DTV conversion was a pain but it did bring one nice thing:  Emily of New Moon.
With DTV came "THIS TV" (channel 5.2 in Los Angeles but TV has to be on 3, like
cable; channels are selected via the converter box).  Emily airs every weekday
at 6:00 a.m.

I will soon have to miss the last two weeks' worth of Emily.  Recording the
programs is not an option b/c DTV signal is unreliable.

Does anyone know whether THIS TV (or anybody else--are you listening, PBS?) will
rebroadcast the series?  And when?

Or does anyone know whether Comcast in Seattle carries the program?  Family
there could record for me. Calling Comcast is also on my hunt-'em-down list.

If I have to miss these programs, a batch of you will have to present yourselves
as holograms to act out the plots for me--like those kids in the TV commercial!

Thanks, Watchers
E on the Run

Hello Group,
I recently found Emily in the digital chennel 3 of channel 27 out of
Madison, WI. Sure it nice to be able to watch again. She's on at 89:00 AM till 9
every weekday. They call the network THIS TV. I don't know if it's on anywhere
else, but if you can get WKOW its the no 3 digital channel from there.
I am a 65 year old retired guy and used to get all the shjows on the old big
dish before they scrambled CBC. There were some great shows on there. Someooone
mentioned Pit Pony, I remember that it was great too. I also liked Black Harbor
and North of 60. I hated it when they scrambled their broadcasts. But that's
progress, NOT. Kirk

I've actually been a member for a while but I don't remember if I've actually
posted anything, I may have when I first joined. I've recently found out that
the Emily of New Moon show is on a channel called This PDX in Portland (dunno if
there's an equivalent channel in other states), so I've started watching it,
since the Emily series is my favorite out of all the LM Montgomery novels (and
I've read them all, if you don't count the short story collections). I've seen
about half a dozen episodes so far and some things are kind of puzzling me...
it's probably because I've likely jumped in in the middle of a season, so I
apologise if these are things that everyone else knows.

Kind of a weird one but... what kind of accent does Perry have?

Why is Aunt Elizabeth dead? Did she die in an early episode or was she dead
from the beginning?

Is it just me, or does Ilse seem much more... timid than she does in the books?
She's still kind of tomboy-ish, but the temper doesn't seem to be there--at
least, she and Emily haven't fought in the episodes I've seen. I like the Ilse
of the books much better (in fact she's my favorite literary character). And
this is just a minor nitpick, but I don't like that TV!Ilse has long hair.

I think there was one other question that I had but I don't remember it... if I
think of it I'll post it later.

Extremely happy to hear about the season 2 DVD...my parents watched the first
dvd and mom was sad to hear they hadn't released 2-4 on DVD...they had watched
Anne of GG, Road to Avonlea, and were looking for something else to watch. Our
Borders was getting rid of most of their DVDs and I found this for $15...and
that was BEFORE the 50% off! Thanks for the news!!

Thank you so much for the information about making videos clips from Emily. I
haven't had a chance to look into it... I do have the dvds though. I wish I
already knew how to convert the dvds to avi format, because if I did, I'd be
able to make clips easily with a program I have. I'll try to check the programs
you mentioned though and see if I can figure them out. :) If I don't have any
luck, I do have a couple of episodes on cd...and they are avi files...
transfered to cd from a tape, so the quality isn't as good as the new dvds, but
it would still work to show a few clips from the series. What do people want to
see most in clips? (If you haven't see the series) Scenery... certain
characters... ???

Kindredly,
Becky

can find it on google and there are guides available that will show you

There are some free trial programs available that will only do 50% of

the file or leave a watermark. A program that I like to use is called

Auto Gordian Knot. It does a good job of creating AVI files. Another

program that's good is Nero Recode. It lets you convert your DVD files

to MPEG and lets you trim them and set the dimensions that you want. If

you would rather have AVI files, then you can take the ones you created

with Auto Gordian Knot and use a program to trim them. A good one to

use is VirtualDubMod. That's all you need to know for creating video

clips. Have fun!

I am trying to clear out some of my stash and have the following up for grabs.
I will post anywhere as I want to find a good home for the following:

EMILY OF NEW MOON VHS tapes

Episodes 3, 4 and 7 through 13 of Season 1
All are in good condition. I bought them but havn't watched them as I got a full
set
subsequently on ebay. Episodes 12 and 13 are still shrink wrapped.
I know there is a dvd but it is Region 1 only so the VHS would be suitable for
fans outside N
America. MY own set plays fine on my UK VCR

AVONLEA TRADITIONS CHRONICLES

Issues 14 through 24, 28 and 29.
All in good condition

I will be posting from Ireland

yes computer7772002,
I have much of the first season that i can offer you. I have the entire set
except for episodes 1, 2, 5 and 6 on VHS which i will send to you, as i am
trying to de-clutter. some tapes have never been used and are still in
shrink wrap. the rest are also in good condition. i havent used them, hence
the de-cluttering. i got most of mine on ebay so i am sure you could get the
missing one that way.

email me at juliacrimmins@... if you are interested

Hi,
I know that the first season is now on DVD, but it is the first episode of the
second season that I am looking for. I've put alot of time and money into trying
to make "my own" dvd set, as I thought the show would never be released. Now
that it has been released, I kind of hate to toss aside all the work I've done
in finding all the episodes, especially when I only need one more....

So if anyone does have that episode, "Summer of Sorrows", please let me know.

Thanks!!

Val and others,

The first season of "Emily" WAS officially released on dvd. On the
9th of september to be exact. It can be ordered on any major online
book/dvd retailer (ie ebay, amazon, etc.). I recommend buying the
official dvd rather than something else because increased sales will
likely bring us the other seasons too!! Hope this helps,

Nick

I've managed to track down every Emily of New Moon episode, except for
one. It's the first episode of the second season, titled "Summer of
Sorrows."

Does anyone have this episode? I would love to work out a deal if you
have it, it's the last one I need to complete the series.

Thanks a million!

No, they didn't say... :( I was wondering about that
too... I hope they'll make it available so everyone
can watch it. If I find anything new out I'll let the
group know. :) So far there isn't much info available.

Hi!

I wrote to the company thanking them for releasing
season 1 and got this reply!

"We are also excited about the release of this series,
and although the subsequent seasons have not yet been
scheduled for release, they are coming! Watch for
them in 2009."

Wouldn't that be wonderful!?! I really hope season 1
sells well so later seasons will come out in 2009.

Yay!!!

Dear Nick and other members,

It is 46 episodes recorded on VHS distinctly during its appearance on TV then
recorded on 25 DVDs, each DVD includes 2 episodes and each episode is about 60
minutes, Said my cousin.
For your information: my cousin is a movie maniac, he records almost everything
on VHS, and I saw his collection last week accidentally, so I thought maybe this
group wants it too.
NOTE1: this collection is not officially released.
NOTE2: If you are eager to have this collection, send an email to my cousin
George, mshoak@... and ask him, I myself can¢t do anything for you, cause
I¢m only 15 and really don¢t know what to do ;-)

Yours truly,
ARSH
