Actually I just wanted to listen on 220, but now that I look at the
specs I see you are correct. It doesn't transmit, or listen, on 220.
Bummer, my old 2720 did that just fine.
Thanks for the response.

Hi,
I'm trying to setup my radio for an odd split repeater pair and can't
seem to figure out how to do it from the software. I want to go in on
440 and go out on 220? I tried making the offset 200 mhz, but 20mhz was
max.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,

I would recommend ICOM to repair the ID800. They have repaired my unit, and I feel their price is fair, and the service has been very good.

I'm having trouble using my Icom ID-800H data socket after a recent shack move. Previously, I was using the connection with the dchat software successfully, but now it doesn't seem to be working. I've checked and double checked the settings of both the serial port and the radio itself, nothing seems amiss.
Is there a way to test external devices like this? And if it needs a repair can someone recommend a good service shop for this rig? It's out of warranty...so fast service and professional results would be the main goal.

Howdy Les:
Make sure that you have GPS function turned off (in case you accidently
turned it on). Can't have data and GPS function both turned on at the same
time. Even if you don't have a GPS, I would go into the menu to make sure
that it's off.

Had a QSO with K1DO 9 on K2DIG when I was on business in NYC in late November- he told me that the gateway was down at that time, and it was apparent from the lack of callsigns on the jfindu site. It appears it's fixed now since jfindu is listing activity, including K1DO.

Hey Steve,
Also sorry we could not connect. I have to wait until there is a
gateway close to me so I can register.
Regarding the memories, I would have thought ICOM would have come out
with a newer version of the memory software allowing for more than 54
memories. Maybe a future software writer, not me as I am not one, can
set it so you only put in the call sign and can check A B C G next to
the call so you only occupy one slot. Not sure that is possible though.
Anyways as I said this is a good problem and thanks for the heads up.
I will keep that in mind for future programming.
As for K2DIG it was off the air due to problems for a while. NOw it is
back. There is a small following in the City but with a wider coverage
and such perhaps some of them will use it more. I do not know Gateway
status on the new machine.

Hi Dan, Sorry we could not make contact on the air the other day.
Message 1132 I believe in dstar_digital outlines using UR memories to
store repeater calls. You have to manually place the / in front of the
repeater call. In the 54 (I thought there were 100 repeater calls at
the time) repeater calls, the cloning software does this for you.
automatically. You can effectively have 154 memories with repeater
calls by programming repeaters both in the 100 URs and 54 repeaters. I
am working on a new file that shows activity on the different gateways
so that I can omit those with no or little activity from my radios to
make room for ones with more activity. I have made many call thru K2DIG
and finally given up - never had a single call answered. I will try
again. Merry Christmas, Steve NU5D

PLUS: Lots of new DStar machines coming on line and listed at
DStarusers.org
PLUS: I use quite a few when I travel from DC to New England. The
K2DIG on the Empire State Building is back and phenomenal. I held it
from NJ on the Turnpike through to almost New Haven, CT on 70cm DV
just before Xmas.
Minus: I only have room for 54 repeaters. So that means if WA1BCD has
both 2m and 70cm that is 2 slots, toss in the Gateway "G" that is a
slot. So one machine takes up 3 slots in theory. Is there any plans or
current way to add more than 54 repeater call signs to the repeater
call sign screen on the programming software?
This is one of those really good problems to have and not a complaint.
Just seeing what the future brings.

Hello, I have an ID-800H that I programmed successfully using ICOM's software for several D-Star and analog systems. Now I need to add some D-Star repeaters manually, and I'll be darned if I can figure out how to do that manually even though I am trying to follow the process outlined in the user manual. Is there anyone who can help me out with step by step programming instructions via the front panel of the radio?

No matter which radio you get, make sure you get the programming
software and cable. It will make understanding and setting up the
DStar parameters much more enjoyable!

Hi John,
That is why I am the proud owner of an ID800 instead of a 2820. If
you get the 2820 with DStar installed, you should not have to install
the UT123 codec board. You certainly wont have to install the CODEC
board in the ID800.

Hi Mark.... I was talking about the UT123 digital module for the 2820...... Boy though, when I look at the price...almost a grand.... maybe the 800 is the way to go ... even with the limited features........ since I already have a 2720....
Thanks for the quick reply Mark..... I will have to look closer on the features.... Is the option module/cca easy to install?

I think you mean 2820. The decision really rests on features. The 2820 has more features/memory than the ID800. The 2820 is a 2 receiver dual band radio, while the ID800 is a single receiver dual band radio. The performance of the two radios is nearly equal, but the 2820 has diversity reception capability that the ID800 doesn't have.

Seems like there are 3 different firm ware versions. The original had
very few memories. The next increased memory capacity without BCL, and
the current has BCL. I suspect the beep is coming from a too sensitive
vswr detector in the radio - try a different antenna, or different part
of the band. Even a change in coaxial cable length may remedy the
beeping. steve nu5d
