For "punk vampire" thrills, "Lost Boys" is hard to beat. I seem to
recall that at the time, Kiefer was in a relationship with Julia
Roberts, starring with her in "Flatliners". Kiefer was considered
the bigger "name" of the two, since I don't think she had
made "Pretty Woman" at that point. Looking back, Kiefer has almost
had two separate careers and done a fine job in both. Has anyone
ihn the group ever seen "The Vanishing" and if so, is it a movie
that would rate more than one watching? It's in the discount bin at
the local Wal-Mart, but knowing a little about the plot, I've shied
away from buying it. Any thoughts?

Hehe, that would be me :) I tried posting sometime last week and the computer ate my post, hate when that happens. As I was telling Deb, I think it's most definitely a jealousy thing. There are so many actresses that people start ripping into in regards to either their character on a show or the actress for one simple fact, jealousy. I think the whole jealousy thing comes into play more with Kim Raver the actress and not the character of Audrey. What I don't understand is how people can rip into the character of Audrey when the poor thing has been through so much. Season 4 through sooo much at her, any woman in her position would have felt overwhelmed and said they just couldn't handle any sort of relationship at the moment.
How sweet of Kim to speak with your friend in French. That's something she didn't have to do and reached out and made, I'm sure, a big impression on your friend. Something like that you don't forget.
I can't wait to see what Kim Baur is going to add to the mix of this season. Her character has always annoyed me for various reasons however I can't go into them now because 24 is coming on!!!
It's funny that you mention the "jealousy" factor. Me and a friend of mine was watching season 4 episodes last night and we were pondering why Audrey is so hated. She said the same thing, jealousy.
It's really hard for me because I turned 24 on just to see Kim Raver. Now, I'm definitely addicted to the show as a whole, but she was the main reason I tuned in. I've been a fan of hers for a long time, and it's hard for me to see people criticize her, her looks, etc. I met the woman one time and she was so kind and sweet, signing autographs and posing for pics. She realized that a friend of mine from Montreal was there and struggling with her English, so she spoke totally in French with her. My friend has never, ever forgotten that. People can criticize the writing all they want, but do they have to be so nasty to the actress?
Audrey had a horrible, horrible traumatic experience, in a world that she was totally unused to living in and witnessing. Was I happy that she broke it off with Jack? Of course not, but given a little time to rest and really think things through, Audrey would have realized what she sees now.... She made a mistake. She loved Jack. Not his job, or what his job forces him to do. But Jack. They just didn't have that opportunity because Jack "died".
But Jack loves her, faults and all. She really made him happy, you could see that at the beginning of season 4. Jack actually smiled! Well... Grinned. LOL When was the last time we saw that? LOL
As for Kim Bauer, I didn't understand people's dislike for her either because I started with season 4. Then I went to season 1. And yeah..... I'm not a big fan of the character. She's annoyingly clueless. She whined throughout season 1 and 2 about what happened to her mother. She seems to forget that her sneaking out that night was what started it all. Sure, the baddies would have found another way to get Kim and Teri, but Kim had to bear some responsibility for that night. How many people has Kim left in her wake? Her friend Janet and Janet's father in season 1, Miguel lost a leg for her in season 2, I haven't seen all of season 3 yet but I'm sure something more will happen.
It'll be interesting to see Kim's return tonight. It seems she and Audrey at least know each other. Did they meet before the events of season 4, at Jack's funeral? How is she going to handle this person that Jack says brought him back to life after Teri's death? And from the spoilers... It doesn't exactly sound like Kim is doing too well...
HA! So THAT'S whose baby that is. LOL I just got to the part in season 3 where Chloe told Chapelle the baby was hers. I was like "Well, if it's hers, where the heck is the baby now?" LOL
I don't think it's got anything to do with the charcter itself. I think it has more to do with Elisha Cuthbert's acting abilities, or lack thereof. She can't do much, frankly. And I note with interest that Chase will not be back - I guess that hand amputation got to him. And isn't Chase's baby still under Chloe's desk? Bet it is ...

Monday, February 13, 2006 WITH THE RETURN OF ELISHA CUTHBERT AND WILLIAM DEVANE AND THE ADDITION OF RAY WISE AND C. THOMAS HOWELL
Two-Hour Event Airs Monday, March 6, on FOX
Through seven sizzling hours of 24's fifth season, the series continues its amazing ratings performance and casting coups. Season five is outpacing last year's performance by +19% among Adults 18-49, +20% among Adults 18-34 and +16% in Total Viewers. Elisha Cuthbert and William Devane return, joined by newcomers C. Thomas Howell ("The Outsiders") and Ray Wise ("Good Night, And Good Luck") as "Day Five" intensifies. The nonstop season continues Mondays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and will clock in with a special two-hour event Monday, March 6 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX.
In a day where he was implicated in the President's assassination, held hostage at the airport, and is following leads to terrorists armed with 20 canisters of military-grade nerve gas, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) has had little time to put the pieces of his personal life back together. Recently reunited with former lover Audrey Raines (Kim Raver), Bauer enlists her help to reestablish communication with his daughter, Kim (Cuthbert). When Kim reenters Jack's life, she does so with her trusted friend Barry Landes (Howell), a therapist who attempts to simmer down a boiling situation. Meanwhile, leadership issues continue to tangle the Administration, and Vice President Hal Gardner (Wise) and Secretary of Defense James Heller (Devane) join the cause against the terrifying situation.
The nonstop season accelerates with a special two-hour event, "Day 5: 5:00 PM-6:00 PM"/"Day 5: 6:00 PM-7:00 PM," airing Monday, March 6 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Agent Bauer deals with Christopher Henderson (Peter Weller), the defected federal agent who recruited Jack to counterterrorist work more than a decade ago, along with his wife Miriam (JoBeth Williams). The back-to-back episodes also feature President Logan (Gregory Itzin) muddling through more intense and iffy decisions while CTU commanders Lynn McGill (Sean Astin) and Bill Buchanan (James Morrison) redefine roles.
24, created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, is a production of Real Time Productions and Imagine Television in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Joel Surnow, Robert Cochran, Howard Gordon, Evan Katz and Brian Grazer are the executive producers. Kiefer Sutherland is a co-executive producer.
I know a lot of people in other groups have a great dislike for Kim.

Chloe, while Kim is seen as just getting in the way of the plot. I
certainly didn't feel that way about Kim's character in Season 3, as

From USAToday:
It's official. The magnet for mishaps is returning to 24 (tonight, 9 ET/PT).
Though actress Elisha Cuthbert took a season off to star in big-screen flicks (House of Wax, The Girl Next Door), her character, Kim, will be back to complicate matters for her dad, Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland). In past seasons she has been tormented by, among other terrors, a wild cougar and a weapon-wielding weirdo in an underground bunker.
24 producers are finding plenty of familiar faces for upcoming roles, both recurring and new:
William Devane. Reprises his role as Defense Secretary James Heller and dad of Jack's ex, Audrey Raines (Kim Raver).
C. Thomas Howell. In the '80s, he was Ponyboy in The Outsiders and starred as a white guy posing black in Soul Man. Now he's Kim's friend whose training as a therapist comes in handy at CTU.
•Ray Wise. Now seen on the big screen in GoodNight, and Good Luck, he'll portray the vice president.
•Julian Sands. The British actor shows up as billionaire villain Vladimir Bierko.
Peter Weller. RoboCop himself is a now-defected counterterrorism agent married to JoBeth Williams, most remembered for her uptight housewife in The Big Chill.
I absolutely adore your fanfic. I wait anxiously for new chapters. LOL There is so little Jack/Audrey fanfic out there so it's nice to see that you've continued this tale.
Welcome to the group, and keep writing! I hope you post often! =)
I so agree with this! Audrey has had a lot of time to think about everything, and losing Jack seemed to change her views on everything. She really has grown, and understands what needs to be done.
I wonder exactly how the Chinese are going to fit into all of this. Technically, Jack was following orders of President Palmer's. Couldn't they simply say that now, since Palmer wasn't President at the time? Also with Palmer now dead, it would let Jack off the hook. Of course, nothing is this simple with the show.
I was rewatching the *reunion* scene between Jack and Audrey. Two things stand out to me. One was Jack apologizing for lying to her. Lying to her about what? About his "death"? Or was there something that I missed along the way. Also, after Audrey apologized and told Jack that she didn't blame him, she said that there was so much that she needed to tell him. What else could there be? Any speculations? I also cant wait to see what type of relationship Kim and Audrey have.
I just hope that they keep writing Audrey this way. I can't stand reading on some of the other lists where people are always ripping the character. Aside from Jack, she's my favorite on the show. I'm so glad that they brought Kim back this season.
Hey guys I'm new here. Jack and Audrey are the best so I wrote a fic
about them. It takes place during the season 5 prequel when Jack is
hiding out Chicago. Audrey is visting family for Christmas and finds
Jack unconscious on the street. Things go from there. Let me know what
you think. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/2723897/1/
Wow, Kim was on Martha a lot today. First, Martha gave the audience a tour of the backstage are of her show, which included knocking on Kim's dressing room door and barging in with a camera. Kim was really excited to be there, but seemed a bit nervous and shy at the same time. I was glad to see this in a way. A group of friends and I had met Kim several years ago in NY when she was filming Third Watch. She does seem to have a bit of a shy, yet mischevious streak in her, and this totally came out on "Martha" today. It was nice to see that her personality doesn't change from one place to the next.
After the commercial break, Martha came back out on stage with Kim, and they sat and talked. Kim talked about growing up in a "hippy house" in the Hamptons, and it was embarrassing to her as a child when kids would go "Are YOU the one that has the house with the tire swing?" Kim said their home there didn't even have running water. But her mother has since redone the entire house, and it's now a beautiful, old, farmhouse type of home and she loves spending time there.
Kim said she and her husband have bought a house in California now, and it needs to be decorated but she doesn't know where to start. Martha tried to give her some pointers but I really think decorating is really out of Kim's league. LOL She mentioned that she can't even take care of a plant. Her husband laughs at her and tells her to stay away from any kind of plant that they get. Martha mentioned a writer for I think the NY Times whose name is Ann Raver and she writes horticulture articles and Martha loves reading her writings. Kim laughed and said "That's my Aunt!" Her Aunt does that for a living, her mother used to be in marketing and is now an interior designer, and Kim is totally clueless in both fields.
They talked about her filming "Night at the Museum". It was originally reported that she would be filming this when 24 was on hiatus, that wasn't true. She has been working on both projects at the same time. She just finished shooting the movie, but had to leave NY today to get back to LA and be onset for "24" first thing in the morning. She loved doing the movie, saying that she was just laughing the entire time between Ben Stiller and Robin Williams. She kept cracking up just mentioning how many times she was hysterical laughing.
She mentioned Kiefer, and what a wonderful, kind, funny gentlemen he is. Kim said Martha's show was right up Kiefer's alley because he loves to sit down and have a cup of tea to relax. Kim said he's wonderful to work with and talked about how lucky she is to get to work with him so often.
From there they showed a clip of this Monday's episode of "24". I'll put the spoiler at the end of this in case anyone wants to know what it was.
From there, they moved into the mock kitchen, yet another place where Kim said she's not an expert. LOL Kim talked about always wanting to come home from the studio and cook for her son (he's 3 1/2) because she doesn't want him to have to eat take out and junk all the time. Plus, her husband is French, and apparantely a good cook, and he keeps telling her that she needs lessons. LOL They made pork chops marinated in blood orange juice, green beans and baby spinach. Martha was all by the book of course but Kim was funny. Between cutting diamond shapes into the pork chops, grunting and growling while trying to shove the pork chops into a dish, and eating the food with her fingers, I don't think Martha knew what to do. LOL
All in all, it was a really good, cute interview. Kim seemed to relax more and more as they got into it. She even had the audience cracking up at her when she was sneaking back and forth behind Martha.
And now, the spoiler space...
S P A C E
The scene they showed was at CTU. Lynn, Audrey and Bill were the main people in the conference room. Jack is on his phone telling them that he wants to go undercover and deliver the chip needed by the terrorists. Lynn is telling him to do it, and Audrey is yelling at Lynn that Jack can't do it because they terrorists already saw him at the airport. He should just arrest the people he has now (can't remember their names) and make them tell him where the nerve gas is. Lynn is arguing with her and she's standing, bent over the table yelling towards him. She realizes she's not getting anywhere with Lynn and then turns to Bill for his input. They cut the scene off there.

Good points! I think Audrey was able to take the
torture/interrogation a bit better this time because a) she didn't
know this man; b) she heard but didn't see it; and c) she understood
how vital it was to get intell from this guy who knew things, as
opposed to Paul, who really was in the dark. I think she has grown
over the previous 18 months. Still, with the Chinese government
rumored to be re-introduced to the storyline, it's not clear what
will be waiitng for her and Jack after this "day" is over.
Plus, the robbery of Lynn may be setting up an "invasion" of CTU
by terrorists, putting Audrey and perhaps Kim in danger. I hope
not, but the robbery didn't happen for no reason whatsoever. It
would appear that Audrey and Kim have some sort of relationship.

Another great episode last night! Although, we didn't get a lot of
Jack & Audrey interaction, I think we saw a couple of significant
scenes.
The first being Jack trusting Audrey to call Kim and bring her to
CTU.Audrey sort of spoke as though she knows Kim, so I'm assuming
they met at Jack's funeral? Did Kim know the nature of their
relationship before? It will be interesting to see how Kim has
changed since the last time we saw her. (If she's changed at all)
I think the most important was the scene where Jack was torturing
the sleazy old man while the members of CTU listened to the
interrogation. Audrey had a problem with the violence before
Jack's "death", but she stood firm and never flinched through the
entire torture/interrogation. This again lends credence to the fact
that last season, had Audrey been given time to rest and think, she
would have come to her senses and made ammends with Jack. She still
loved Jack, that she made perfectly clear, but she just couldnt
handle his "life" at CTU. Now, it looks as though Audrey is firmly
ensconsed in that life and able to understand and accept the things
that must be done.
It looks as though she'd done a lot of growing in the 18 months
since Jack last saw her. I can't wait until they get another private
moment together! =)
Kim will be appearing on "Martha" on 2/9. I'm not sure if this is
syndicated or not, but for me in the Philadelphia area it's on 2/9 at
12PM. Check your local listings!
Description: "Actress Kim Raver makes angel food cake with Martha."
One thing I love about Kiefer in this role, is the two sides of Jack
that he displays so openly. One moment, Jack is Mr. Tough Guy,
running around spitting out orders, fighting, and shooting. The very
next moment he's tenderly talking to someone he loves in the low,
almost whisper way that he has about him. Sometimes it really is
easy to believe that Jack Bauer is two different people.
You make very valid points kjj. Jack is a man who wants to be happy,
to live his life with a family and a women who he loves and returns
that love to him in full force. But, he also has an undeniable sense
of duty to his country.
He'd already opened his heart and soul to Audrey. She knew about
everything, his heroine addiction, being fired from CTU, what
happened to Terri, all of it. She had just never been faced with the
ramifications of what all of it meant, until that day. With the
first hour of season 4, we learned so many things about their
relationship. Not only had they fallen in love with each other, but
when Jack whispered to her about how he wants nothing more than to
feel happy, content, and to feel a "connection" to another person,
and how it means so much to him. He hadn't felt it since Terri was
alive. That spoke volumes to me that this was the woman who was
filling that void in Jack's life.
Audrey went through absolute and pure hell that day. She had a soon
to be ex-husband, who wasn't really all that bad of a guy, just a
bit of a pompous jerk, who was pressuring her to reunite with him.
Her father and brother were at each other's throats. Then she and
her father are kidnapped and held hostage. How many times did they
drag her away from him and prepare to kill her right on the spot?
Yikes.I would have been a pile of gellatin by the time I was
rescued.
And then tack on the rest of the day. Audrey's mind was in a million
places at once. Everyone goes through a "straw that broke the
camel's back" moment, and the way Paul died was Audrey's. Anyone's
natural defense would be to blame the person there. Unfortunately,
that was Jack. If they'd had more time, a day or two to be able to
rest and regroup a bit, Audrey would have come around and seen that
Jack did nothing but what he HAD to do.
Unfortunately, to end an already horrible, emotionally draining,
miserable 24 hours, Jack "died" and she never got that chance to
regroup her thoughts and emotions.
Now, they have that chance again. It killed me when Audrey and Jack
first got to speak, and her instinct was to reach out and touch him.
There's no way these two are done yet. I can't wait to see what else
is in store!

As a character (wonderfully portrayed by Kiefer) we see a man who
has two sides -- one a kind and gentle person, who attracted both
Audrey and Diane with his rugged good looks, but also his charming
manner. I think a part of Jack would never even want to watch a
violent TV show again, let alone pick up a gun or harm someone
else. That's one side of Jack, kind and loving.
The other side is a man who submerges all that kindness to
accomplish his job. He will shoot and yes torture poeple to get the
information he needs to save the nation. It hurts him inside to do
this, but he does not let his personal feelings stop him from doing
what must be done. Audrey saw both sides of Jack last season and at
the time seemed unable to deal with what she saw. Now, 18 months
later, she has a second chance.
Diane has really only seen the kind side of Jack. Her son may be
able to fill in some of what Jack did in the airport, but that was
heroic in helping in his rescue. How she will deal with the other
side of Jack, if she sees it, remains to be seen.
Neither may be able to take the strain as the rest of this "day"
unfolds, to say nothing of the seasons ahead. Jack is not a
character who gets to much "happiness" in his life. I'm rooting for
Audrey.
KJJ
I agree completely. I think Audrey is still reeling from that fact that he's alive. Just walking back into CTU after 18 months was emotional enough for her. I think she's been reeling ever since she saw Jack on that security video.
And then, of course, she finds out about Diane. In her mind she probably thought that she totally threw any chance for a relationship out the window before Jack was *killed*. And then she finds out he moved on with someone else, and it hit her like a ton of bricks.
It probably would have been easier if Diane was someone you could dislike. LOL But she wasn't, she was honest with Audrey up front. Audrey's conversation with Jack in the hallway last week said a ton to me. The way she apologized, and swore to him that she didn't blame him for everything that happened. When she tried to reach out to touch Jack but pulled away, it spoke volumes to her confusion and feelings.
Audrey believed her chance with Jack was completely gone. So, when Diane went up and confronted her out of nowhere it put Audrey completely on the spot. Her first instinct was to be evasive. But hearing that Jack still loved her seemed to open a floodgate.
She wants to be with Jack, but she knows that she can't be if he has to disappear again. I think she was about to admit that she still loved him on the phone when he told her that he had to go. That wasn't the right time or place to have a conversation of that magnitude, so it will have to wait for another time.
::sigh:: And I'm waiting on the edge of my seat to see what happens the next time they get to talk privately! LOL

I was hoping Audrey would have done more to express her feelings
about Jack to Diane instead of being evasive, because Diane was
honest enought to tell Audrey she cared for him and would want him
back. Diane was ready to stand up and acknowledge how she felt.
Audrey almost told Jack how she felt on the phone. Maybe Jack would
be more forthcoming if Audrey could get him alone in person. She
knows he's busy and has lots more on his mind when she called. I
don't think Jack will be walking away into the sunset again. More
will happen that will allow him to stay I think.

I think that Jack was so kind, and honest to both women. He made no
bones about the fact that he's still in love with Audrey when Diane
questioned him. And Audrey can try to play tough all she wants, she
definitely still has feelings for Jack, as much as she's trying to
push them down from the surface.
It worried me that Audrey almost tearfully asked Jack to "not go
away again" and later he told President Logan that once the whole
mess is over, he's disappear, no questions asked.
I can't wait to see how all of this plays out!
Kiefer will be on Late Show with David Letterman on January 31st. It
is a repeat.
On Saturday, February 2nd, he will be appearing on The Late Late Show
With Craig Ferguson. This appears to be a new interview. =)
Yay!
I'll put a spoiler space just in case:

McCain has a role in '24' — but just for a 'blink'
Viewers will be able to spot a real government figure on the Feb. 6
episode of 24 (Fox, 9 p.m. ET/PT). Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., a fan,
was visiting the set in the fall when producers asked if he was
interested in doing "a little Alfred Hitchcock star turn," executive
producer Howard Gordon says. "We had a scene in which Audrey Raines
(Kim Raver) needs to get a file folder from someone, and Sen. McCain
delivered it."
McCain's non-speaking cameo as an unidentified bureaucrat is so
brief it seems like a "Where's Waldo?" moment, Gordon says. "If you
blink, you'll miss it."
Before the scene, producers talked politics with McCain. "He was
more interested in talking about scenes from 24," Gordon says. "He
was able to cite chapter and verse from the seasons."
Ohhh, I hope they don't plan on killing her either. I loved the dynamic between the two of them in Season 4. Even during their worst moments I was cheering for them.
Audrey has had a lot of time to think about what happened. She now knows what her life without him is like. And since she apparently now has an office at CTU, it seems to me like she's a permanent fixture there.
Hopefully, they'll continue to work out the mess that was Season 4 and work their way back together. I think she's good for Jack, but she needs to be able to accept his responsibilities and be with him just for him accept Jack for who he is.
If this was an average TV show, where characters have years to
stumble around before discovreing they love each other, I'd say "Yes",
Jack and Audrey have a chance at happiness. This being "24", I'm not
sure their odds are at all good. Jack is never going to have
a "normal" life and unless Audrey's character is going to become a
permenant member of CTU in LA, they will likely drift apart. I
certainly hope they don't plan on killing her.

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only Jack/Audrey shipper out
there, I was getting frightened.
So what do you guys think? Do they have a chance to get back what
they had at the beginning of season 4? Audrey seems to have come to
terms with Jack's role at CTU, can they make it work?
