The show I was trying to recall was "Class Act" 1994.
Nadine played Australian ex-criminal Gloria O'Grady
Although it only ran for two series - a total of fourteen episodes -
"Class Act" is a hysterical comedy showcasing Britian's national
treasure, Ms. Joanna Lumley, at her finest.
For those that know her as Pasty from Ab Fab - you won't be
disappointed - as the character Kate Swift revels in her own
selfishness and vileness - readily hiding that heart of gold
underneath.
The supporting actors are wonderful and the relationships they build
with Kate quite intriguing - especially her antics with the
Detective Latham. The "will they"/"won't they" tension with
journalist Jack give the comedy-drama it's romantic edge, although
it is subtly played and sadly, never quite resolved.
All in all - if you are a Lumley fan or just looking for some
laughs, be sure to check this out!
Kate Swift has always know her place in the world. "I was a rich
bitch! I was good at it! I liked it!" Imagine her horror when both
her husband and all her ill-gotten cash vanish, leaving her to fend
for herself for the first time ever. Add in her mad old dad, Sir
Horrace Mainwaring (Richard Vernon), boozy journalist Jack (John
Bowe), Australian ex-criminal Gloria (Nadine Garner) and Detective
Inspector Latham, a sarcastic policeman (James Gaddas) and it's a
recipe for trouble!
