as posted on Gatecon:

Gatecon 2010 will be the final convention
After 10 fantastic conventions, the owners of Gatecon have just announced that
Gatecon 2010, to be held at the Wall Center, Vancouver, Canada from July 8-11
2010 will be the last convention in it's current form.

Going out with a BANG !
We are dedicated to making Gatecon 2010 the ultimate send-off, and have already
27 guests from Stargate SG-1, Atlantis and Universe (plus some non-SG special
guests), and are already in contact with more. But it does come down to a pure
fact... The more tickets we sell, the more guests we can add.

We would love to share our final Gatecon with as many of you as possible. It has
been the organisers' love of Stargate that has driven us to share the Stargate
experience with you all, and we everyone to be a part of our final farewell.

Laptop Giveaway
Gatecon is giving away 2 state-of-the-art Laptop computers in a lucky draw for
attendees who purchase their ticket to Gatecon before December 31, 2009.

We want to make sure you get the most up-to-date technology, so we aren't even
going to mention anything about specs right now. The laptops will be the latest
models and technology in July 2010.

The lucky draw will take place on-stage at Gatecon 2010.

Ticket holders who have purchased their tickets before this announcement have
already been entered into the draw.

Legendary Gathering
As you may have heard, the organisers of The Legendary Gathering have had to
call off their event at Gatecon. We are extremely sad to see the event a
non-starter, and have tried to offer other options to the LG organisers so their
even could continue one way or another. Unfortunately in the end they have had
to decline our offers, but we still hope to contact as many of the LG guests as
possible and make sure they are very welcome at Gatecon, as are the organisers
and people who wanted to attend the LG event.

Banquet Add-ons
There have been some who did not originally purchase the banquet option with
their original ticket purchase, and have asked how they can add it on. In the
next day or so, there will be the option to add the banquet to your existing
ticket in the Gatecon members area.

Ticket Numbers
The time is here, and ticket numbers are now being assigned. In about 48 hours
time, you will be able to view your ticket confirmation in the Gatecon members
area, complete with your ticket number.

I wish we could donate, and come, but we are going to San Francisco then Vallejo. Jules hasn't had a vacation since Gatecon 2004, and as you all know I've been up to Vangroovy 2 more times. We are using this time for 3 things, first to take Dad's ashes to where Mom's are, second my second youngest sister is getting married, third I wasn't to show Jules my second favorite city, I'm thrilled for my sister, despite Dad dying she is happy and Eddie treats very well. he even flew her up here in August to spend some time with me. They bought their first home and moved in last week. I can't wait too see it, a 4,000 sq ft on a golf course in Vallejo. I can't tell you how much it means to me that 2 of my sisters have found love. There will be no nieces or nephews tho,  as none of us want kids that aren't the 4 legged kind *g*

Anyway got off track there, but I am still thinking about Gatecon 2011!

Heya all,
For those asking and those who will eventually ask.
Basically it is the "logistics" to make an event. This includes costs of
putting on a show. Now, Gatecon has been doing back flips to help and I cannot
– I will not - ask them for more.

We would need to increase the entry fee and while I have already done that – and
thanks to those who replied and indicated it was still doable. But given the
current knowledge, it is not enough to sustain all that we need to do. We need
to ensure we have a large audience and right now the indicators are not on the
same page as a sell out or even half that. The food is a major factor if we
want to do this right – meaning not pretzels. The stuff we need to get to cover
registration, room set-up, and decorating according to the chosen theme, and the
list goes on.

So looking for anyone who has recently won a big lottery – that would help a
lot.

In the meantime, in fairness to our guests and the fans – I had to be honest
with myself and what we were hoping to do. I also need to be fair to Gatecon –
they have put up a significant investment in sponsoring the Legendary Gathering
event and – a decision to cancel needs to be made now not later when they would
lose that. Something I will not do to them or anyone. In fact, in
communicating with Gatecon, they asked how they could help. And, from my point
of view, there is nothing else I can ask them for. Remember, they have a show
to put on as well and for 3 days.

So…the bottom line is I am not ready to make a personal major investment to make
this happen. I will NOT ask anyone else to do this – not the LGers, not
Gategoers, not Dan Payne (thanks for the offer Dan) or his fans, and not Gatecon
– well, with the exception of a big lottery winner within these groupings.

There are 249 days until the Gatecon Weekend, and I am looking forward to
chilling and enjoying it with you all including some visits to the bar
(seriously – our Phoenix drink is primo!), and whatever I can do to help Gatecon
with their production.

249 days and counting down….see you there.

Thanks to all of you for your support and interest for the Legendary Gathering 2010 Mini-Con as we were planning it. That is half the fun to interact with potential guests and all the fans in the time leading up to the actual event.

I want to again thank Gatecon for the generous and tremendous show of support to sponsor LG.

That said, I am sorry to announce that after a great deal of thought and review, we – LG - find there are a number of logistics that we are not able to meet, complete, and/or control in spite of the Gatecon sponsorship. So as a result, we have no choice but to cancel LG2010.

However, there are 250 days until July 8 – 11, 2010 when Gatecon will be happening. And, we are looking forward to meeting up with you all at Gatecon.

And, please remember that StephyK is planning some possible surprises with a picnic and/or dinner after Gatecon was over.

Thanks again for your interest in LG.

Hello everyone, was just checking IMDB and figured I'd update everyone on what's
coming up for Dan. These aren't out yet...

Blood: Butcher's Block (2009) (VG) (announced) .... Viktor Revik
The Cabin in the Woods (2011) (post-production) .... Mathew Buckner
Prepped (2010) (TV) (post-production) .... Coach
Icarus (2010) (post-production) .... Dave
Blood: A Butcher's Tale (2009) (post-production) .... Victor
Smile of April (2009) (completed) .... Adrian
Charlie (2009/II) (completed) .... Sally

These are out on DVD.

Dan plays Sergei in "Driven to Kill" (2009) starring Steven Seagal.

This is a short mockumentary style film that was shot during the filming of
Watchmen. It is an extra on the DVD of "Tales of the Black Freighter" (and
presumingly will be on the upcoming special edition of "Watchmen"). It's called,
Under the Hood (2009) Dan of course is Dollar Bill. It can also be found as,
"The Culpeper Minute: Under the Hood" (UK: long title).

That's about it. Dan if you read this and have any info on them please let us
know. Thanks, Kim

I may have to get a ticket for that, knowing that he will be there. I have been
having discussions with him over at Gateworld so I wouldn't mind actually
meeting him. Especially since I am actually into the stunt stuff that he does
and really enjoy his work.

Finally getting our act together, I now have the software and am having trouble
getting it to work properly - and, to make the credit card connections. But
since we are finally many steps closer to ticket sales, I can announce where we
are and also to advise all of some event factors.

1. New LG Ticket Price: $45.00 USD.
Tickets cannot be $39 USD as originally announced. Based on the factors listed
here, the ticket price for LG is $45.00 US. I hope this is not too big a
change. We have tried to keep prices as modest as possible and are only able to
do that because of the Gatecon support.

I am sorry and apologize for being short sighted in forgetting the known
increase in the hotel catering for the food for our cocktail party. This is an
across the board 8% plus the related increases in GST/PST (taxes). Another
short sight was forgetting that there are processing fees involved with credit
card or any type of payment mechanism.

2. We have to limit the number of tickets we can sell at 200. We cannot exceed
the fire rating of the room. In fact this room may be too big, but it is what
was available and unless I am mistaken, we wanted to party and needed space to
swing a sword, hear exciting guest escapades, scarf up some food, and wiggle
some dance steps. So, this is what we have.

3. Please help GC help LG. As you know GC is sponsoring the LG event. Because
we are an "add on" event, and GC wanted to accommodate us, they had to make a
special arrangement. However, in order to fully capitalize on that, we need to
have more hotel room nights booked. So LG really put an extra burden on GC and
I am reaching out to ask if you all can help us with this.

Please, if you can see your way clear to staying at the Sheraton, it helps our
overall situation. I personally have booked from the Sunday prior through the
end of GC and can tell you a number of others have done the same in order to
prepare for the LG event.

I will be the first to state this is not a cheap rate, but to be honest after
seeing the 2010 rates for Dragon Con and some others, the $199.00 CAD is not so
bad in comparison and for a nice room in a great location (Vangroovey). I
personally like the comfort and convenience of being in the venue hotel and some
of the higher end amenities. And, high-speed Internet is included with each
room.

4. We will advise as soon as we can get the shopping cart working securely and
properly. Again, I apologize for the delay. Better safe than sorry or I know I
will be hearing from you all.

5. The standard: As with all other conventions, tickets are non-refundable.
Should you need to sell, we need email from the original ticket holder advising
of the sale/transfer plus name and email address of the buyer.

6. The standard: Should the event be cancelled, refunds will be made less the
cost of purchase and refund processing fees.

7. The standard: No refunds will be made based on a guest's inability to
appear. Our announcements and notices have stated that guest appearances are
based on their work schedules and commitments permitting.

Thank you all for your patience as we create the great weekend that occurs in
about 275 days. And, yes, we need all the time to get the planning and related
stuff done.

Other titles include but are not limited to; The Chris Isaak Show, Andromeda,
Poltergeist, First Wave and many more.

And, the usual words - work commitments and scheduls permitting.
Will be adding a photo as soon as we get one.

Hello Everyone!! Well, our gathering was fun, the only guest we had was Dean
Aylesworth, but Dan called in and tried very hard to make it, real life was just
not cooperating. But the small group of us had fun talking scifi, old cartoons,
TV and movies. The picnic was fun, had good food, played frisbee and enjoyed the
beautiful weather. We had 3 gorgeous days, it couldn't have been better. Mike
introduced us to everyone at the Country Music Awards Concerts we went to friday
and saturday nights, it was very cool. Mike really does get around, we were like
his posse!!! We ended at lunch on sunday as everyone had work the next day and I
got home by about 4pm, the border was a breeze, first time that's happened at
such an early time of day. I didn't really take many pictures as we really just
sat and talked and ate and drank and at night walked all over to the music
events. We did get group shots and individual shots with Dean though, he's a
sweetie.

The other guests had things come up as well and exressed their apologies that
they couldn't make it. Some will come to the Legendary Gathering next year so
we'll get a chance to see them and lots of other wonderful guests then. That's
all for me.

Kim signing out- the party's over. :P

Hello All!!! April Telek has said she'll stop by, YEAH!!!!!! I was busy with
personal stuff last week, Marcel and I went in for his green card interview and
it went well, he was approved and will be getting in the mail in about a month.
YYYYEEEEAAAHHHH!!!! So, now I can breathe, but I was quite stressed out and busy
before that. Now it's time to get down to business.

I need to know who would like to room with whom and who wants their own room so
I can book the rooms we'll need. I need to know who's a smoker as well, they
have smoking rooms on different floors. I need to have at least 3 rooms that are
side by side to act as our "Con" room. I believe they all have connecting doors
so we won't have to be going outside to get to other rooms. I'll be checking on
that and confirming rates early next week. As it seems it should be about 99 a
night for 2 people in a room. If we want to put 3 in a room there may be a
charge but I'll see if he can give us a break on that. Please check out the
hotel website for more info, it's the Burrard Inn, let me know if you want a
kitchenette or if you don't care as well, I'll get one so we can have a fridge
and stuff. I'll also have my coolers and blender too!!! Actually if anyone else
has a blender they can bring that would be great then we can have several
different kinds of drinks going at the same time.

I've made up a list of drinks to make with scifi names and am looking for
volunteers to bring either the alcohol or the mixers, maybe 1 of each if
possible so just 2 bottles per person. If you're not a drinker then you don't
need to bring any but please do bring something to drink for yourself. If you
can't bring something with you cause you're flying then you can put money in the
hat towards the cost. Since there's no fee for this event I'm thinking it can be
more of an everybody pitch in what they can to buy food, snacks and drinks for
our gatherings and special guests. Otherwise all meals are up to you to supply.
I will put a list together and post it so everyone can pick what they want to
bring. Kind of an organized potluck thing. :)

So, that's it for now, stay tuned for more info and stop by the Gathering
website for more details.

Yes that reminds me I have to put up the official photo ops photo and the other with me and him come to think of it lol. Would have had video but he said not to take any. sometimes you don't know whether it is ok to just take it at a convention panel and risk getting yelled at or ask (since it ended up some people video taped it anyway and either the hosts didn't notice or didn't care) but they told me to ask him directly and he didn't want it recorded. That was awkward he was eating breakfast at the time lol. He is a great speaker yes. There are so many actors at the conventions that are though and a lot of them like Aaron and Dan are so funny:)

Yeah, met him there last year too, completely amazing person. Got a photo op with him and then his autograph on it, he's sweet, humble and powerful, all wrapped into one. Gave me a big hug and thanked me for being a fan of his since his Miami Vice years, (it was all my dad's fault). But that's just how cool he is.

Then at the BSG party all the actors that showed up got on stage and said a few words, when he started you could tell it was going to be special. He was amazing, he roused the crowd so much I think all the neighboring hotels heard us when we did 3 rounds of, "So Say We All!!!" I tried to video tape it with my digital camera, only missed a little bit but it's not bad, maybe I'll have to post it. I know there are many videos of it on you tube, watched a few myself. He speech is moving, emotional and powerful, makes you believe he really is the leader of the human race.

Dan you are still the man but Eddie is the leader of all the MEN!! :)

Party on!! Kim

Sorry I know this is off topic but I'm really excited and I know a lot of you like BSG so I thought I would just post about it. I recently interviewed Edward James Olmos in person and the article has been published. No video but there are photos and I will be posting more photos on my own website. Right now the article is the top featured article at http://www.mediablv d.com the direct link is

http://www.mediablv d.com/magazine/ the_news/ celebrity/ one_on_one_ with_edward_ james_olmos_ 200908051817. html

Also, in case anyone is interested soon following this will be an interview - including a video - similar to Aaron's Douglas's but actually longer - for Sam Witwer (Crashdown from BSG, Davis Bloome/Doomsday from Smallville) and after that an interview (pictures no video) of Michael Rosenbaum (Lex from Smallville).

Anyway, I hope no one minds I posted about this I just thought I'd share:)

Updates when more photos and such will be up is always at

http://scifivision. livejournal. com

Now if only I could afford Gatecon...

Hi Dan,

Just watched Tin Man over the weekend (Space played the show over three nights).  Was pleasantly surprised to see you in the last ep.
