A few questions on episode "Turnstile Justice"   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #117 of 189 |
You still there? Some of you were a great help last May when I
contacted you after searching Google for "Law&Order" websites. More
than one year later, I am back translating Law & Order into Italian
and again I came across an acronym I can't understand. This is an
episode called "Turnstile Justice", and there's Van Buren saying:
"There was an E.D.P. in the vicinity, maybe there was a complaint".
You got any idea what an EDP is?

Also, do you know what's an S.R.O.? Could it be some kind of homeless
shelter? An officer mentions a suspect and he says: "We tried to take
him to a shelter but he refused. Manager of an S.R.O. on 8th avenue
owes me a favor, took him over there".

Then there's a couple of sentences I just don't understand... Talking
about the same suspect, the officer goes: "He took a leak on the
platform, female passenger took exception".
Green asks: "No collar?"
Officer: "Would'a just been a summons".

Does "No Collar?" mean "You didn't arrest him?" Or what?
And does the summons thing man that behaviour would just have called
for a ticket or something similar?

The whole episode deals with the problem of HMOs. I checked it out on
Google and it seems to be a big issue in the States... Are they so
widely diffused now in the US?

Finally (for now), there's a line of Carmichael saying "Court
remanded him at his assignment for a seven thirty exam". What kind of
exam would that be?

Thank you!

Alberto
