Was Melinda hotttttt tonight or WHAT!!!!! Now tell me she isn't better than Lakeesha!! Melinda should definately be the next American Idol. She is a world beyond all the other candidates!!!
agreed, backporchfan...perfectly agreed!!!!! Lakeesha is my second favourite too, but Melinda is just in a whole other league to all the other contestants!!
Oh yeah, she was AMAZING!!!!! She nails every song she tackles! I don't think there's a song that she couldn't pull off. Every performance is a masterpiece and Randy said it all - she could go into the studio and record an album right now. Lakisha is great and she's my second- favorite, but I don't think she doesn't have the same power and vocal control that Melinda has.

I thought Ruben was slightly overrated and should've lost to Clay Aiken. During the finals, Ruben's voice fizzled out big time while Clay's got even stronger. Maybe it was fatigued.
What I'm more interested in is to see who will break first between Lakisha and Melinda...it's like a diva duel every week. And I'll tell you one thing, I have feeling that Lakisha's mom and aunt in the end are going to turn people off with their exhuberant behavior. Even Lakisha said that 'I told them to behave" after she finished her performance.lol Hopefully both women will get a contract.

You have to admit that Melinda seems to be the best raw talent American Idol has ever seen. Randy was right! She really doesn't need American Idol - she could record a big selling record today! I beleive somewhere along the way, someone has convinced her she isn't worth of being in front - reocording - or being a star. She doesn't fit the current "Beyonce" style in terms of look. Record producers can be cruel - and go for the look instead of talent. That's why people like Jill Scott have such a difficult time getting their material
out.
Also, Melinda is a "church girl" and more specifically "Black church girl" by nature. In the Black church, you are encouraged to be excellent, but don't dwell in the adoration, attention, or acalades you may get for your talent. I understand why she seems so shy after she performs. She's afraid of breaking the "Black church cardinal rule" of being prideful. Nonehtless, I desire that she begins to OWN all of what God has gifted her with!

yeah, exactly. there are a few girls who could go. I'm liking the sound of that...three guys and nine girls. but of course they have to make it even, grrrr.
none of the male singers should make the top 12...ugh. it's all about the girls this year!!! I can't wait to see what Melinda will bring it with this week!!!
well, all we can do is hope America goes for talent instead of race, or marketability, or whatever.this is a singing competition, and Melinda, is truly the best singer, with Lakeesha coming closely behind. I liked Fantasia, but think Jennifer was defintely the best singer in season three...heck, Jennier is my favourite idol ever, even though she didn't win. I think Melinda will start to show more personality as she gets used to being in the spotlight.
I love Melinda and her great voice and hope for the best for her. But I don't think she's going to win if she doesn't show more personality on stage. The problem is will 'white' America vote for her to be the next American Idol or choose one of those other pretty lightskin mixed girls who are more marketable than Ms. Doolittle? None of the males have impressed me so far. Remember, American Idol is a tv show and it's not necessarily about who is the best singer. In that case, America wouldn't have voted off Jennifer Hudson and Latoya London in season 3 and picked Mantasia as the season 3 winner.

It makes me so mad that there are people skewing the results by
voting for the worst contestants. But I don't get why
votefortheworst.com is supporting Sundance, when the worst one is
clearly Sanjaya. Sundance has had some rough performances, but he
does have raw singing talent - he just needs to pick the right songs
to showcase it. Sanjaya has never impressed me in the least with his
whisper-singing and his tunelessness.

Well the producers are pumping him up and pushing him on the show b/c his father is singer Roy Head. That's probably the only reason. His initial audition was great..he was terrible in the Hollywood auditions and not good that 1st week he had to sing. He did much better last week, but like Simon said, he could do much better.

I can't wait for Wednesday!!!! Is anyone as fanatical about this show as I am? Hey - what male singers do you think should make the top 12?

well, all we can do is hope America goes for talent instead of race, or marketability, or whatever.this is a singing competition, and Melinda, is truly the best singer, with Lakeesha coming closely behind. I liked Fantasia, but think Jennifer was defintely the best singer in season three...heck, Jennier is
my favourite idol ever, even though she didn't win. I think Melinda will start to show more personality as she gets used to being in the spotlight.
I love Melinda and her great voice and hope for the best for her. But I don't think she's going to win if she doesn't
show more personality on stage. In that case, America wouldn't have voted off Jennifer Hudson and Latoya London in season 3 and picked Mantasia as the season 3 winner.

yes yes...agreed!! I love Lakeesha Jones, but Melinda's story is just so amazing...I odn't know how she could've been held back for so long. that girl can saaaang too well to just be a backup singer. and she's so humble...I can't wait to see her take it
all.
I predict that Melinda will be our next American Idol!!! She is light years beyond all of the other contenders. Including LaKiesha Jones. LaKiesha is good - but not as
good as Melinda!

She is so fabulous. This woman is a powerhouse. She has been held back
for too long...she is letting America know in voice, this is her time.
My question is...where has she been! Some how, some way America will
hear from her.
It is her time!
