*Premieres Friday 10 February at 8.30pm*

Jennifer Love Hewitt has taken a varied approach to show business since
she first appeared on camera aged 9. Hewitt went on to find fame in
Party of Five with Lost's Matthew Fox, worked on her music career and
albums, and starred in films such as The Audrey Hepburn Story,
Heartbreakers, I Know What You Did Last Summer, and the creatively
titled I Still Know What You Did Last Summer. Then there has been the
love life, which if the tabloids are half right, would seen to have been
rather hectic.

Now she's back where her fame began, on the small screen in new series
Ghost Whisperer, which has her seeing dead people, and much, much more.

Love Hewitt plays Melinda Gordon, a newlywed who communicates with
earth-bound spirits. They're ghosts who cling to the living because they
have unfinished business preventing them from moving beyond the familiar
plane of existence - to the layperson, living in the real world!

Inspired in part by the work of famed medium James Van Praagh and Mary
Ann Winkowski, a real life communicator with spirits, Ghost Whisperer
explores the spiritual side of life and death as Melinda navigates among
the dead and the living in her sometimes chilling, sometimes
heart-rending and often amusing attempts to act as an intermediary
between the ghosts and those they haunt.

Jim, Melinda's husband, worries about the emotional toll this work is
taking on his wife as they embark on a new life together. Andrea, her
friend and business partner in an antique store, is fascinated by
Melinda's talent. For her part, Melinda accepts her unique 'abilities'
as a blessing and sometime curse, but always helps her clients - alive
or dead - find emotional closure. By 'releasing' the spirits from the
shackles that bind them to this world, Melinda frees the living from the
ghostly residue that has for them become an otherworldly ball and chain.

In the premiere episode, Melinda is contacted by the spirit of a soldier
who says he is lost. Melinda thinks he may not realise that he is dead
so she does some research and discovers that he was classified
missing-in-action in 1972. However, when she contacts the soldier's son
about his father, he thinks Melinda is trying to scam him and now
Melinda must find a way to help both father and son find closure.

Mastectomy Bill in Congress

It takes 2 seconds to do this and is very important...please take the time and do it really quick!

Breast Cancer Hospitalization Bill - Important legislation for all women.

Please send this to everyone in your address book. If there was ever a time when our voices and choices should be heard, this is one of those times. If you are receiving this it's because I think you will take the 30 seconds to go and vote on this issue and send it on to others you know who will do the same.

There's a bill called the Breast Cancer Patient Protection Act which will require insurance companies to cover a minimum 48-hour hospital stay for patients undergoing a mastectomy. It's about eliminating the "drive-through mastectomy" where women are forced to go home hours after surgery against the wishes of their doctor, still groggy from anesthesia and sometimes with drainage tubes still attached.

Lifetime Television has put this bill on their web page with a petition drive to show your support. Last year over half the House signed on.

PLEASE!! Sign the petition by clicking on the web site below. You need not give more than your name and zip code number.

http://www.lifetimetv.com/health/breast_mastectomy_pledge.html

PLEASE PASS THIS ON to your friends and family. THANKS

After this weeks show I changed my mind.

Dialog was very disjointed and almost better if Melinda just picks up last two or three words with careful editing so that we hear ghost talking and then Melinda comes in as an increasing voiceover at end.

Think that would work better.

You are right , we (audience don;t need to hear it twice.

Hi, My name is Amy B. and I have a question that I hope someone can
help me with. Question is when a ghost/spirit is talking to Melinda
and wants her to repeat what they said to the loved one why does
Melinda not say exactly what they said word for word? I think she
wants to put it in her own words but some of what they say the loved
ones would love to hear but is not said.

Has anyone else noticed this or does it just bug me? And could
Melinda not cover up, guess she wants the spirits to drool :-)

Waiting for a reply,
Amy B.

I run http://www.ghost-whisperer.com/ and am looking for a dedicated
and knowledgeable fan to run the site due to other commitments
that make it impossible for me to do so (i'm just swamped now).

No HTML knowledge is necessary. I have created a Webmaster
Administration panel that is really fast and easy to use. Through this
panel
you can update the entire site just like you are a typing an e-mail.

I will probably give access to 2-3 people so the site can be
constantly updated with cool information.

e-mail me at peterichards23 @ yahoo.com.

In the e-mail, please write a paragraph describing yourself and what
you do.

Have a wonderful New Year!

That's a fascinating thought Dee Dee, but to believe that the
afterlife is full of purely good souls that are lost and can't find
their way for whatever reasons is a bit naive. I hope and fully expect
there to be some evil spirits in the show attempting to wreak havoc. I
don't condone evil, but it does exist; the current administration of the
US is a perfect example, so to think that only "Good" people might not
be able to find their way doesn't make sense to me.

Speaking from a 'knowledgeable' position as well, I tend toward the
belief that when everyone dies, and we all will, we have a choice to
make, either we go up or down or we continue on our path whatever that
path may be, personally up or down isn't an interesting choice to me...
however, continuing on the path, wherever it may lead keeps me
interested and curious about what's around the next bend in the road...

I too, hope this show survives. The early reviews have not treated
this show kindly... some reviewers have chosen to focus on Love's
breasts more than the show itself, but for winning it's time slot on
Friday night and 27th overall out of all the new shows this season... it
shows great promise. Almost 12 million people watched the show, and I
know many fans of JLH, of which I am one are going to continue to watch
until it no longer airs.

The pilot was great, although a little empty in my opinion, I was
hoping for more background, but the writers chose to leap directly into
the middle of her life and barely scratch the surface of how the little
girl we saw at the beginning managed to come to terms with seeing dead
people all of a sudden. WE are expected to just accept that this
happens and that in my opinion is the fatal flaw in all the occult has
to teach us. As people, consumers and fans in general, we are very
rarely 'shown' how or why these things are. Instead, we are handed an
idea and told believe or don't, the choice is yours and let's face the
facts, The average citizen is just that, average... their education and
experiences don't give them the capacity to wrap their thoughts around
the concept of dead people walking among us... it just doesn't happen
that way.

I hope this show survives, as did */Highway to Heaven/* and a couple
of others of it's kind, but in a market where money matters above all
else, a decent show like */Joan of Arcadia/* was axed without a thought
to make way for something new. I hope it continues to provide us with
exciting stories, scary moments and strange occurances, good or bad and
I hope that in the end, we always see Melinda in her husbands arms with
a smile and a hug for a job well done... but life isn't like that and if
this show want's to reflect the normalcy of wandering spirits with
things to finish, then we as fans should not hope the stories are
restricted to goody-goody happy endings... or maybe a better statement
would be that we should not EXPECT the stories to be all peaches and
cream, but at least hope for the best to always prevail because hope is
important to all of us... and as for dealing with the spirit of a
murderer or some such evil-ness, wouldn't overcoming such a vile and
useless existance to follow a path that is right and just be life
affirming and honorable?

Just some thoughts on ghosts and spirits and the afterlife as
experienced vicariously through Jennifer Love Hewitt's character each
week... hope everyone is having a good time! Later...

Hello there:

I am very interested in this show as I have had my own ghostly
encounters. I did a show to support James Van Prague who is the
technical consultant medium and was blown away by what he had to say.
They supposedly based many of Jennifer Love's story lines on his own
experiences!

A new book just came out on Amazon that also supports the show you
might be interested in: Afterlife Encounters by Dianne Arcangel which
you can order on Amazon.com.

It's also helping to fuel story lines about encounters by average
people.

Anyway, I hope this series gets better and doesn't get too lost in
sensationalism. I mean I hope that there won't be the ghost of a
murderer after Love's character in some future episode. I really want
the story lines to be life affirming and to show that we aren't alone
and that life really does go on...

anyway, glad to be here!

CBS has Ghost Whisperer, an incredibly stupid title but a very
compassionate show. And there are comparisons to be drawn between
Ghost Whisperer's Melinda and Medium's Allison.

Very nice, one is on Monday, another is on Friday! Bookends!

Both women are compassionate towards the souls they speak to.

Both are married. Allison's life is more chaotic because of the 3
noisy kids who demand more of their dad, Joe's time than of Allison.

Melinda is newlywed with no children. Her husband is very
understanding of her dreams, as opposed to Joe, who has at times
gotten scarcastic and angry when Alison has a dream.

Allison's Joe is fed up and crabby. Melinda's husband is a doll!

Both shows are good. If the networks find themselves suddenly
running out of storylines, they can team up Melinda and Allison
somewhere down the line. It's happened before on tv. Maybe someday
Allison will need a babysitter?

All in all, don't we all wish we had that special gift?

I absolutely cried through the last 3/4 of this show. Between being
active duty, having a respect for our Vietnam missing, and losing my
Dad prior to a lot of the most significant parts of my life (college
graduation, joining the Navy, marriage, and my daughter's birth), a lot
of what was said between Melinda, Paul and Michael really spoke to me.

Can anyone tell me how I can get a copy of the pilot episode on at
least VHS, if not DVD?

Again, wow...

This is a very compassionate show. Just like Medium, both main
characters are very compassionate as well as being misunderstood.

Jennifer Love-Hewitt's character is a newlywed, her husband
understands and is very emphathetic with her. In Medium, they have
been married a number of years and have 3 loud kids. In Medium, the
husband, Joe, is stuck with the kids all the time. In Ghost
Whisperer, they don't have any kids...yet.

The only problem I have with Ghost Whisperer is that she and her best
friend talk about spirits as if they were talking about their
favorite make-up. It just hit me wrong.

It's understandable that we have to draw comparisons to both shows.
I love them both, I'm not into reality tv, I want tv that I can
escape to....not tv that reminds me of the backstabbers at work.

We will see how this show evolves. I still miss "Joan of Arcadia"
for it's argumentative scenes and felt it was taken away just as it
was beginning to evolve.

Thanks and take care,

Joan

Hi everyone...
I just joined the group. I am really looking forward to the series
starting. I am a big fan of anything supernatural/horror related. I am
just glad Ghost Whisperer will be on CBS instead of FOX... FOX never
gives this time of show the chance to start that it deserves.

Pete

These are full screen caps from the as yet unaired pilot. If I find

Ghost Whisperer is going to be great! I've been a fan of LOVE since I
first saw her on McKenna and I'm happy CBS chose her pilot for this
fall. I hope Ghost lasts longer than her Party of Five spinoff and can
be as successful for CBS as CSI.
