Saw Norah on the Hardball election night program and was pretty
appalled at how she was "used" by MSNBC.
I notice Norah is from San Antonio and a Georgetown grad..in
philosophy...her husband in theology. This is, at least, nominally
speaking, a Catholic School, though, Lord knows what sort
of "theology" is being taught there.
Considering her background, having her reporting on how many women
governors may or may not be elected strikes me as a kind of abuse of
her abilities (manifestly obvious since no one majors in philosophy
who can't think and analyze things acutely). Limiting her to two-
dimensional, shallow "politically correct" subjects like that may be
a very negative thing for her carreer. If I were she, despite her
obvious liberal leanings and the fact that she may actually have some
sympathy for these PC causes (no one's perfect), I would resist being
moved in such a direction if at all possible.
I'd like to see MSNBC use Norah in a context where she actually can
show more than just her obvious beauty. I think she might do well in
some sort of interview format...a lot better than a mean-spirited air
head like Phil Donahue. She certainly needs as much of a chance as
Ashley Banfield. The fact that no such chance is forth coming is, I
believe, hurting her and may be preventing MSNBC from improving their
ratings.
My take.
