I came across two Superman-related books:

1 - "Disguised as Clark Kent: Jews, Comics, and the Creation of the
Superhero" by Danny Fingeroth

2 - By the same author, foreward by Stan Lee: "Superman on the Couch"

Both have Supe cartoons on the covers:)

Actually, I read somewhere that Teri just has layringitus (sp?) and not the flu.
She has already filmed her scenes for that last week, so she can rest. ~Alexis

I read in the newspaper that Teri has H1N1, but that she's expected to make
a full recovery. It's taken her out of commission for now, though, and is
wrecking havoc w/Desperate Housewives filming. The important thing is that
she got a quick diagnosis and treatment, and I haven't heard anything about
  her daughter catching it.

Ovation cable channel will repeat an interesting documentary about the
Broadway play Annie on Tuesday August 25th. Harve Presnell from L&C appears
in it, twice - about 37 minutes into the show, and again about an hour and
16 minutes into it. It will air at 8pm & again at 11pm, EST.

I read in the newspaper that he died on June 30th of pancreatic cancer. He
was a Golden-Globe winner, he was 75, and he died in Santa Monica, CA.

The next TV Guide, July 13-26, has two Superman references toward the end:

1 - Crossword Puzzle, #4 Across, "John of Lois & Clark" (4 letters - "Shea")

2 - Page next to it, Horoscope. Josh Holloway is wearing a cool B&W "S"

ABC is airing the last 3 previously unseen episodes of the now-cancelled
"Pushing Daisies" on Saturday nights. While watching the first of these
episodes last Saturday, I was delighted at the many Superman/Clark Kent
references. A little at the beginning, then a lot in the last quarter of
the episode. The main character, Ned, kept wondering if it's good that he
has "super" powers, should he be more like Superman or Clark Kent,
questioning the status of his relationship w/the woman he can never touch,
etc. I'm happy whenever there's a Super reference:)
You can watch the episode, "Window Dressed To Kill", on abc.com

"Adventures of Superman" (1952)
	 http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0044231/trivia

It is now common knowledge that Clark Kent's Earth parents were
named Jonathan and Martha. However, in the first episode, "Superman
on Earth", Kent's parents were named Eben and Sarah. This is
because the comics themselves were inconsistent with the Kents'
given names until the characters became major players in "Superboy"
comics stories at about this same time. The names Sarah and Eben
were first used in the novel The Adventures of Superman (1942) and
	 in the first Superman serial.

Supe reference in TV Guide dated May 11th, puzzle #1043:

12 Across, "Superman's Earth Father", 4 letters. Answer is "Eben",
according to this week's issue. (I would've said "Kent", too easy, but the
letters just didn't match. I don't know which TV incarnation used "Eben".)

And in this week's TV Guide, May 18th, puzzle #1044:

Again 12 Across:)
"Superboy's birth mother on Krypton", again 4 letters. (I'd say "Lara", but
not sure if the other clues' letters fit in....)

how kewl it would be if Teri Hatcher ended up being a contestant some day!
Granted, it was a visit to the DH set, but it was still her! :)

I was glad to see some recent Superman references in non-Superman contexts:

- on a recent episode of "Heroes", disappointed Claire to bio father Nathan,
"you can fly, you're supposed to be Superman".

- and a movie theater Coca-Cola commercial features a heat monster. A
suited guy opens his shirt and you think he's wearing a super costume
underneath, but he doesn't get to expose his costume before the monster's
heat gets to him.

On last night's Daily Show, April 7th episode, there was a clip of "Superman
4" shown, about five minutes into the episode, when Jon Stewart is talking
about Obama's European tour. It's a funny joke, and actually one that had
already occurred to me when I heard Obama's European speech about nukes.

And you may want to just stay tuned in for The Colbert Report afterward, b/c
there's a funny take-off on Star Trek during the "Better Know A District"
skit about twelve minutes into the episode:)

I think that last night's episodes are repeated today from 10-11am, 2-3pm,
and 8-9pm. Then usually on the weekend (on Saturday, The Daily Show, 7-9am
the Monday-through-Thursday episodes; and on Sunday, Colbert, 7-9am the
Monday-through-Thursday episodes).

First there was beast. Then there was man. Somewhere in-between lies a
shadow world populated by mythological missing links. Creatures like
gorgons, witches and boogeymenwhom most of us dismiss as figments of our
imagination. But intrepid Chicago detectives Nick O'Malley (Michael Landes)
and Kate Benson (Alexondra Lee) know that these beings are real and deadly.
Working out of their secret headquarters behind Golden Eagle dry cleaners,
and geared-up with super-sophisticated weaponry and ultra-cool sports cars,
Nick, Kate and their crime-fighting team are all that stand between the
human world and the evil living among us. Well, okay, there's also a
thieving gnome who helps them out from time to time, but we figured you find
that out when you watch the show.
