Hello Bev,
It is nice to have you here with us. I do like it here. Fun to read about Anne
books or movies. Or to exchange poems. I have one about the red sands of
Avonlea that I am going to put up for everyone to read. I will have it listed
soon.
I am going to get the Emily books and start to read them too. I can get Emily
on tv as I have a satellite and they come on at 6 pm here on Sundays. And then
on Wednsday I get Winds at my back. At 6 pm too.
Have nice day.

Hi Everyone! :)

Sorry to those who get this more than once...

I just got a surprise - a shock? :) I went to Sullivan Entertainment's
web page and they have updated it! I haven't checked all of it yet, but
everything is updated and I don't know if it has new info, but it does
mention the Anne movie, etc. I'm going back now to see if there's any
new info I haven't heard. Just thought some of you might be interested.
:)

Kindredly,

Thanks for the welcome Becky! And I loved the story

and I LOVED them!!!! I am going to read them again immediately, because
the first time that I did I raced through them to find out how they
developed, they were so interesting. I am a yankee so I don't get to see
the Emily of New Moon series (sad sigh), but I hope to hear a lot about
it by listening to you guys! kindredly, Laurin at kingfarm

Thankyou for the welcome Becky! and I enjoyed the story Nicole! I

so much. I'm going to read them again more slowly now, since the first
time that I read them I loved them so much I RACED through to find out
what was happening!!!!! I am a yankee and so I don't get to see the

Hello Tansy Patchers,
Here's a Emily story I wrote a while back. Thought it might be of
interest to the group :o)

                                    New Moon's Bride

It was a quiet evening at New Moon. Aunt Elizabeth and Aunt Laura
were out visiting a sick neighbor and Cousin Jimmy had just left to go
pick up some supplies in town.
Emily sat alone in the familiar old kitchen of New Moon with a plate
of leftovers. Aunt Laura could never leave the house without being sure
the "Child had something to eat." Emily didn't have much of a appetite
though, and the plate was left untouched.
She climbed the stairs to her dear little room, thankful for the
solitude of the quiet house where her mind could wonder freely and she
could sit quietly without someone worrying over her.
"The poor girl just hasn't been herself since... well, since that
awful day." Aunt Laura had said to Aunt Elizabeth only a few days
before. It was true. Something had changed in Emily after Ilse's ill
fated wedding day. Of course, the talk over the scandalous event had
long since faded into old news, and Ilse and Perry were now living
happily in Charlottetown, but Emily had come to realize that her life
would forever be haunted with the thoughts of what could have been.
Aunt Elizabeth was certain that Emily was working too hard again, that
the editors were asking too much of her. Aunt Laura got teary eyed every
time she saw Emily alone in the garden and allowed herself to realize
that there would be another old maid at New Moon. Cousin Jimmy said
nothing about the matter. Whether he knew or understood what was truly
in Emily's heart was uncertain. His only response to the subject of
Emily's change was a shaking of his head and a saddening of his eyes as
if he missed the young Emily that had come to them so long ago.
Life was not all dark for Emily. There were still days that were
bright and inspired and full of hope, but there was always something
deep in her heart that reminded her that life could never be the same
without Teddy.
She could still revel in her twilight walks under a new moon that cast
magic on the shadowy garden and lanes. She could still delight in the
whispering sound of the Wind Women onchilled Autumn evenings, but the
old thrill was not the same somehow, the wonder of those things had been
lost. Even the occasional visit's she made to see Ilse and Perry were
shadowed with the sense of change. No matter how much Emily longed for
it, it seemed life could never return to the way it used to be.
On a evening like this one, when the cool breeze rustled the leaves of
the Lombardies in the old garden and the taste of summer was in the air,
Emily found herself remembering so many things that others had long
forgotten with the passage of time. These memories were dear to her now,
they were like a close friend. They were happy memories, and though
Teddy was so far away from her, it made her smile to think of the times
they had spent together and the way they had been before so much had
changed.
She could remember the first time she went to the Tansy Patch with
Ilse, and the many times that followed, where she spent wonderful
afternoons of her childhood with a dark haired, bright eyed boy. Even
when they were children, Emily had known there was something special
about Frederick Kent, but it wasn't untill the night of the snow storm,
when her, Ilse, Perry, and Teddy spent the night at the Old John house,
that she knew she belonged to him. it was something she couldn't escape,
and it brought with it hours of comfort and happiness, and hours of
loneliness and regret. Even as she sat herenow, at her open window, she
let herself once again wonder what could have been had she gone to Teddy
the night he had called to her from Lofty John's bush.
She wished people didn't have to grow up and drift apart. She longed
for the sweet days of her childhood when she, Ilse, Perry, and Teddy had
been so close. A time before ambition and dreams caused them to change
and take seperate roads.
She wondered where Teddy was now, what he was doing and thinking, if
he was happy. She wondered if he could feel the love that made her think
of him often, if her could somehow sense that someone far away was
thinking of him at that moment.
The sun was fading now, leaving brilliant streaks of pink and orange
in the sky. Emily closed her eyes, the moment seeming full of the past
and old things she sodearly missed. She could see Teddy in her mind,
with his familiar old smile that had always made her heart lighten.
Then, suddenly, there came a soft call- two high notes and one long,
low one. Emily opened her eyes, all the color in her face from
remembering disappeared in an instant.
It couldn't be, she must be dreaming, or only wishing it so much that
she was hearing things. But no, it came again, and she knew it was real.
Teddy was waiting in Lofty John's bush; waiting for her.
Her heart sped as she left her room and went to the old garden, just
as she used to do so many years ago. But nothing had changed as Teddy
drew her close and their eyes met in understanding. And then something
happened to Emily that hadn't happend in a long time, the flash came to
her,a nd she realized that all the things she had so dearly missed had
been there waiting for her all along. She only needed to see the smile
on Teddy's face to know that nothing had changed.
They belonged to eachother once more, and everything was as it was
meant to be. Life would never seem empty or lonely for Emily again, and
New Moon would have a beautiful bride.

                                           THE END

Nicole of Forestedge

Well, I'm a little behind in my email, bacause this is when school really
kicks into gear, but I thought I'd respond to the post.

I'm 17, I live in Stockton, California and I'm a senior in high school. I read
a lot, I also do singing and acting and I run and workout sometimes. I like
the Emily of New Moon books, and I think Aunt Elizabeth is my favorite
character, mostly because of her name! Ha ha!

Becky, just got your message about the Tansy Patch Kids and I got a
small idea (i'll throw my two cense in:). What about Tansy Patch Dreams
(dreamers) or New Moon Dreams? Here's a few more: Name it after one of
the last books- Emily Questers or Emliy Climbers (i guess that sounds a
bit funny too:), Memories of New Moon, Jimmy's Book. Those were just a
few ideas I came up with while I was typing.
When I went to PEI two years ago, we visited LMM's cousin's house and
while we were there I saw a sign that said that the Emily books were
being made into a movie, and being filmed on Calbot Beach. At the time I
didn't know that it was going to be a series, but I was soooo excited!!
We spent the rest of that day at Calbot and I happend to notice a very
interesting house hugging the coatline. I told my parents, "That looks
like something directly out of a Emily book." Imagine my suprise when I
saw the same house in a PEI travel guide just recently with the
inscription, "The Disappointed House". That fit it so perfectly!!!!
Alas, my pictures of the house didn't turn out because it was too dark,
but I still have the picture of it in my mind, and the beautiful beach
that couldn't have been more Emilyish if Emily had been there her self!!

About a month ago, Rachel of Sunset Loft, mentioned on the Avonlea
Villagers list that while in Prince Edward Island someone told her
that Emily will be shown on the Disney Channel and PBS this December.
I wrote to Salter Street Films but received no reply about this. I
have written them twice - the first time they told me that they had
not found a broadcaster in the US yet, but they were working on it.

Well I had been watching "Winds at my back" and it was not on very

Have you joined the Wind at My Back list? :) I just joined it and
maybe someone on the list could answer this question. It's a great
show - it would be nice to see it in the US! :)

Welcome to Rachel of Sunset Loft! :)

Oh that's neat! :) It's fun having pets named after LMM's characters.
It's fun how so often they fit their names too. My cat Emily used to
look at herself in the mirror (Emily in the glass :) ) and also knows
the Murray look. <g> Jimmy is sweet, but gets this puzzled expression

My mother and I were talking about names again - I'd love to find a
cute name - something that's catchy. I guess Tansy Patchers may sound
a little strange, but I just got another suggestion from a member,
that is pretty cute. :) Tansy Patch Kids... I know we are not all
"kids", but we're all kids at heart. Maybe we could go by that...It's
not that a name is so very important anyway, I just thought it would
be fun to have a name from the beginning.

got him and decided to name him after one of my favorite characters.
I like the name Tansy Patch, but Tansy Patchers sound a bit funny to
me (my opinion only :)
I have not seen the Emily series on t.v., but have heard that it will
be coming to PBS and the Disney channel this December. Lets keep our
fingers crossed!!
My favorite book characters are #1 emily and a close second Teddy and
Cousin Jimmy. The only people I dislike in the books are the bickering
relatives who fight over who should take Emily. They claim they take
care of their own and see it as a sense of duty, but they sure are
resentful about it all !
I keep a jimmy book (journal) and have written a letter to myself to
be opened on (I think) my 26th birthday. Have any of you written letters
to yourself?
I enjoy writing and mentioned to my home room teacher last year that
I typed my stories up on disk. I loaned her my Emily series and she
loved them so much that for my birthday she sent me a couple "Jimmy
Disks" !! It was a very special gift!
I have written a story about Emily and will type it here when I get a
chance if you'd all like to hear it.
Hope to hear from you all soon!!
Sincerely,
Nicole of Forestedge

Hello Emily Fans! :)

First I wanted to welcome our newest member, Catherine! :) Now we are
up to 8 members! This is so much fun!

I keep getting neat suggestions for things to call our list. :)

Some have been cute, a few have been funny. One friend suggested Emily
Posts....another suggested Pandora's Box (they changed Emily's cats
name to Pandora in the tv show and although it would possibly be
funny, I don't think it would work <g>) Someone else mentioned "Tansy
Patchers." Does anyone like that name? I want to find a name that
everyone would like. :) The first two suggestions for names could be
cute too but as my mother mentioned we should probably use a name that
both girls and guys would like...etc.

The next paragraph is about the Emily tv series. There could be a few

I have seen the first season of Emily and I really enjoyed it. :) It
is different from the books in some ways, but several episodes are
very LMMy. :) I'm not sure if many of you have seen the series...My
favorite characters are Emily and Cousin Jimmy. :) Martha MacIsaac is
Emily to me now. I love the friendship between Emily and Jimmy. Aunt
Elizabeth drives me crazy...but she is so good at making you dislike
her. I will miss her character in the second season of the show! I'm
hoping she will return in the third season. I like Aunt Laura a lot
too. I didn't think I'd like her b/c she didn't seem very Aunt
Laura-ish when she guest starred in Avonlea, but she is sweet and a
lot as I had pictured Laura to be. I'm very interested in her romance
with Ian Bowles and Dr. Burnley. I also like Perry and Teddy and Ilse.
Actually there are not many characters that I dislike, except perhaps
Miss Brownell! My favorite episode is "The Enchanted Doll" which
really did not have much to do with the books but was still a fun
episode. I also like "The Wild Rover" and "A Child Shall Lead Them".
These seemed to be two of the most LMMy episodes. It was interesting
to see Mr. Carpenter introduced and then in the latter episode to see
the story of Ilse's mother, Beatrice Burnley.

Maybe when we get more members we could discuss one episode each week.
I know the new season starts soon (October 4th.) but it would be fun
to discuss the first season also. I'm hoping the show will come to the
US soon so more of us can see it. Maybe someday! :)

If you have seen the show, who are your favorite characters? Favorite
episodes? :)

In the books, my favorites are the same as in the tv show. I love all
3 books, but my favorite is Emily of New Moon. My favorite characters
are again Cousin Jimmy, Emily, and Teddy. :)

I agree, it would be fun to discuss a book of the month or something.
What is your favorite Emily book?

Nicole - I too love cats! I have 3 and a dog. Emily Byrd Starr, Cousin
Jimmy P.Murray, (he thinks he is a poet. ;-) ) and Teddy Kent. :) The
dog is Lucy Maud Pupcake. Hmmm...wonder where we thought of those
names?! :)

Do many of you have Jimmy books? (journals?) I love writing in Jimmy
books. :) I've been writing in them for about 10 years. :) (Since I
was 13 or 14)

Miss Hetty (I like your handle) I too love both Avonlea and the movie
Lantern Hill. I'm also looking forward to the new Avonlea and Anne
movies! I'm so happy that so many of Montgomery's works are being made
into movies and tv series! :) Yes, it would be fun to mention our
favorite parts in LMM's books. It was interesting that you mentioned
Burnsville because I live only an hour away from Burnsville, NC. :)

Hope you all have a great day! :)

Kindredly,
Becky of Rainbow Cottage

I love the sea most when the wind is calm...Like it was the day I found Teddy
Kent sketching by the shore. People thought he was strange, always off by
himself. But I didn't think he was strange. I thought he was the handsomest boy
in Blair Water.

Dear Emily fans,

I just joined the list and am interested in what we are going to be
called. Since I'm the grandma of the list I think of all the bad things
that could happen concerning names. I was talking to my daughter, Becky
about the names and she said a friend mentioned that future male members
of the list might not like to be called Starrlings. Then the word Moon
sometimes has bad connotations so New Mooners might not work either.
We've gotten several ideas which Becky will mention in a post soon. (She
says she will send a post Wednesday and mention the other possibilities)
The Emily books and the tv series are both special beyond words. I know
we'll come up with a good name. I'm really looking forward to talking
about my favorite things concerning Emily and reading everyone else's
posts about theirs.

Elizabeth, when Becky said you were here I decided to go right ahead and
join cause I knew we'd all have so much fun together.

I'm so glad Becky decided to create this list.

See you soon.

Hello Nicole,
I am glad that you have joined with us here on Emily of New Moon. I just love
this. It is so fun. I enjoy anything about LMM books. And I too am like you
cannot find any other books that is better than books by LMM. I have a lot of
them. I can get the Emily of New Moon on CBC TV. I have a satellite that is
how I get it.
I have Jane of Lantern hill too. A very good movie.
Well, just wanted to welcome you here. And yes I think it would be a good
topic for every one to talk about short stores or poems or just talk about a
book or a chapter in a book by LMM. So everyone lets say bit about out
favorite chapters in our favorite books. Mine is where Katharine "spelled with
a K" goes with Anne to PEI to spend summer holiday there I think its in Anne
of the Island. If I am wrong someone correct me. Thanks

Well have good day
Mary aka MissHetty

Hello new mooners!
Becky sugested we say something about ourselves so here goes.
I am 19 years old and live in Ohio. I love the Emily books more than
anyother series I have ever read (and I have read a lot since I love to
read!). I love to write :) and hope to become a published author some
day. I have all ready written a book and am working on many more! This is
why I like Emily so much, or rather, one of the many reasons why. LMM's
books inspired me to start writing, and I've been writing ever since.
>I love cats (have 4) and enjoy spending time outside with nature,
especially in the woods! I have not seen the Emily series on tv, but the
show is going to be coming to the US before the new year hopefully!!
I have a suggestion to make for our little group. Other groups have
book discussions or character discussions. Why don't we do the same
thing, and more! How about a monthly topic poem or short story. And of
course, those of you who live in Canade or elsewhere can discuss the
t.v. series.
Kindredly,
                Nicole of Forestedge

Hi all,
I am new at this Emily e mailing. I think that it is a wonderful that we can
talk about Emily or any of Lucy Maud Montgomerys books. I have over 30 of
them. I can get Emily of New Moon by satellite. A very good show. I am looking
forward to seeing the new Anne movies this Christmas and the one with Hetty
King reunion. As you can tell I am a very big fan of Hetty King with my
screename being Hetty King. Anyone wanting to write me and talk about Avonlea
or any thing is welcome to write.

Hi! I wrote the following this morning! :) I didn't have a chance to
mail it though - now we are 6! :) Thanks Elizabeth and Nicole for
posting! It's going to be fun talking to Emily fans. (New Mooners? :)
) Well, here's the post I wrote earlier...

Hello!! :)

Thank you for posting this morning Nicole!! :) It was so neat to check
my mail and have an Emily post already! :) There are four of us so
far! I'm really looking forward to discussing Emily with other Emily
fans.

Maybe we could all write a little intro about ourselves?

I'm 23 and live in North Carolina. I love reading, cats, crafts, long
letters, meeting kindred spirits, and much more! :)

I love the Emily books best of L.M. Montgomery's books. They have been
my favorites since I first read Emily of New Moon in the third grade.
I would love to hear about your favorite characters, which book you
like best, etc.

I also like the tv series based on the books. I would love to hear
anyone's opinions on the show if you have seen it. I'll write about my
favorite characters, episodes in my next post.

If anyone has any suggestions about this list please let me know. :)
(if you want the archives to be public or private...or if you have any
suggestions on a name for the list, (like on the Kindred Spirits and
Roadies aka Avonlea Villagers list.) What about the name Starrlings?
(I've always thought it was cute that Cousin Jimmy calls Emily little
Starling in the tv series). Any ideas? :)

(later... as Elizabeth said New Mooners would be fine too. :) )

Thanks again for joining! I hope you all have a wonderful day! "It
will be a nice day if it don't rain." (Perry Miller)

Kindredly,
Becky of Rainbow Cottage

Dear New Mooners (how does that sound!?)

I saw Becky's post on the KS list and I like the Emily of New Moon books a
lot, even if I haven't seen the TV show. I think this list looks like fun!
