a 2-step dance walk across the floor towards Ellen] [Ellen and
Fantasia bear hug each other] Ellen: Listen... First of all
congratulations. I know you've had time to get over all this excitement
now. Its been a while but I'm still excited about it. Almost like it was
last night. Fantasia: Oh Man! Ellen: I remember it
so clearly. When you won. And first of all I am so glad you won. I
was... I was... When you were crying... I was at home. And I know
people were crying. And I wasn't just crying a little bit. I was like
oohoohoohoohooohooohooohooo. I was crying so hard when you won.
Fantasia: I was too. Ellen: Yes you were. And it was so
moving that you were crying and singing... and just... you've overcome
so much... Fantasia: Man... you know what... I always tell
people I've been through the storm and the rain but I made it. I made
it. It was tough. [audience applause's] Fantasia: It was
tough. It was tough but um... I made it and I'm doing something that I
love to do and I can take care of my own child now. Ellen:
Yeah... 'Cause you... before... before... this happened you have...
you're 19 and you have a two year old. Zion. Is that her name?
Fantasia: Zion, Yes Ellen And uh... lookit... uh.. she looks
just like you. She's so adorable. Look at that. Fantasia:
Oh... Let me see... She's giving that look too. That's the Look.
[makes pouting face] Ellen: Yep Fantasia : That's
It. Ellen: She's got a little attitude. Fantasia: I
know. Ellen: I like it. I like it. You probably had that. You
look like you were just born with personality... Just...
Fantasia: I was a happy kid... No... she's got a lot of attitude.
Ellen: Oh Fantasia: I don't know what to do with her.
Ellen: Really? Ellen: but she... but you're... so
you're raising her by yourself. that's hard. Fantasia: Yeah
Ellen: at 19 years old Fantasia: I'm a single mom
[nodding her head] Ellen: before... and you had some bad stuff
happen to ya... which... a lot of women get stuck in that and don't get
out and you got out. Fantasia: I got out. [audience
applause's] Ellen: Yeah.. so... you were having a hard time
feeding her, even. You were like borrowing money to... to... and then
look at ya now. Fantasia: Yeah... you know I don't have to
borrow anymore. [audience laughs] Ellen: Yeah.. no you're
never gonna have to borrow. Fantasia: naw, I go to the Disney
Store and I'm like "Zion, pick a baby doll!", "Pick a baby doll Zion!"
[Fantasia laughs] [audience laughs] Ellen: Well, I don't
know how you felt but when I saw... the... you know... 'cause I watch
the show all the time and I watched every year... when I saw you
audition... I... and I hadn't seen everybody... I picked you immediately
and I said "that girl's gonna to win" She's got personality, she's got
charisma, she's got... you're just special. you're just really
special. Fantasia: awww.... Elllleeeennn [Fantasia playfully
protesting] Ellen: yeah? [audience laughs] seriously..
Fantasia: you're making me show all 500 of my teeth now!
[audience laughs claps] Ellen: that's a good thing. that's a
good smile ya have. yeah. and so now what. were you? did you think you
were going to win? 'cause I know it was really tough at the end with
Diana getting so close and... Fantasia: You know what, I was
nervous, cause you never you know, um, I was really nervous. You see how
I jumped when Ryan called my name. I broke the heel on my favorite pair
of shoes! [Fantasia pouts] [audience laughs claps] because I was
like... Ohhh... he said my name... he said my name... Ellen:
Yeah Fantasia: But um, I was so nervous but I was happy and
when he said it I just said to myself... "I made it... I made it... I
made it... [Fantasia claps] Ellen: Yeah, well you did make it
and you deserve it... and it was, you know, by, what a million votes or
something like that? Fantasia: I don't even know, they didn't
tell me... Ellen: Yeah, someone told me it was over a million
votes. it was. that was. it's a lot. and that's a big deal, so people
love you... people... Fantasia: and I'm happy people like me
for being me. [audience applause's] Fantasia: You know
you remind me a lot of me Ellen Ellen: Oh really? Why is that?
Fantasia: Yeah, you get out here... you get to bo-bo-ing and
you... you stole my dance. Ellen: You know what I have a
feeling that I did 'cause I heard that this bo-bo thing you're talking
about... I thought you meant... first of all that bounce thing that you
start doing when you start getting into the song and you start bouncing?
Fantasia: Naw Ellen: I liked it, but that's not the
bo-bo... the bo-bo is the thing that I do all the time...
Fantasia: Yeah, I seen you... Ellen's been doing the bo-bo
Ellen: Yeah Fantasia: and you actually do it better than me.
Ellen: no, no, no... [audience laughs]
Fantasia: Yeah you do Ellen: I doubt... I don't think... I
don't... I beg to differ on the bo-bo Fantasia: [laughs]
Ellen: um, now, so speaking of... that you broke your heel on your
favorite shoe. When are you gonna start spending... What's the first
thing you're going to do with the money? Fantasia: I want to
bless my mom because she's been there for me [audience applause's] I
gotta bless my mom, um... I don't know I go to Target now and I go and
they open it... I don't leave until they close. [audience laughs]
Ellen: Uh huh [audience laughs] Fantasia: and
somebody said, well why you at Target? and um like Hey, Target is the
Store. We call it Tar-Jay now. Riiight Target?? [audience
applause's] Ellen: Yep... now you don't have to worry, you
just walk around with a big ole cart and... Fantasia: two
carts... um like [audience laughs] Ellen: two carts?...
now and so what does Zion think of all this stuff? Fantasia:
um, she's spoiled now. Ellen: Yeah Fantasia: um, and
I actually laugh, I think about it, I'm like hey man there were times
when I wanted to get her things for Christmas and I couldn't even do it
and now... un like... shoot Santa Claus gonna bring us a lotttaaa stuff
(Ellen: Yeah) for this Christmas, Zion... cause she doesn't know she
just listens like... why is everybody around?... why is everybody taking
pictures?.. but I'm just happy now that I can take care of my own.
Ellen: yeah.. well, I'm happy for you. I'm really, really happy for
you. Fantasia: Thanks Ellen... Ellen: you're just so
talented and I know it's been a long road for you and you deserve it.
I'm thrilled for you, and I'm so excited that you're gonna sing for us
next. [audience applause's] Fantasia: right, I'm not
going to break the heel on these shoes. Ellen: no, no, no...
those are some nice shoes... That's uh... Ohhh.... come on gurl...
[audience laughs and howls] [raised up leg shows Fantasia has on
what looks like high heeled snake skinned pumps made of different type
skins] Ellen: How uncomfortable is that?!... Put on some
tennis shoes! [audience laughs] Fantasia: I had on some
bedroom shoes. I was gonna come out with my bedroom shoes on.
Ellen: some bedroom shoes? what are those?... like slippers?
Fantasia: slippers, yeah... Ellen: Those would be shoes I'd
wear out.... alright... alright... so we're gonna take uh take a break
and when we come back... uh... Fantasia's gonna sing for us
