Hi,
Annigerria's idea about the Cherries is way shiney. The 2 for a
dollar must be donations only. Otherwise you need to get a special
event alcholic beverage license and other Alliance legal mumble jumbo.

The best way I have seen to do this is put the Cherries out for free, with a sign next to them that reads

"Free Cherries for anyone over 21 (ID required), if you enjoy them please leave a donation to allow us to continue this next year."

That way you are asking for Donations, and not charging for a food/booze item.

I may be hallucinating, but it seems to me we have someone to
tender/watch the Room on Saturday, but I'm a little fuzzy on Friday.

ShinyLibrarian is Saturday's room tender from 7:00-10:00P
I (that is Channain) will tender it from then until the door is shut
at 1:00AM. Sorry, Indys but this little con comm member has to sleep
some time.

I don't recall who Friday's Tender is. Part of my brain keeps saying
"Annigerria!!!" but considering she's probably tending The Morgue,
that's most likely wrong.

Or, maybe it was Knibblet who told me she'd be busy until then. Either
way, some responsible body needs to be there. If I wasn't running the
Art Show Reception downstairs, believe me, I would.

I (again, that's me, Channain) can tender the room again from 10:30P
until closing.

I'd appreciate any enlightenment! Specific to the room preferred, but
whatever enlightenment you have, I'll enjoy.

I thought someone was going to post a spreadsheet and have people call
out the hours they want...

Here are the hours I'm available - let me know when it works:

Friday: before 3:00pm, from 9:00pm till whenever.
Saturday: from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, from 10:00pm till whenever.
Sunday: from 3:00pm till whenever.

I was thinking of being a floating "tender - breaker - whatever" - also keeping an eye on The Morgue to make sure the Attendants eat and take an occassional break. Looking at the tentative schedule, there's nothing I'm rabid about seeing on Friday evening until around 10ish - so yeah - I can be a "Tender" from 7 to 10:30ish. I'll make sure I'm well-fed and pottied prior to assuming that mantle of responsibility.

Okay...I'm sad to say that I'm feeling very n00b-like. I went to the
MarsCon site and didn't see where to register or how much this is or
anything. Perhaps it's because I'm just very gorram tired from work. In
any case, it turns out I'm not closing this weekend. Everyone is
talking about this, it sounds like fun, and I was tossing around the
idea of showing up at least for a bitsy.

Bring whatever you'd like :) If you can afford to bring a bag of chips or a
bottle of soda for the common good, we'd appreciate it.

Whatever you like :) I'm heading out in 2 minutes to go to World Market and
pick up huge bags of chocolate coins. Those are always a good room treat.

Ben, what's my schedule for track wrangling? I need to know so that I can
keep track of our party room too.

HELP! Is it on-line somewhere?

Channain's Answer: I'm getting into the room as early as possible on
Friday, however I do have the Art Show to direct, so that will dictate
my hours in the Party Room.

Other than set up, during the day, the party room will be closed.

Not open during the day? Bah! That's disappointing. Then I won't
even get to see it. Argh.

Well, I do have a listing for Mario on Saturday from 1:00-4:00P. I
don't know what he had in mind - and he probably doesn't know what we
had in mind - but maybe something could be arranged there.

Knibblet and I didn't discuss having the room open during the day
because there's functions we're responsible for during the day, hence
the call for volunteers to sign up to tend the room - dong ma?

Great! (thanks Mario, good to see the room actually open during the
day) It might not be the best of timing since it looks like the
Firefly panel is 2 to 3 PM. Probably best to have the room open
*after* that so that anyone listening to the panel that wants more
information could be directed to visit the room.

If that's an offer to volunteer to tend the room, I accept!

:D kidding!

It's a common sense issue - We can't keep it open without someone there.

Well, Mario is in the room until 4pm...

I'll run up there after the panel and, if demand warrants, I'll stick around a
bit after 4 and
keep the room open. Please don't put me officially on the schedule though!!!!

BTW, it would be great to have a helper during my 7-10pm slot on Saturday as I
think there
is the potential for me to be swamped!
