, and some lots
remained unsold despite their undeniable historical value. An original
1969 Journey to the Far Side of the Sun movie poster failed to raise
any hands, despite expectations that it would sell for
£400-£600, while
only a handful of Gerry Anderson's personal CGI shooting scripts for
New Captain Scarlet were sold. The biggest casualty however was Lot
207, the auction's 'jewel in the crown': the only example of an
original and signed cartoon by the visual efects supremo Derek Meddings.

A number of lots were withdrawn from the auction due to water
damage, while others went to overseas bidders. At the end 30 lucky
buyers were drawn to have their photos taken with Gerry Anderson,
bringing to a close an amazing day of 'one offs' and the breaking up of
a unique slice of TV history.

We hope to bring you a detailed runthrough of the auction as soon
Fanderson can confirm the sales figures. Watch this space!
Thanks to Fanderson.

2 things that REALLY caught my attention were 1- The sculpting/lighting
in the corridor walls 2- At some of the corridor intersections there
were these pedestal mounted things called "Comm Bx" or comm boxes. Both
of these looked very familiar to this Alphan.
This is almost exactly what I would have expected a 1999 remake to look
link. Maybe JJ Abrams is a bigger Sci-Fi fan than we think.

Yeeeaaahhh...They're borrowing (ripping off) Space's design sense
(wall panels, door shapes, commposts, etc...) and color scheme (beige).

I thought this was rather harsh.  especially the death commands along with
profanity.  (real discussion going on there)  Asimov was correct in talking
about the flawed Science of S99.
Also, the feud was over 30 years ago.
Get over it.  It's been dead a long long time.
There are other things to get angry over today.

Strange how they bashed S1999 on those days (with ASSimov being the
biggest shitter) and they ended coping everything, not only the 1st
film had a S1999 touch that was not present on the Jurassic Trek
series, and now this...

Uhhhhh ..... first off Asimov (one of the greatest science fiction
authors ever) was complaining about the lack of accurate science in
the show. And he was right. He praised many visual aspects of the
show. I really don't see a lot of copying here regardless. This
bizarre star trek/space 1999 feud is beyond childish. I can't be the
only one who see's the positive (and negative) aspects of both shows.

Yep, Asimov slated 1999 for being scientifically inaccurate - but
didn't the same Isaac Asimov have something to do with Fantastic
Voyage where people were miniaturized and injected into someone's body
in a submarine. Hmmm, right.

If I'd have written 'The Gods Themselves', I'd have kept my head down. ;-)
