I tried searching you tube for genes show but have never found much. Am I doing
something wrong? I'd still like to see some gene meets planet of the apes
footage.

No, Jimmy you're not doing anything wrong..Gene's video's are not on you
tube..They are owned by Gene and were never syndicated by WCAU..No one has the
right to air them now ,but Gene. A lot of material went missing from WCAU a few
years back..Gene is having some difficulties getting the tapes in his possession
transfered exactly the way he wants them..The few clips there are of any
significance in any one place, are here on the site..in our "files"
section...This is an on going endeavor and everyone involved is putting there
best efforts into getting the tapes done ASAP..

Good news BakerJ. Have you seen any of the work-in-progress? Impressions? I
wonder if it will be a bit of everything over the years, or focus on specific
topics/skits?

well, these will be full individual episodes of the show from a broad
range..different show formats and "specials" Gene wants to preserve the
integrity of the "complete shows" . There are some odds and ends, clips and such
that may be added to augment the volumes..He's working on a number of
Ideas..Whatever Gene finally decides on will be great!! This is the first time
the shows have been transfered to a newer format..there have been two format
changes in betwen what they used to record on and modern standard video tape..
Now of course there are dvd's -- Gene_Londons_Cartoon_Corners@yahoogroups.com,

I felt compelled to send this and Gene London himself actually replied
beautifully.

Hi Mr. London I have been a fan of yours since my parents brought to this
country in the very early 60's. I was even on your show. I am writing you
because I for whatever reason I started singing Lets Pretend That Its Story Time
to my 2 year Granddaughter (I can't sing LOL) but she enjoyed so much that she
shakes her head and even sings it back which is the most adorable thing I have
seen (of course there is a little bias she is my Granddaughter) it so great to
allow these young kids today to enjoy the innocence that you brought into our
homes for so many years on Saturday morning. Even if it is just a song. I hope
one day you would be in the Willow Grove area or somewhere close so I can
introduce you to Briella (Princess Briella) her father never really cared about
her so my daughter and her live with us and I have assumed the father figure and
love her so much. So I want to thank you for showing me at my early age what a
wonderful world this could be thru your eyes.

Yours Truly

Wow, what a wonderful reply from Gene! I still think about him at times and how much fun his shows truly were. There is nothing like that today for our children. I will often scan the cartoon programming and human personalities who really care about children are rare.

Chuck, I do hope you and Gene cross paths within the near future.

Thanks for the responce, and the fond wishes, as I said Gene was a part of the wonderful programming we all so richly enjoyed as children in philly, and I believe He needs To be rewarded at least in praise for all the memories so many of us have of him... capt's noah and kangeroo, Sally Starr, cheif halftown, and wee willy are equally deserving. again, thanks ,Chuck    om: "LeeDebbie@..." <LeeDebbie@...>

Wow, what a wonderful reply from Gene! I still think about him at times and how much fun his shows truly were. There is nothing like that today for our children. I will often scan the cartoon programming and human personalities who really care about children are rare.

Chuck, I do hope you and Gene cross paths within the near future.

Gene is still here!! Still magical ...I have often spoken to Gene about the old

Did Gene participate in any of the Philadelphia Thanksgiving parades? Perhaps he
was a float participant? I have this recollection, but not sure if he did. Any
memories?

Yes, I can speak about at least one year.  I'll say it was around 1969 or so and Gene did a contest for people to write in and join him on his float.  My name was chosen and when we arrived in town, I was too scared to go by myself (I was around four years old).  Gene et al were nice enough to let my sister ride too.  I remember it being VERY cold and they served us cookies and hot chocolate.  We also had to make a stop because the mailbox that was on the float as a prop was too heavy so it had to be removed.

Here it is more than 40 years later and I still remember the day clearly.

I wonder if we could talk Gene into this...

Crazy idea for the 2011? holiday season. Would baby boomers, their children and
perhaps grand children be interested in seeing/paying for a ~ 2-hour live show
that would more or less re-create elements of the former TV show ?

The show would star Gene; he would perform story telling (with live drawings),
play- acting, and perhaps show cartoons. The stage would be built to
represent Cartoon Corners, Quigley mansion, have a fleece and other familiar
props. The play could be holiday-themed aimed at the inner child in all.

The live show would be timed to run during the holiday season (December, 2011?).
GL could have the (old show) DVDs ready for sale at the venue(s). The live stage
show(s) would be vid recorded and edited for later sale. The show could run in
one theatre for a few weeks or travel the Philly metro area showing at different
venues for a single performance.

We would need a sponsor (Channel 10 would be perfect - as the advertising would
be excellent).

Thoughts?

I bet there would be loads of volunteers (carpenters/playwrights,
videographers/webcasters)to make this happen.

The whole idea sounds so wonderful. This would be great in a perfect world. I
fear that we or anyone can do this in such a short time. You also must remember
that Gene does not live in this area, and perhaps is not up to the work load to
do more than a few shows.

Perhaps we should try to see if spring would allow more time to make this
possible.

We also must remember that Gene may have some Trunk Shows planned. If one should
be in the Philly area perhaps he would agree to do a few shows.

Lets cross our fingers on this one!!!!!!!!!
