But may or may not effect whether it'll make it to the air or not. Fox
just named Peter Liguori their new broadcasting president. He used to
run the FX cable network, which produced brilliant shows like the
Shield.

Basically, i was thinking this may well be a very good thing. Crazy
Lawyers has so much promise (at least, I think so), but there was some
worry about FOX mishandling it, as they have a tendancy to do with
decent shows. However, Mr. Liguori has experiance with developing high
concept shows, and god willing, that will bode well for 'Lawyers.'

As he is quoted as saying: "I could not be more excited to work with
them to roll out the network's impressive new development slate."

Nothing major, just part of an article about film stars such as Glenn
Close going into television. Again, i was intrigued by the wording:

Also possibly coming to TV: Chris O'Donnell (Kinsey) in next fall's
Fox legal drama Crazy Lawyers and Aidan Quinn (Legends of the Fall)
as an unconventional man of the cloth in NBC's Book of Daniel.

It's an interesting read.

Okay, this comes from FilmJerk, so i'm not sure how reliable it is.
I have trouble trusting anyone who cannot spell someone's name
correctly.

Nevertheless:

-

There are Crazy Lawyers coming on FOX. Chris O'Donnel and Adam
Goldberg are buddied up by their psychiatrist, and must look after
each other and keep each other's neurosis and problems under control.

-

So, according to this, it's Dr. Robinson who suggest Jason team with
Shultz (or vice versa.) Interesting. Also, the wording seems to again
suggest that this show is already a done deal.

I'm having such positive vibes about this project right now. ;)

Cool update to "Crazy Lawyers"...Chris' second cinematic foray into
parenthood...he has a son in CL...here's the newsbrief...CRAZY
LAWYERS (FOX) - Jake Cherry ("Third Watch") has scored the role
of Chris O'Donnell and Krista Allen's son in the drama pilot, about a
successful golden boy lawyer (O'Donnell) who has a nervous breakdown
and teams up with another mentally disturbed lawyer with an anger
problem (Adam Goldberg) to help people with issues, legal and
otherwise. Aimee Garcia, Rachael Leigh Cook and Rockmond Dunbar also
star in the 20th Century Fox Television project, which comes from
executive producers Bill Chais, Jeff Rake and Barry Josephson. Cherry
spent the past development season attached to the failed ABC drama
pilot "Kat Plus One."

'Unscripted' Star Written into FOX Pilot
(Thursday, March 03 11:44 AM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Krista Allen, coming off her turn as more or
less herself in HBO's "Unscripted," has joined the cast of FOX's
crazy-lawyers pilot. William Fichtner, Missi Pyle and Dave Attell
have also landed pilot gigs.
Allen will play the estranged wife of Chris O'Donnell's character in
the FOX pilot, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show, which
has variously been called "House of Payne," "Crazy Lawyers" and the
Untitled Crazy Lawyers Project, is about an attorney (O'Donnell) who
suffers a breakdown and then goes into business with another lawyer
who has anger issues (Adam Goldberg).

In addition to "Unscripted," Allen has been a regular on "Baywatch"
and appeared in "Anger Management" and "Paycheck" (and, as referenced
repeatedly in the HBO show, several soft-porn "Emmanuelle" movies,
playing the title character). She has a fairly extensive list of TV-
guest credits, including appearances
on "CSI," "Smallville," "Charmed" and "Two and a Half Men."

Jeff Rake was one of the executive producers, but has now departed.
He served as executive producers for episodes 1-10, 13.

(Don't forget to check out Crazy Lawyers A.K.A. House of Payne
in fall of 2005 from creator Jeff Rake who will also serve as an
executive producer.)

Well, it could just have been an assumption on E! Online's part. Either
that, or they know something the rest of us don't.

I always assumed every show had to do a pilot, dead lock or not. However,
it's not my area of expertise.

Okay, i'm officially confused:

Rachael Leigh Cook and Adam Goldberg may not be crazy, but they're
going to play it on TV. They join Chris O'Donnell in the new Fox
drama Crazy Lawyers about a rage-aholic (Goldberg) who opens a law
firm with his nervous breakdown-prone partner (O'Donnell). The series
debuts next fall.

CRAZY LAWYERS (FOX) - Adam Goldberg ("Saving Private Ryan"), Rachael
Leigh Cook ("She's All That") and Rockmond Dunbar ("Soul Food") have
all joined the cast of the drama pilot, about a successful golden boy
lawyer (Chris O'Donnell) who has a nervous breakdown and teams up

unkempt attorney with an explosive rage problem, while Cook is set as

Shultz. "Lawyers" comes from executive producers Jeff Rake, Bill
Chais

Garcia, most recently featured in "Spanglish," will next be seen

Unfortunately, it's not. They are waiting to see how the pilot turns
out:

"Should the pilot make it to series, it would be O'Donnell's
first
regular role on a series."

On a related note, i knew i'd heard of Andy Fleming (the guy whose
exec
producer and director on the series) before, so I looked him up on
IMDB.com. He
made The Craft and Dick - both indie films i thought were great. That
just made me all the more positive. Chais and Rake (who wrote it)
have worked on The Practice, which may or may not be a clue as to
where they picked their lead actor from.

And speaking of actors - we should be hearing about who has been cast
as Chris' partner on the show fairly soon. *is excited*

Chris O’Donnell, coming off the critically acclaimed film “Kinsey,” has signed on to star in a pilot about two unbalanced lawyers for Fox.

The show, from Bill Chais (“Family Law”) and Jeff Rake (“Boston Legal”), centers on a successful attorney named Jason Payne (O’Donnell) who suffers a nervous breakdown, the showbiz trades report. In trying to get his life back on track, he goes into practice with a lawyer who has a fairly pronounced anger-management problem.

Together, they represent people with all kinds of issues, legal and otherwise. Chais wrote the script for the pilot — which is called either “House of Payne,” “Crazy Lawyers” or the untitled Chais/Rake project, depending on whom you ask — and is executive producing with Rake.

Should the pilot make it to series, it would be O’Donnell’s first regular role on a series. In addition to “Kinsey,” the actor played Robin in the last two “Batman” movies and has appeared in “Vertical Limit,” “Cookie’s Fortune” and “The Chamber.”

Last year, he starred in a comedy pilot for CBS called “The Amazing Westermans,” which didn’t make it onto the network’s roster.

O'Donnell's Crazy for FOX Pilot
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Chris O'Donnell, coming off the critically acclaimed film "Kinsey," has signed on to star in a pilot about two unbalanced lawyers for FOX.

The show, from Bill Chais ("Family Law") and Jeff Rake ("Boston Legal"), centers on a successful attorney named Jason Payne (O'Donnell) who suffers a nervous breakdown, the showbiz trades report. In trying to get his life back on track, he goes into practice with a lawyer who has a fairly pronounced anger-management problem.

Together, they represent people with all kinds of issues, legal and otherwise. Chais wrote the script for the pilot -- which is called either "House of Payne," "Crazy Lawyers" or the untitled Chais/Rake project, depending on whom you ask -- and is executive producing with Rake.

Should the pilot make it to series, it would be O'Donnell's first regular role on a series. In addition to "Kinsey," the actor played Robin in the last two "Batman" movies and has appeared in "Vertical Limit," "Cookie's Fortune" and "The Chamber."

Last year, he starred in a comedy pilot for CBS called "The Amazing Westermans," which didn't make it onto the network's roster.
