Hey, all,

Just a note, it looks like we've only got four, maybe five days left of the TV Vote, at the most!

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote

We should hit the big 750K today sometime.  Check it out tomorrow.

Looks like B5 and Dark Shadows could use a few votes from their friends, if we've got a few to spare....

:-)

Heyya, Sharon!

Yup, we did it! We got our 750,000 votes banner!

About 3 days remain to vote, including today, so, looks like Wednesday
the Poll will be over.

Thanks very much for helping out our friends; Babylon 5 and Dark
Shadows are both very close to their goals; DS is actually in a
position to make one more pass, if they can sustain the pace, the last
one of the Poll.

Our friends the Barnabas Browncoats (DS voters) have made a HUGE
contribution to Firefly. Assuming a modest 30 votes per day (which is
just the numbers I know I can confirm), that's 900 votes per month,
which, since we started working together in September, comes easily to
around 10,000 votes. Without their help, we Browncoats wouldn't be
where we are.

I'll post final recap stats the day the Poll ends. Meanwhile, you can
see the daily updates at:

http://tinyurl.com/6a5ghk

Stay shiny!

It's over!

Ni howdy, Browncoats! A final Wave across the Cortex to recap the TV Vote Poll:

(Statistics in parentheses are previous day's stats, for comparison purposes)

http://richlabonte.net/tvvote

Rich Labonte's TV Vote Poll has ended, with a total of 8,367,753 votes cast in the Top 40 Poll, and 1,633,229 votes in the Nominations Poll, for a total of 10,000,982 votes cast. The site will be maintained as a shrine to Fan Power, and we Browncoats have shown that we excel in Fan Power, more than any other fandom! Banners for our Hall of Fame and 500k and 750k records may be viewed and downloaded at:

http://richlabonte.net/happy/hof.htm

Total votes Firefly: 755,646 (753,890)

Yesterday, Firefly received 1,756 (1,558) votes, 198 more than the previous day. Pretty gorram shiny, Browncoats, and a fine total for our last day of voting! Well done! Our reputation is SOLID!

Banners were not issued, today, but we qualified for one at 755,000 votes! Shiny as a Big Damn Sequel!

Let's review our accomplishments in TV Vote:

1. We've been the #1 show in the Poll since August 17th, 2007, when we passed Xena.

2. We achieved our ultimate goal, 750,000 votes on Saturday, August 9, 2008, triple the requisite number to achieve the Hall of Fame, an accomplishment uniquely our own.

3. Firefly achieved the record for most votes cast in a single day, 2,858, on Wednesday, August 6, 2008. Xena, Warrior Princess held the previous record, dating back to March 30, 2007: 2,803.

4. Firefly holds the record for consecutive days at 1,000+ daily votes, 75.

5. Firefly ended at 196,773 votes ahead of #2 show Xena, more than the total accumulated votes of #15 show La Femme Nikita 194,580. That is the highest lead of any show over it's nearest competitor (or any other show) in the Top 40 Poll!

6. Firefly's share of the Top 40 voting pie (percentage of total votes cast, which had peaked at 10%) remains at 9.03%. The next highest share belongs to Xena: Warrior Princess, at 6.68%.

7. Firefly has had the top daily score every day for 441 consecutive days, starting Sunday, April 29, 2007, until Moonlight finally broke our streak. Still, an incredible and unmatched accomplishment!

8. We've made many fast friends and numerous Browncoat conversions by our actions in the Poll, and left a lasting, positive impression among the other voting fandoms.

A big Browncoat xie-xie to all the Browncoats and our many friends in achieving all these shiny goals! Teamwork made us strong!

In other TV Vote news (shows whose voters have also supported Firefly and the Whedonverse)...

#5 show Battlestar Galactica got 710 (651) votes, yesterday, ending at 309,762, not receiving enough votes to pass #4 show Gunsmoke by the end of the Poll. They ended 238 (948) votes from getting a final banner, for 310,000 votes.

#6 show Buffy the Vampire Slayer got 932 (878) votes, yesterday, ending at 294,601, not receiving enough votes to pass #5 show BSG by the end of the Poll.

#9 show Angel got 952 (865) votes, yesterday, ending at 247,242, not receiving enough votes to pass #8 show Jericho by the end of the Poll.

#13 show Babylon 5 got an incredible 668 (615) votes, yesterday, ending at 201,319, not receiving enough votes to pass #12 show Little House on the Prairie by the end of the Poll.

Dark Shadows got 738 (738) votes, yesterday, ending at 151,075, and passing Star Trek: Voyager, which got 317 (316) votes. Dark Shadows is the new #22 show, today!

Dark Shadows achieved their final goal, today! Thanks for your help!

#34 show Blood Ties got 919 (828) votes, yesterday, ending at 129,439, not receiving enough votes to pass #33 show Star Trek: Deep Space Nine by the end of the Poll. They ended 561 votes from getting a final banner, for 130,000 votes.

Yours in the cause,

-Tallymister Raycheetah =^[.]^=

P.S.: I snerched this quote about us, 'cause I am never disappointed in my shiny Browncoat brothers and sisters when opportunity arises to prove it:

"Once again, the Browncoats have proven to be both an intelligent and generous group of people in a world where each quality sometimes seems to be in very short supply." - Chris Buchanan

Heads up, Browncoats!

I'm posting this on this group 'cause I know what big hearts y'all have, and that you'll either help if you can, or you'll spread word to someone who can help (please copy it to any groups, boards, or lists you think might be interested in helping).

A blizzard hit Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, in South Dakota, last Wednesday and Thursday and has knocked out the power to thousands. 10 and 20 foot drifts prevent many from leaving their homes, and food and firewood are running low. Some are reportedly burning their furniture to stay warm.

Blankets, warm clothing, food (as well as fuel, water, kerosene lamps and propane) are desperately needed. For anyone in the area who wants to help, go to the Porcupine School, or call 605-867-1111. Alternately, go to nativeprogess.org or http://nativeamericanrights.wordpress.com/. Send warm clothes to: Republic of Lakotah P.O. Box 99 Porcupine, SD 57772.

A week has already gone by; do something today, if you can! It could be three to seven days MORE before power is restored.

If anyone in the area can help with the situation on the reservation or make a donation, they can get in touch with Jeri Baker through the organization's website at nativeprogress.org or call John Dubray directly on the reservation at 605-441-5477.

Hi gang,

Ever wished you could go shopping in Eliza Dushku's closet?  Here's your chance!  She's using her latest spring cleaning fest to raise money for her favorite charity, and letting her fans take home a big stash of loot.
http://shop.ebay.com/fanporium-auctions/m.html

Clothes being auctioned include fancy red-carpet dresses, everyday-wear dresses, shirts, pants, skirts, shoes, scarves and jewelry.  Other items include screen-worn jackets from Angel and Dollhouse, crew jackets, signed swag, and more.  Plenty of variety for anyone to find a few must-haves.

I'd really appreciate it if y'all could help us spread the word about the auctions.  Get it posted to Whedonesque, forward it around to all your geeky friends (and the non-geeky ones too - her fandom is pretty broad based), post it on facebook, etc.  Eliza will be tweeting about it later today, too, so retweet the crap outta that!

Thanks for your help, and happy hunting!

--ray

PS: To all you basketball fans out there, our next project is to do a similar auction for Eliza's boyfriend, ex-Lakers star Rick Fox.  So stay tuned...

The father was in charge and near as the authorities can tell, he shook Liam and threw him against a wall.  Liam has severe brain damage, two broken legs and other injuries.

Say some prayers please.  For Liam's recovery and future, for Chloe to have strength.  For Jeff to stay in jail.

I admit to being rather bemused by this but I'm not looking a gift horse in the mouth...

The Science Channel will begin running Firefly on Sunday, March 6 with the pilot at 7 pm and then episode 1 at 9 pm. The regular time for the rest of the episodes will be at 9 pm on Sundays. Firefly will dominate the airwaves every Sunday with an encore episode of the previous week airing 9pm ET to be followed by the network premiere of the next episode in the series airing at 10pm ET.

Also, the star of Science Channel’s “Sci-Fi Science,” and the cofounder of string field theory, Dr. Michio Kaku, will be commentating on the science behind “Firefly” for each episode. From terraforming, to anti-matter, Kaku will be explaining why the science fiction featured in the show really isn’t that far from science fact.
