I don't know the name of the episode, but i liked
the one where the guys were doing a paint job, and
Hogan was talking about a pain he was having. When
Schultz took them out for a drink Hogan found out that
Newkirk stole a metal. They were after some top secret
papers. They painted Klink's office, and when they lost
the contract for non-payment from Klink. they stopped
painting and left Klink's office half done.
That's an interesting point, hazkel, but I don't
think all the characters changed. Hogan and Newkirk got
more serious, and Klink got sillier, but I think the
other characters all remained pretty much the same as
they were at the start of the series.
Hi! Welcome to the club!

Greg Kinnear as
Bob Crane? Hmmm...might work.

By the way, I
may be offline for awhile due to "technical
difficulties". I'll be back soon as possible. Although, it could
be a long time. See you all later. Take care!
Hi!! I'm new too - I agree with the Hogan
assessment of how is personality changed during the series.
Newkirk is my favorite by far and Hochstetter my favorite
reoccurring character. Also, I recently read in Entertainment
magazine that Greg Kinear is to star in a movie about Bob
Crane...I kinda have mixed feelings on this depending how
his life is presented.
actually, that's probably because he was in a POW camp! that's a really serious
thing, and he probably just started to realkize that. or at least, that may be
the writer's intention.
Heyas! I'd have to say that my fave character is
Carter. I always seem to go for the 'underdog' sorta
characters <G>. Schultz is a fave too, as much for the
character as for the portrayal of the
character.

Can't really pinpoint any fave eps, it's been a long
time since I've seen most of them. Prime, here in
Canada, has only aired the Pilot through to ep #103, so I
have yet to see some of the eps you guys are
quoting.

Toodles!
Erin ">
Actually if you watch any TV series you will find
that the early episodes portray the characters as they
were written in the script. As the series carries on
the characters slowly take on the personalities of
the actors who play them. Consider William Shatner in
Star Trek or, better yet, the actor who played Dr.
Smith in Lost in Space (do you remember that he was a
villian in the first half of first season!). The actor is
very much a prankster and his character simply took
over the role that was suppose to be
serious.

That is not to say that the characters are really the
same as their actors but their personalities begin to
show through more and more as the series progresses.
This is also what makes really good shows last. The
actors.
One of the things I've noticed about Hogan is how
his personality changed during the course of the
series. In the early episodes he was "Bubbly" and almost
light-hearted, but by the second or third season, he became much
more serious! It was probably deliberate, to make him
seem more in charge, but since the show was a comedy,
I think the earlier version of him was perfectly in
keeping with that mood.
true, true! Hogan, don't get me wrong, is a
little..well i could never find the words till now...thank you
hazekel...he is condesending. I love him, honest i do! i could
never say he wasn't great in the show, or they could
have done without him...but klink and the gang are
what gave the wood to the fire! I look forward to hear
Shultze's first speeches in every episode! My fave
non-regular is Maj. Hochstetter
I'm glad to see that you have followed us! I
remember that you posted the very first message at the
ill-fated Luft Stalag 13 Club!

It reminds me of a
little children's song I heard once: "Make new friends,
but keep the old. One in Silver, and the other in
Gold."
The German's did help make the show funny cause without them Hogan wouldn't have
seen quite to suave and smart. They were definetely a huge part of the show.
I know you girls are goin to get mad but I would
have loved Hogan's Heroes much better without Hogan.
The Germans, Schultz and Klink, are what made the
show work. Personally, although I did not dislike
Hogan, I though the sarcasm and personal character flaws
of Bob Crane showed through in his character too
much. He was just too condesending.

Please
don't yell at me TOO much girls. Schultz and Klink
rule!
I love the scene in the office. That's what made
that episode so funny. It was on just recently and I
recorded it both times and everytime I get home from work
I have to watch it now! I don't think I've ever
laughed so hard from that show until I saw that scene. My
quote is also from that show. I have the one "Stealings
a no-no, just ask Newkirk".
"Bombsite" is a really good one! I love the scene
in Klink's office, when Newkirk is caught braking
into Klink's safe. Actually, I have the line from
that, "Goodbye, nice Colonel.", listed as my favorite
quote on my profile, but it doesn't mean much without
the rest of the dialouge!
Of course my favorite is Newkirk. Schultz though
is also a favorite cause he looked and sounded a lot
like my grandpa. The pilot is one of my favorite
episodes but I really like episode #125 Bombsite.
Hi! I like all of 'em, but my favorite is
Newkirk, followed by Hogan, and the rest. My favorite
episodes are, the pilot, "Reservations Required", the
chimp episode, the one where Newkirk dresses as a woman
and attends the tea party, among others. MANY others!
hey i'm new, and by the looks of things, so is
thsi club! just wanted to tell you how much i
appreciate this! Hogan's Heroes is my fave show, but i
couldn't find any communities for it on msn! o, by the
way, who's your fave charachter? mine's lebeau! i like
how he calls Shultz "Shultzy"!
~Hoganchic
