A correction for my other post I didn't find very many photos, I
only found two.
I'm sure as the show progresses I can find more.

I sure hope so  because in the the picture of the cast nanny stella
looks freaky, I mean she has a nice smile it would been nice if she
smiled.

Hi,
Would someone tell me what last weeks episodes were about ? I didn't
get to see it. My parents live in two different places and I only
get to watch what I want at my moms house and due to the holidays I
was at my dads house. my parents and I have some simular taste with
tv but mostly we don't agree.

I am Beth Schultz, and I"m a full-time nanny in Canton, MI.  I have
to say that I LOVE THIS SHOW!!!  I love the nannies all so much,
especially Nanny Deb.  She reminds me alot of myself.  Children need
to have boundaries, and consequences that go with them.

Hello! I just started watching the show, and caught the McCray
family. Those kids were monsters, yes, but I also thought they were
very cute. Does anyone know where I can get some pics of the
family????? And what did everyone else think of the mother???

I know the Rocks. Nanny Deb was (and is) a wonderful, warm, loving person. They portrayed her as stern and strong. It is too bad that her loving, playful side that led to the kids really trusting and respecting her wasn't portrayed on the show.

I believe it!! What people didn't look at is that fact that dylan sat
there on the steps with her eating fake food calmly. She continued to
eat wether he was looking or not...so it's not like she is the nanny
natzi everyone is making her out to be, she is just firm!! I loved
her!!

Strolled over from the nanny 911 boards. Mom of a 10 year old, nanny
of many years and now a home daycare provider. Loved the show, can't
wait for the next!!

Thanks for forming this discussion group!  While the show is
interesting in and of itself, we have a special connection with it.

We've known "Nanny Deb" for more than 20 years... we were only the
second family she ever worked for as a nanny, while we were living
in London.  Even at her young age then, she was remarkably gifted at
establishing a tremendous relationship with our 3 year old son, and
he truly adored her.  He still remembers in detail the toy store she
would take him to in Hampstead, and the trains they took to go to
his Montessori school each weekday morning there.

Her interest in and love for the children is genuine and deep...
she's kept in continual touch with us over these many years, in
spite of going on to become "Nanny to the Stars".  We visited her in
L.A. a few years back, and she has stayed in our home outside of
Chicago, like an old member of the family.  She sends birthday cards
to our son and his younger daughter every year, without fail.

Interestingly, she never showed herself to be the stern taskmaster
she was in this first episode... though she certainly had opinions,
even back then when she was barely 20 years old, about how children
should be treated and raised.  I wonder if taking care of the
children of movie stars taught her more about how to manage both the
children and the parents in some complex relationships.

Anyways, it's a total thrill seeing Deborah on TV, and seeing her
skillful ways of dealing with the family tonight.  And we look
forward to seeing her, and the other nannies, in the episodes to
come.

That is very exciting that you are studying early childhood
development.  I've completed 3 of 5  years of elementary education
which is actually mostly just comprised of psychology and business
courses (as I will also get a bachelor of arts with those minors).  I
can't wait till I begin the elementary ed. curiculum when I enter year
4.  I could use some actual education, instead of just experience!

I have been a nanny for 6 years, 2 live in, 4 live out.  I have
experience with special needs, autism, speech delays mostly, and with
multiples (twins) and large families (6 boys ages newborn-12). I'm
also working with my second family that is grieving the loss of the
mother. I have also run a friends in home family daycare (up to 10
kids) as well.

This job is something that no text book can prepare you for, and I'm
sure anyone who watched Nanny 911 will realize, the nanny needs to be
absolutely certain about what she is saying, the larger ROOT of the
problem or battle that she is choosing to overcome, and relate the BIG
issue to fix many of the little ones if she is going to truly be
beneficial to the family and work with them.  It takes guts, and time,
to really trust your nanny instincts, and find your sense of
confidence.     Once that happens, it really is amazing to see how you
can empower otherwise 'uninformed' parents on the benefits of
stability, rules, and consequences.  I can't WAIT till next week.

Being a nanny is about being a partner with the parents, to provide
the best care.   Its funny....  If you are on a TV show you can go in
with a KNOW IT ALL flair :) But in real life, it doesn't work that
way.   I have run into many parents, even my own aunt who would BALK
at anyones suggestions, or offers of help or personal experience.
After all, she's the mom, she knows whats best.     We all know though
that seeing a situation from an outside view is extremely helpful and
I'm sure all the families featured on Nanny 911 will benefit from
viewing it over and over.   In my experience, its been helpful to let
my employers know that what works for one family, may not work for
another..... that every child is different and needs to be handled
differently, and that if a consistent front on one method fails, it is
OK!

My trick??   Its called my invisable tool box.   I keep it beside me
like an imaginary carpet bag.  In it I keep everything any child,
parent, or family situation has taught me, and can 'whip out' these
tools to combat new challenges.  I can say to a parent "Hey, I once
saw a child do..... and the parent did.... what do you think?" and in
these hypothetical conversations can guide the parent (and learn more
about them) to find their comfort zone, before weighing in a heavy "If
you continue to ______, there will be no improvement.  You need to
____ and stick to it!  You can do this!"

Its tricky :) Boy am I going to love this show!!!

   Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Judie-Beth. I am 22. I
currently work as a Nanny. I have been working as a nanny for 5
years. I think the Nanny 911 show is great. I hope it brings a
greater awareness to parents. I think alot of families have the same
problems as the Rock family, they have no clue how to be parents so
they just "wing it".

I saw the show tonight and it was really good and agreed with how to
handle that situation. I am studying to get my Child Development
Associate and be a nanny or reopen my own ChildCare again. I didn't
think we could do that as a nanny and that would be overstepping the
boundries of being a nanny and what a nanny is really. I can't wait
to hear your input on this and learn more about being a nanny and
comparing it to the show!
