A plaque in memory of actress Wendy Richard will be unveiled at a London pub
which her parents used to run.

The actress, best known for her roles in the soap opera EastEnders and
department store sitcom Are You Being Served?, died in February after a long
battle with cancer.

Her parents Henry and Beatrice Emerton, were landlord and landlady at the
Shepherds Tavern, in Shepherd Market, Mayfair, when the actress was a child.

The actress - who used the stage surname Richard - went to a local primary
school.

Richard, who was 65 when she died, played Pauline Fowler in EastEnders for
21 years but was already well known for the more glamorous role of Miss
Brahms in Are You Being Served?

Some of Richard's former co-stars are expected to attend Sunday's plaque
unveiling, including James Alexandrou who played her younger son, Martin.

David Croft, who created Are You Being Served?, is also on the guest list.
