Hi guys,
My organization, GLAAD, is hosting an event at Marc Cherry's southern California
home with
the cast of Desperate Housewives on September 30th. It's an opportunity to mix
and mingle
with the cast over cocktails and dinner. GLAAD stands for the Gay & Lesbian
Alliance Against
Defamation, and our mission is to change people's hearts and minds about gay and
lesbian
people and families through fair, accurate and inclusive representations of our
community in
the media.
Check out more information about the event at www.glaad.org/desperatehousewives
Also, below is some info from a press release we put out yesterday. I hope this
is of interest
to you or someone you know!
GLAAD is honored to collaborate with Desperate Housewives Creator and Executive
Producer
Marc Cherry to support GLAAD's new Youth Empowerment Media Program. Marc will
host a
fundraising event at his beautiful home in Toluca Lake, Calif. The evening will
feature special
entertainment, a full top-shelf bar, buffet dinner and champagne dessert. With
the cast of
Desperate Housewives slated to attend — as well as some special appearances by
celebrity
guests and the series' supporting actors— this promises to be an exciting and
meaningful
evening!

More than 25 million people know
that Desperate Housewives, the biggest
show to hit television in years, is not just entertaining and fun, it is smart
and just plain good. In a time when quality television is hard to come by and
reality TV has a monopoly on the airwaves, Desperate
Housewives exploded out of nowhere.
WELCOME
TO WISTERIA LANE is what every fan desperately needs. It celebrates
the brilliance of ABC's Desperate
Housewives, and it answers
the question: why on earth is this show so special? With thoughtful essays and
hilarious insights, WELCOME TO WISTERIA
LANE tells us just why so many people tune in every Sunday and talk about
nothing else every Monday morning.
From
how Desperate Housewives reflects the
truth about friendship to how suburban living is hazardous to your health, from
hating Lynette to why men love this show, WELCOME
TO WISTERIA LANE has something for every Desperate fan.
Topics Include:
Is Julie Mayer destined to become Bree Van De
Kamp? Beth Kendrick examines
the parenting styles on Wisteria
Lane and thinks it just may be inevitable

Carlyle compares American viewers to European ones,
and comes away with the reason Susan, Bree, Lynette, Gabby and Edie are so
popular in translation
Television Without Pity's Evany Thomas compares Desperate
Housewives to its obvious sister-in-arms programs: Sex and the City but also…The Golden Girls?
Michelle Cunnah shows why Susan Mayer is the
best friend a housewife could ever have

to find an explanation for Desperate
Housewives' deliciously dark comic undertones
Hey – just wanted to let everyone know that the James Denton

I am *****SO***** mad and disappointed at Gabby. She only agreed to
the baby just for Carlos! Now she's dumping the baby off on the maid
all the time and then "pretending" to be bonding with the baby right
when Carlos comes home!! God, what a phoney she is! I wish Carlos
had come home and found the baby alone!!! Gabby is too deceitful to
Carlos, and this is probably only the beginning....wait till Carlos
finds out the truth!

This episode rocked, it totally rocked!
Why does Betty Applewhite (and her son) keep Caleb, a passive, quiet
guy locked up in the basement like that? He seems harmless and
obviously he was being hunted by some bad guy, but really Caleb seems
to be ok. As far as we know he is Betty's son. Hmmm. Weird.
Carlos has a crush on Lynette, he met up with her and acted like a shy
schoolboy who almost asked Lynette if he could have an affair with
her. I could tell that planted a seed in Lynette's mind, but nah, I
doubt it, but wouldn't be surprised, ya know?
Susan, always a stumbling dum-dum. Believing that Zach has changed,
I still think he's dangerous and Susan's daughter should stay away
from him. Teenagers! I just get the feeling that Susan's daughter
(forgot her name at the moment) will run away with Zach.
Bree. Have you noticed how much boozing Bree is doing lately? It's
so weird to have the most tightly-laced, pulled-together character on
this show crawling into the bottle! As for Andrew being pushed up
against the wall by Bree's lawyer friend, the guy should have put
Andrew's head thru the wall and slapped him across the face, but
that's me. I doubt it would take the wind out of Andrew's sails, tho.
Wisteria Lane has itself 2 dangerous little boys, Andrew and Zach.

I'm liking DH's storyline and not liking some of it.
I feel bad for Gaby. Carlos is obviously in love with "Sister Mary."
Carlos treats Gaby like she's nothing but a materialistic annoyance.
Gaby has to realize that it's not Sister Mary she is up against,
it's Carlos. Sure, Sister Mary is to blame of course. No nun in
their right mind would be so un-Christian as to break up a marriage
while hiding behind religion.
Bree. Poor Bree. In order to get a little closer with her rotten
son, she gives him a ton of information implicating herself in
George's death, that she knew what happened and let him die. And Bree
thought George was bad, just wait.
The storyline I am not interested in is the Susan and Lynette
storylines. I'm not interested in Susan finding her father. It
turned out to be a big disappointment. And the situation with Lynette
setting up at-work daycare---biiiiiiig deal!!! How uninteresting is
that?
I can't sink my teeth into those 2 storylines, they are just awful and
totally lame.
Until next week.
Simone
DH loses one creep, George and replaces George with "the nun." Gaby
said to Carlos that the nun was "HOT" but to me that nun looked like
a guy (NOT hot!). That "nun" is a real creep, I wonder who will
stand up to her--Carlos? So far Gaby's not intimidated! I got a
good laugh seeing Carlos praying by their bed! Poor Gaby!!! It's a
shame she's not pregnant anymore, that would shut up that nun about
having Carlos & Gaby's marriage "annulled." But isn't an annulled
marriage a marriage that has never been consummated?
And Bree. She finally breaks down about the death/murder of her
husband Rex, that was sad, she was all alone in an elevator, of all
places. George should have never tried to implicate Bree otherwise
she really would have gotten that no-good bum an ambulance.
Funny to see Susan finally stand up and face someone (her dad).
Lately Susan backs down to everybody!
Poor Lynette! Her former boss, the bitch, was actually the buffer
between the company owner and the rest of the staff. Interesting.
Well, Lynnette, it's not the only job in the world!

What to watch on Sunday nights now that DH is over?! Heard some

I liked the season finale because I didn't expect to have a mystery
being it a satire dark comedy night soap. Don't expect it to make me
think or have me say well I expected that - I like it because it is
different and a bit outrageous - like the 1970s "Soap"! It is what I
expect from the show. If it was designed to be a mystery, family
drama, or science fiction well then my expections would be different
and probably higher!!!
I enjoy the show for what it is a "Satire Dark Comedy Night Soap"
nothing more - nothing less....

Well, I was surprised they killed off Rex and it looks like Bree is in
some hot water for Season II of DH. Unless Rex is staging his death
to see if Bree was trying to kill him. I thought it was strange that
the Doctor would tell Rex about the possibly of Bree trying to kill
him before his operation and just having a heart attack - didn't he
realize it would upset him.
I really think the actress who plays Bree is exceptionally good the
best of all the Desperate Housewives.
I am glad Lynette will be going back to work in Season II and her
husband will be a house-husband that will be interesting - I thought
her talents were wasted with spoiling all those bad mischievous
boys!!! Lynette is really something too killing her husband's
promotion she is lucky he is staying with her.
Gabriel is in really hot water too when hubby gets out of jail as well
as her teenage lover-boy, John.
I thought it was great with the flash-back in the beginning of the
episode with Mary-Alice getting baby Dana-Zack but gruesome with the
knifing. I hope Zack doesn't kill Mike considering he is probably his
father. I like to see more flash-backs of Mary-Alice's life in Season
II of DH.
I like to see some flash-backs of Carlos' mom too - I like her she was
funny on the show!!!
I wonder if Paul will die of starvation out where Mike abandoned him.
I hope Martha's sister survives I like her she has spunk!!!
I was thinking they didn't have a African American family in Desperate
Housewives - it looks like they have some secrets they are hiding and
will be an interesting addition for Season II of DH.
