I wouldn't do it. With Facebook, you toss all your privacy out the window.
Facebook has violated  privacy issues time and time again.

There is a FB page called "Who remember's the Gene London Show?" The site owner
asked me to become an admin..and Gene looks in there from
time to time too.. Gene's pretty busy and any one who knows FB knows it can take
up up a lot of time..and there are a lot of privacy issues. If you wish to
contact Gene directly you may reach him at CartoonCorners@...
Thanks, John

I know you may disagree but to call me "lame" was not very nice. I have since changed my view on the Facebook thing and posted a message saying so.

There are many of us on Facebook who greatly enjoy it; to those who don't, that's their option ;o)  As a matter of fact, Bernie Parent is on FB, is quite active with his fans, and it is quite fun for me to interact with one of my idols in sports as well.

There are many who enjoy FB..It is a very social interactive place..It's a great
place for reconnecting with old friends and networking, like all of these sites
there are many who abuse/use these sites for their own purposes both good and
bad..I'm neither endorsing or discouraging it's use..This really isn't the place
for that..As for Gene as of now he chooses not to Join and he is really very
swamped with projects and plans..

I’m not endorsing what Gene would want to do, either.

However, as long as you control the Facebook page, you can control any privacy problems. He really doesn’t have to give much personal info, though of course, people will tend to doubt who he is.

Belonging to the fan  or friend page may be able to be set up to allow approval or rejection.

The main advantage would be to see how many more can be exposed to an active page. The WHO REMEMBERS THE GENE LONDON SHOW has over 4400 fans.

By setting an admin, the flow of info can keep coming, and Gene can jump in or out whenever he sees fit.

Again, not advocating, just saying.

It's just that Gene is spread pretty thin, with so much going on and yes, people
would doubt it's him..He reads these posts regularly and does look at the FB
page "Who Remembers Gene London" occasionally.
The page owner Ron is a huge Gene London fan and a good guy, we have had to
delete several inappropriate posts there already..It was really
great of Ron to offer me an admin position that way we can keep everything
coordinated and cross promote..and take care fo proelms that arise..

Actually Gene doesn't want video posted on YouTube, Check out the video we have
in the files section here..It's limited for the time being..the Transfer process
has slowed the progress in getting the tapes done...Gene wants a quality product
to distribute and it's taking longer than originally planned..
Thanks Everyone,
Hopefully soon I'll have some news in regards to the tapes,
                   Regards,

Hi, all,

VH1 has been airing a special called SOUL TRAIN: THE HIPPEST TRIP ON THE PLANET. They ran it again last night about 2 AM.

This is a history of Soul Train. However, the people who cleared some clips for inclusion made a funny mistake.

SOUL TRAIN started on a Chicago TV Station, WCIU Ch. 26 in the 60’s . It was a station with a large black audience.

So, last night, they are doing a segment on the local show on WCIU, showing various clips and behind the scenes shots, plus stills.

As I am watching this, I see a shot from the POV of behind a broadcast camera of a young man in an apron near a door that was the entrance to a shop. I see a familiar counter, the shops behind the counter, and to the left, a potbellied stove. The young man is standing still, so action has not yet been called.

Yes, this is color footage of Cartoon Corners General Store. You can see some production personnel  and some TV10 cameras. The clip is about 8 minutes in, and only last for under 10 seconds. There is another panned shot from the right of the counter and you can see Gene is the viewfinder of the camera. There are a few other clips that look like TV10 control room clips, and one really good clip that clearly identifies the camera as WCAU TV10.

What looks like happened here is that whoever handled clip clearance searched WCIU but accepted and used some from WCAU.

The footage used looked like it was from a promo reel, possibly one used to solicit advertisers.

In any case, these are all in the 15 minutes or so of the opening, so if you get a chance to see it, enjoy.

I am one of thousands of baby boomers from the Philadelphia area who grew up
watching the Gene London show. I guess you recieve countless emails from fans of
your show, and I dont want to blend in with the "I am your biggest fan'
mentality. I have wondered through the years about you and if you were still
around and thanks to the internet I can contact You and let you know how much
YOU have touched my imagination and love of Fantasy and imagination and reading.
I owe you a debt of thanks, Because of you I gained a thirst for reading very
early in life, I have been to places i read about (some are stories you
masterfully illustrated) I remember crying after you told a sad story about a
princess, I WAS THERE. Gene, You were as big a part of my past as my favorite
teacher and I consider you a mentor. Please it would mean so much if you replyed
and told me you got this I would be honored. I just turned 47 two days ago and I
guess mid life crisis time is upon me, I am so glad I have the chance to let you
know you are STILL appreciated and remembered. Please if you have time let me
know you recieved this. Are you still public? I would love to meet you.......

Hey everybody!

Just a note about recent posts, I have no knowledge of any agreements made between Gene or anybody else dealing with memorabilia..This is not the place to address any concern over such issues,If someone was in contact with Gene I'm sure they have an email address or other means of contact..
I don't want to speak for Gene as my official capacity is to run the website, moderate over on the FB website and make a few business inquiries on his behalf as well as contacting old friends an co-workers etc. and PR of course to varying degrees..
However, (anyone should be allowed to change their mind, right? possibly disappointing I know but still)if no one lost anything and all items are still in the owners possession..then I suppose another buyer can be found if they are viewed as "valuable". As much upset and inconvenience as this may cause the prospective "buyer" (Gene or whomever) has decided not to purchase the items for reasons of their own. I'm not here to make apologies..and am not doing so on behalf of Gene or anyone else, I speak totally as the moderator/owner of the group and I wouldn't want anyone to go away angry or upset over a misunderstanding (although I wasn't involved in this matter in any way, shape or form) Just trying to smooth it out and have everybody be happy! I do want to take this opportunity to say that over the past five yrs. I have been friends and associated with Gene that he has been like a second father to me, asked for nothing, yet always there in time of need and proven to me time and time again that he really is the "Guy" we all grew up with..it's a shame a misunderstanding can balloon into such negativity.
Also, if anyone received any (negative) letters/emails in error (which I did not send, nor am I privy to) I have been instructed by parties who were involved to apologise on their behalf for that oversight. Whew! OK, hope everyone is OK and I hope everyone continues to have a great time here! Hopefully I'll be able to share some of the big plans on the near horizon!
Thanks everyone!
Be safe! have fun!
John

Thanks Adrain!
You were one of the first members to Join if I recall? and you shared "A
walking talking Christmas tree" (Gene's only recording with the group) You feel
the true spirit of why the group was started and why we all wanted to be members
n the first place..Thanks!

Gene  opened the general store with the theme song..A box  of confetti  landed on his his head, the phone rang,., it was Mr.Dibley.. and he was angry  at Gene for eating the inventory,,,,Gene explains that he didn't,  "Oh yes, yes, you did, Dibley screams!
look under the counter at all the opened caned goods and cereal boxes,,If it wasn't you than who?.., find out  fast..,otherwise  I'll call the police. I bet the kids did it.... find out just whose been eating my profits, otherwise I''ll fire you and find someone who knows how to handle a robber,, you rubber brained nincompoop!.  Sir, I am Not A RUBBERBRAINED NINCOMPOOP!
Mr Dibley hangs up,,, come on kids, Gene asks the kids, look around and see if you find any opened cans or cereal boxes. The kids look and find,,and the pile grows larger,,the phone rings again,
Did you catch them yet, No sir, says Gene.. but we found more opened cans and stuff,,and the cans smell like they've just been opened.. What? Yes sir I'll have a look round, bye sir.
Kids, the robber may still be in the store
maybe hiding..kids all scream!
Shh.. they'll hear you..I think we better get outta here!
kid's reply; But you told Mr/ dibley you were going to search for him..
That's just what I thought I'd do,,search outside,,
wait.. be still.. do you hear something,?
'sounds like an animal..
animals can't open tin cans,,
Where's it coming from..the basement,,
a wild beast is sleeping in my bed down there.
look.. footprints..  muddy footprints.. leading to the storage closet,.. you kids find places to hide..

gimme your baseball bat..( Gene crosses to storeroom door,, he opens it

sound effect..wild gorillas sounds.. camera zooms into Genes startled face..he can't believe his eyes
( Fade to black for commercial break)

of course an ape is sleeping under  an old blanket..another stinger as Gene pulls of the blanket..the kids and Gene run out the store screaming.

he runs  up the porch stairs to Mrs. dibleymam's kitchen door. he knocks and calls her.
A gloved hand reaches and shakes his shoulder.. Gene is so startled . he shrieks!.. and turns expecting it to be who ever  was sleeping in the store room..

Hi,

First I want to thank the Owner of the list for allowing me to join. Second, I
enjoy reading the posts to see how active Gene is.

My name is Debbie and I'm 58 yrs old. I grew up watching Cartoon Corners General
Store and later the Gene London Show. My Brownie Troop took us all on an outting
for a taping of Cartoon Corners General Store. All I remember was how fun it was
to be there. We even got to sit at Gene's feet for story time.

I had begun to wonder what had become of Gene London and I came upon all sorts
of information and this wonderful Yahoo Group.

Thanks again for allowing me to be a member,

Debbie

Oh my! I'm going to go and do that right now! All of this is bringing back so many wonderful memories from my childhood. I used to catch Gene's show before I went to school in the mornings. Gosh, I realized I watched the Gene London show all through High School, too! It was always so interesting.
