It is just make believe so she really isn't hurting anyone and the writers are trying to keep the viewers interested by keeping the pacing up.  If you heard everything said twice, week-after-week, you'd naturally become bored after a while.  They know you the audience hears what the ghost says and don't need to hear everything twice.
