GLYNIS BARBER -
Glynis Barber is a guest on C4's Paul O'Grady Show - Mon 7th May 2007 - 5-6pm.
Popular tea-time entertainment show with a mix of big name celebrity guests and
members of the great British public. Comedian Justin Lee Collins stands in for
Paul O'Grady, while today's guests include Glynis Barber, Christopher Biggins
and The Wurzels. Glynis will be talking about her role as DCI Grace Barraclough
in Emmerdale. in which her character is leading the hunt for Tom King's killer.

Glynis is also advertised as a guest on a new quiz show hosted by Les Dennis on
UKTV Gold on Thursday nights at various times between 9pm and 10.40pm!!
(repeated late Sunday nights around 11.50pm). It's a quiz about TV shows from
the past and the UKGold highlights information says that Glynis will be a
special guest in an episode of the show. Unfortunately the TV guides for
UKTVGold are very confusing, with one part of the site saying she'll be on the
show Thursday 17th May and another saying Thursday 24th May. Suggest you
record/watch the one on 17th May and if she's not on that one, watch/record the
following episode on the 24th!!!

Glynis has been featured in several magazines over the past months, including TV
Times Magazine (week ending 30 March 07), Woman's Own (12 February 2007). Her
episode of the TV series 'Sandbaggers' - In Hell with Justice - has recently
been released in a DVD box set of the third series, and a DVD of her film 'The
Fairy King of Ar' was given away in a free promotion by the Daily Mail newspaper
in March. (Thanks to Jan Green who runs the unofficial Michael Brandon Society
website for this information - the site has a section on Glynis
http://michaelbrandonsociety.bravehost.com/index.html.) Glynis's own
official website is at http://www.glynisbarber.com/

PAUL DARROW
Paul is one of the guests interviewed for 'A Perfect Night In', a new C4 series
featuring some of comedy's favourite A-list stars as they choose their perfect
night of TV, hosted by Mat Lucas and David Walliams. Broadcast date TBC
(possibly 20 May.) You can hear Paul doing the voiceover before and after each
ad break for the brilliant new Sci-Fi Channel show 'Heroes' reading their
sponsor ad.

JACQUELINE PEARCE - last chance to book for Farewell Event, or order
personalized signed items

In our last bulletin we reported on Jacqueline's imminent departure from these
shores for her new life in Africa, where she will be living at a sanctuary for
orphaned vervet monkeys. There is a thread on the Horizon website forum where
you can post your good luck and Bon Voyage messages which will be passed on to
Jacqueline before she leaves.

She will be leaving for Africa in less than 2 weeks, but you still have two
chances to meet her (if you've not yet done so) or to say goodbye if you have.

This Saturday, 10th March from 3-5pm, Jacqueline will be signing at the VOGA
Shop in Edinburgh. 22, Leven Street, Edinburgh EH3 9LJ Tel: 0131 228 8844

Horizon is trying to organize a final opportunity to meet Jacqueline, and wish
her Bon Voyage on Saturday, 17th March from 3-5pm, in the London area. This will
be a pre-booked event only (the venue is still TBA and will depend on the level
of interest). We did ask anyone interested in attending to let Diane know by
return as there is very little time to organize this and we would need a minimum
number to make it a viable event. We know this hasn't given you much time to
re-organise your schedules, but anyone else interested in attending MUST contact
Diane by the end of the weekend, or we won't be able to go ahead. There will
be a small entrance fee of £10 and there will be photos available to buy which
you can get Jacqueline to sign, and there will be an opportunity to chat to her
during the afternoon in a relaxed atmosphere.

We are still offering the chance to order a signed photo. Obviously there will
be regular signed photos available in the future, while stocks last, but if you
would like a personalized photo, this could be your last chance.

ORDER SIGNED PHOTOS: All pre-orders MUST be received by no later than Thursday
15th March. Personalised photos will be £15 plus applicable postage. Regular
signed photos £10 each. Once Jacqueline has left the country, the cost for
unpersonalised photos will rise to £15 each. We have a choice of several
different photos - information will be posted here in the next few days.

Remember, if you are interested in attending the Horizon signing on Saturday
17th March please let Diane know straight away (this does not commit you to
attending, it is just to gauge interest.) Email Diane at horizonb7@...
or telephone 020 8236 0810 .

JAN CHAPPELL RECOMMENDS.

Jan has just been to see 'Face Value' - Louise Jameson's one-woman play at the
Hackney Empire (playing until 17th March) and thought it was so good that she
wanted to let you all know via the site, in case any of you are able to go as
it's a great night out. Louise of course may be better known to all as the
Doctor's glamorous Companion, Leela. 'Face Value' is written by Helen Goldwyn.

The show runs until Saturday 17 March at 7.30pm at the HACKNEY EMPIRE (Studio
Theatre), 291 Mare Street, London E8 1EJ. Tickets are £12.50 (concessions £9)
see www.hackneyempire.co.uk for more info. Box office 020 8985 2424

'Face Value' - (Diary of a Menopausal Diva) is a one-woman play, populated by a
'cast of thousands'... all played by Louise Jameson. FACE VALUE is an acerbic,
topical comedy about society's obsession with youth, beauty and transformation.
A 'must see' evening for women of A Certain Age... and the families who have to
live with them! Joanne Taylor - former TV Diva - is on the verge of her 55th
birthday, seriously single, 'hot-flushing' and about to make some drastic
changes in her life. She's being offered the chance to revive her career but
her arch rival - the apparently ageless Loretta Monteray - is hot on her heels,
her manager is threatening to dump her if she doesn't smarten up and, to top it
all, her friends have set her up on a date with an ex-boyfriend she hasn't seen
for 25 years! Come and get intimate with Jo and discover how she's arrived at
her crucial moment of decision: should she go for the 'nip 'n tuck' approach or
will 'keeping it real' give her more of what she wants? One thing's for sure,
she's about to learn something she never knew... about herself!

GARETH THOMAS

Gareth has been working on an independent film called 'The Independent' which is
about making. an independent film! Gareth plays Gary Devane, the original film
director on the project, who gets fired. It is being directed by Guy Louthan,
written by Guy Louthan and Neil Monaghan and starring Jennifer Tilly and Jason
Flemyng. He's already done some UK filming and expects to be doing some more
out in Romania later this month. 'The Independent' is a comedy, and centres on
a producer who is given the chance to realize his dream project of filming an
adaptation of an obscure Victorian novel.

"The Independent" is the story of a producer who is given the chance to realize
his dream project; to film an adaptation of an obscure, beautifully written
Victorian novel, "The Tides of Reason". Disillusioned after years of making low
budget genre films, the producer readily accepts the demands of his less than
legitimate financiers. Namely, the production be filmed entirely in Romania to
take advantage of a complicated and slightly suspicious tax deal. Shot in
documentary style, this behind-the-scenes comedy deftly and inexorably exposes
the painful reality of runaway film production. Way off the radar in deepest,
darkest, rural Romania the hopelessly disconnected production veers swiftly off
the tracks as bizarre personalities, cultural, economic and language issues
quickly combine to send the production spiraling into hysteria. (Neil Monaghan)

REMEMBERING TERRY NATION

It is hard to believe that it is ten years since the tragic and untimely death
of Terry Nation, who died on 9th March 1997 after a long illness, aged just 66.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his widow, Kate, and his children Joel and
Rebecca and hope it is a comfort to them to know that his legacy lives on in all
the wonderful shows and stories he created, and the fond memories of those of us
fortunate enough to have met him.

He is still, and will always be, sadly missed.

In June 1997 Horizon dedicated issue 36 of the club magazine to Terry's memory,
and over the next few days we will be uploading features from these tributes
onto the website. http://www.horizon.org.uk

The Play: An artist sells her work, but claims it is still hers. An advertising

Same Time Next Year: Shona Lindsay (Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) and Steven
Pacey star in a comedy by Bernard Slade, directed by multi-award winning Alvin
Rakoff. The play, one of the most successful comedy-dramas ever written,
begins with a naked couple romping under the bed sheets. And goes on from
there! After this first passionate meeting, George and Doris decide to reunite
every year. Why not? They love each other. True, there are a few minor
complications. Such as both being married to other spouses, to whom - aside
from this annual distraction - they are fiercely loyal. For this is indeed a
very moral kind of immoral play. Through the years we watch George and Doris
and their complications and their relationship and their love, mature. Packed

audiences throughout the world rejoice in this tale of life and love and

GARETH THOMAS appears in "Edwin Drood" on BBC 7 (radio) all this
week...

The Mystery of Edwin Drood
Written in 1870, Dickens's last novel has at its heart an ill-fated
engagement and a suspected murder, the victim of which has
disappeared. Dickens died before completing the story, leaving the
mystery unsolved and encouraging successive generations of readers to
turn detective. Starring Ian Holm, Gareth Thomas, Susan Sheridan and
the late Mary Wimbush, The Mystery of Edwin Drood was dramatised by
David Buck and produced by Gordon House for the World Service in 1990.

Paul is providing the narration and several character voices for a
new BBC7 childrens' radio series called "I'm An Alien, Beam Me Off
Here". No details yet on transmission dates. Paul has also recently
recorded a number of commercials and Sky trailers.

Paul is currently narrating 8 episodes of "The Indestructibles" a new
BBC3 series in which four intrepid reporters - Doc Damage, Data Girl
and the Petri Twins - experiment on themselves to uncover the secrets
of the greatest machine ever invented - the human body. Episodes
screen on Tuesday nights at 8.30pm, repeated at various times/days
throughout the week on BBC3. Some of the footage is pretty gruesome –
in ep. 1 the Petri Twins compete to see who can grow the worst case
of foot fungus, and in ep. 2 they give each other a beating to
discover all about bruises! Also in ep. 2 the Doc finds out if he can
access super-human strength to lift up a car simply by being
hypnotized into thinking his friend is trapped underneath, and Data
Girl meets the man with the stretchiest skin in the world! If you're
a bit squeamish, maybe just turn off the picture and listen to the
narration!

Paul also recently narrated the first in a series of four
documentaries called "Stranger than Fiction".

NEW WEBSITE LAUNCH - Update

Further to our earlier happy announcement that the new website was up and
running, it seems we may have been a victim of our own success in having so many
people going to look at the same time, as we experienced a database overload and
the server went down! Or maybe it was an evil Federation plot!

Anyway, it's back aagain, but we've put an explanation on the front page and a
link to get to the rest of the site for the time being, so if it does go again,
at least people will know what's going on and can keep trying it again as and
when.

Thanks to those of you who drew our attention to the problem, and thanks to
those of you who DID manage to access the site and said how much they liked it.

various projects. This special fund-raising production was performed by a
company of professional lawyers and judges and follows the success of two

do rather too much running around and during filming he pulled a hamstring, so
his 'character' had to slow down a little after that!

DAVID MALONEY

It is with deep regret that we announce the death of David Maloney, Producer of
Blake's 7 seasons 1-3, on 18th July 2006. He passed away peacefully at the
Marie Curie Hospice, Hampstead having been suffering from leukaemia. He is
survived by three children, Paul, Matthew and Sophia, and seven grandchildren.

A full obituary will follow shortly, but for now here are some words from Judith
Smith (nee Cross).

"I joined David Maloney as a temporary cover whilst his permanent secretary was
on holiday and spent three happy weeks helping to set up the start of the second
series of Blake's 7. I returned to the team after his secretary resigned and
started to work for David, and Chris Boucher, just as the first block of filming
started for Series 2. I stayed with David during Series 2 and 3 of 'Blake's 7'
and then moved on with him to the fourth series of 'When The Boat Comes In' and
the wonderful adaptation of John Wyndham's 'The Day of the Triffids'.

He was a wonderfully honest and generous man - a talented director, who had
turned his skills to producing. He started in show business as an actor and
often told stories of his days in repertory. He used his interpersonal skills
to great effect in balancing the egos involved in producing any television
series - not just the writers, directors and actors but all the myriad backroom
people from set designers to make up to costumer to props to special effects.

I missed him dreadfully when he left the BBC but he had decided to return to
directing and I know in later years he was teaching the craft of film direction
to college students, passing on the years of experience to the next generation.
I saw him on and off over the years as we both attended cast reunions,
conventions or memorial services, and we exchanged Christmas cards and spoke
occasionally on the telephone.

It was a huge shock to get the news of his death as I'd had no idea that he was
unwell. He leaves the world a poorer place but I am richer for having known
him."

S4 DVD Launch and Mail Order DVDs
The launch event was very well attended on Monday 2nd May in Milton Keynes. The
cast were signing DVDs & photos, and chatting to fans all day, with a special
Q&A panel and guest dinner after the main show and a good time was had by all.
It was great to see Glynis Barber at her first ever event, and whilst somewhat
surprised at how many people wanted to meet her and get her autograph, Glynis
seemed to be having a good time and enjoyed meeting up with her former
colleagues as well as meeting the fans.

To those of you who have ordered their signed S4 DVDs from Horizon, these will
start being posted out in the next few days and we're hoping to complete the
mail-outs by the end of next week. Please be patient a little longer, we'll get
them out to you as quickly as possible.

There are still some signed copies available (both fully signed sets and
single-signature sets) if you've not yet ordered, so if you'd like one send
Diane your order, or email for further details - horizonb7@...

OTHER NEW MERCHANDISE:

'YOU'RE HIM, AREN'T YOU?' - PAUL DARROW'S LONG AWAITED AUTOBIOGRAPHY

Paul Darrow's career has encompassed theatre, television and film. Famed for his
portrayal of Kerr Avon, a ruthless and calculating computer expert, in Terry
Nation's science fiction series Blake's 7, Darrow has also appeared in
Coronation Street, Emergency Ward 10 and many other productions - including two
guest appearances in Doctor Who. Populated by familiar names and productions,
You're Him, Aren't You? is Paul's own story of his life and career. It tells of
his association with Blake's 7 - how he was cast, his experiences of making the
show, what has happened since and his memories of Terry Nation, the cast and the
crew. It also tells of his childhood, his time playing Elvis Presley and his
near miss with James Bond and contains rare photos from throughout Paul's
career. The book is now available in Hardback and published by Big Finish
Productions Ltd. If you love hearing Paul telling stories from his past, you
can't fail to be delighted with this book. You really can 'hear' him speaking
to you through the pages in his amusing, entertaining and inimitable style -
this is a 'must' for all Paul Darrow fans.

Order from Horizon at our special price of £12.75 (RRP £14.99) and receive:

offered in the 'Set of 7' detailed above - this photo will ONLY be available to

With the S4 DVDs and cast signing event on 1st May imminent, Horizon would like
to send out a mailshot to all the club members but doing this by snail-mail is
very expensive. Out of the 700 or so recipients of these Yahoo-Groups Horizon
bulletins, we know that at least 250 of you are actually Horizon club members so
won't need to duplicate the information in a postal mailshot. However, as most
of you just join with an email address that doesn't necessarily correspond to a
name on the membership database it's impossible for us to match them up.

We'd very much appreciate if all those of you who ARE Horizon club members could
take a moment to reply to this email and just say something like 'yes, I'm
Horizon member xxxxx (your real name) and my email address is xxxxxxxxxxx' as
this would help us a great deal.

Thanks very much
Diane

PS The ordering instructions/prices for the S4 DVDs are being typed up and will
be sent out in the next day or two - there will be options to buy at the regular
price with at least one cast member's signature guaranteed, and an option to buy
a set fully signed by all the cast present, and a third option to guarantee that
your one guaranteed signature is of a specific cast member.
