Hello, I originally posted this on the LG list and wanted to post it here too.

I have started to gather info for a meet up but haven't heard from Dan. So, I
was thinking we can either just plan our own meet up and invite a bunch of
guests and if anyone shows, then cool, if not then it's just us partying on our
own. Either way it'll be fun. My only problem right now is where to stay and if
I have enough money to really do this right.

Here's my problems. Marcel, my hubby, just got his work permit finally after
waiting for 6 months to be able to work in the US. So, now that he has it he has
to get a social security number and then find a job. So, we've been living on my
meager paycheck that doesn't even pay the bills, my mom has been helping us a
little and I've been using my credit card for some bills which is obviously a
very bad thing to do. So, I've got no money saved to spend on a trip to
Vancouver. If I didn't have to pay for a hotel it would be doable but with my
finances right now it doesn't look good. But a neighbor of ours has offered
Marcel a little side work to help us out but it's not alot and it's not regular.
So, I'm very wishy washy on if I'll be able to attend. I really want to sooo
bad, I so totally need to get away but the timing is very bad.

There is a hotel that I stayed at last year for Gatecon that was pretty cheap
and if we can get a group staying there it might be cheap enough for me to go.
It was right across the street from the Sheraton Wall Center. I think it's the
Burrard Inn. It's small, no frills, no services, but it's clean and was cheap.
The owner was very nice and even gave me a reduced rate cause I got a few others
to stay there, he even let me pick out my own room which was very nice. So, if
we all stay there and share rooms I should be able to go. I can contact him and
get more info if everyone thinks that's a good idea. If anyone has any other
ideas then I'm all ears. I'd be happy to carpool with someone to save on gas. I
have a Toyota Yaris, it seats 4 comfortably and has great gas mileage, about
35mpg. And I'm willing to go up with someone else if they want to drive.

So, there's some choices that need to be made. I picked the dates on the weekend
cause that's when most should be able to attend but remember that Mike will be
free to do more stuff during the week so he could get something together as well
for those that will be there longer. We need to find a place to stay and we need
to make a schedule of events. I'm guessing cocktail party/dinner possibly friday
night. Stanley park saturday, then cocktial party/dinner saturday night, sunday
can be lunch somewhere, trip to the studio to see who's around, possibly other
locations, or shop downtown, or go to Granville island.

If we have guests then we can do some kind of Q & A
session/autographs/photographs at stanley park and on Sunday somewhere too. If
there's just a small group of us then having guests will be more like just
hanging with friends and talking but we can still do autos and photos if the
guests are willing.

I spoke to Jason Schombing to see if he'd be interested and he said to contact
him closer to the time of the event. If we think this is something we really
want to do and will commit to it then I'll spread the word to all the people I
know and we'll see what we can come up with. But first I did want to make sure
the dates were ok. As long as it's good then I can send out an invite to
everyone by email and on Facebook, (if it let's me, it's been crashing alot
lately).

I've added lots of actors to my friend list on Facebook, strangely some I never
thought would add me but they did so it's way cool, so I can send out an
invitation to the event and we'll see who responds.

I'm actually kind of scared cause if we actually get a bunch of guests
interested and there's only like 6 of us they might be very dissappointed. But
then again it might just be fun for them too if they have a bunch of people they
know to spend the day with. Plus if we offer free food and drinks at least
that's something right? Anyway, let me know what you all think and then I'll
send out the invitation. Wish me luck.

Oh and of course if anyone else knows any actors or whoever to invite then
please do once we get the details settled. I figure what the hell, let's invite
everyone!!!!

Party On!!! Kim

As long as when inviting guests, you let them know that it may just be a "small" gathering of friends, then they will kinda know what to expect. And may even...
