Why not just make beer bread? There are recipes out there without the
cheese. As I recall, you can make it with just beer and self-rising flour.

Of course, this leaves more cheese for the rest of us (hee-heeee.)

I looked at the recipe and the cheese looks like it is laced through
the bread, not so much incorporated. So I think you will be fine to
leave it out.

But then: WWAD? (What Would Alton Do?) Try this: Mix up half the
dough with 1-2 tablespoons of butter as a substitute for the cheese,
half without. In your loaf pan, make a foil dam and put half the
dough on each side. Bake and see!

That happens often, though Food Network is one of the better sites
for recipe accuracy. Had one two weeks ago -- a bread dough recipe
from Mario Batali. It was missing a couple of cups of water.

It's a good idea to read the comments.

The worst I have seen is Bravo TV. Good luck finding a recipe from
Top Chef and when you do, odds are high that it's not merely wrong,
it's whacky-crazy wrong. There was one there in which the recipe and
title didn't match -- they had entered the wrong recipe. Duh.

It IS a bottle opener. For a Beer bottle. Which looks EXACTLY like (sans the
color change) the bottle opener he used in the recent alcohol show to open the
bottle of beer that went into the beer cheese bread.

It's also adorable.

Cook's Illustrated has a great video podcast. They run just 3-4

Sounds like he needs to consult a nutritionist and start a
workout

program. to maintain the wait he has lost and to have a more ballanced

diet.

The man has lost 50 frickin' pounds. And needs diet advice from an e-mail
group? Not really sure about that one.

I hate to even say this but in that article he said that he never wants

his

show to "jump the shark" but I think he just did just that with his 10th

Anniversary special. That was an hour long train wreck. I assume he was

going for an over the top and boy did he ever go over the top.

That being said I am still very much looking forward to this upcoming

season.

Sounds like he needs to consult a nutritionist and start a workout
program. to maintain the wait he has lost and to have a more ballanced
diet.

The man has lost 50 frickin' pounds. And needs diet advice from an e-mail
group? Not really sure about that one.

One thing that I do have to say is this.

We love Alton Brown, we admire him and his work. Should we really be

"judging" what he does off screen? My humble opinion is we shouldn't.

Where did he say this about his diet? As a dietitian, I'd love to hear

what he's doing.

Hi Becky Bear

program. to maintain the wait he has lost and to have a more ballanced

diet.

He also says that 90% of his diet is fruit smoothies, canned sardines

and

almonds. That does not sound like just the usual cutting bad foods out

to

me. Even the Biggest Loser contestants seem to eat a variety of healthy

foods. I feel like a douche for even commenting on this, b/c everyone

deserves their privacy, but I can't help but wonder if/how his new diet

will

affect future shows.
