My girlfriend wants me to wait to watch the second-season DVD with her, but we're not having much luck finding large blocks of time to watch them -- which means that I'm still nowhere near the end of the set, and I didn't see the last three episodes on television. I saw all the rest, but not those.
Translation: please don't tell me how it ends either. :)
I probably should just sneak a peek at the last three when my g/f isn't looking. She and I can come back to them together once she's seen all the ones that lead up to them. As for me, I've see all of the others when they were on TV, although on the other hand, I didn't see them in high-definition when they were on TV, so seeing them on
Blu-ray Disc is just that much more fun this time around.
Meanwhile:
I saw Anna Friel on one of the late-night talk shows (Jay Leno, I think) when she was promoting Land of the Lost this summer. Prior to that point, I had no idea what a very thick English accent she has when she's not in character. So now, as I'm making my way through the second season discs, I'm paying special attention to the way she delivers her lines, and I'm constantly amazed that there's never a hint of her natural accent, ever. Wow!

I missed it and please tell me what happened, especially the ending. Did they finally touch?
ahhh, just went to the link you provided. it's a few weeks old. there's been updates since then that we reported on COMIC NEWS INSIDER. :)
found the episode and here's the story i put together and reported from a few sources. it's very SPOILERY about the comic, so beware if you read! :)
jimmy ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pushing Daisies Resurrects at Marvel...uh...DC! Pushing Daisies
comics are coming, and although original reports had the show wrapping
its storyline with Marvel, Pushing Daisies mastermind Bryan Fuller
says, "We got a 12-issue order for a comic book for DC Comics. I think
the comic book is great, because it has all the characters in it, and
it starts a new story. It's basically Chuck, Ned, Emerson and Olive
versus 1,000 corpses, so it becomes a zombie movie, but the zombies are
articulate and smart and can do things that no other zombies can do.
The Pie-Maker versus 1,000 corpses." The original idea was to bring the
gang to the big screen. "It's the movie idea that I wasn't sure we'd
get to do. [The plot] is not really so much the back nine as it
would've been on the television show, it's a whole new story that wraps
everything up in a different context," says Bryan. Look for the book
this fall, but this summer, Comic-Con attendees may get a special
treat. Says Bryan, "We're hoping that we'll have artwork as a giveaway
at Comic-Con at the DC booth." There's also a good chance the first 12
issues aren't the last you'll see of the Pie-Maker's adventures. Bryan
says, "I literally just finished outlining the 12-episode arc, which
has an ending that propels us into another big story, so it's kind of
blackmailing them into ordering more comics, but we'll see if that'll
happen. We were unable to blackmail ABC, and we had to go back and redo
our [television] ending, so it's more satisfying for the fans." The
final three episodes of Pushing Daisies air on ABC beginning Saturday,
May 30 at 10 p.m.

I thought that this was important enough to post in the group. The show is cancelled for good now according to ABC anyway, so you might as well close the group because no one will be posting about it!

Obama Asks Congress to Delay Digital TV Transition
Barack Obama might have just bought more time for analog-TV owners who were facing the digital-TV transition without a converter box.
The president-elect asked Congress on Thursday to push back the Feb. 17 transition date, Broadcasting & Cablereports. In a letter, Obama's transition team co-chair John Podesta pointed to "inadequate funding" of the government's DTV education programs and issues with the converter-coupon program, asking Congressional leadership to "consider a change to the legislatively mandated cut-off date."
The Feb. 17 cut-off was initially set in 2005, by the outgoing administration.
As previously reported, the conversion coupon program, designed to help citizens purchase converter boxes, is already out of cash. Podesta asserts that as the deadline draws closer, the number of people left without coupons could reach five million. Further, he insists that low income, rural and elderly Americans will have the most trouble making the transition without
adequate governmental support.
In his letter, Podesta said that funds from Obama's economic recovery package could help fill in the financial gaps in the conversion program.
The Consumers Union on Wednesday also called for a delay, suggesting that the transition be moved to mid-summer.
What's your take? Should the digital conversion be delayed, or go through as planned?

Question: Don't you ever -- ever -- go three weeks without a new Ask Ausiello again. Do you hear me? Jacob Ausiello: If it's any consolation, the hiatus hurt you a lot more than it hurt me. Wait, that came out wrong. Actually, no, that's right.
Question: Any news as to whether Tom Welling has signed on for another season of Smallville? -- Scarlett Ausiello: Yes, there's news,
and it's good. Some would even call it, ahem, super. According to a well-placed Smallville insider, Welling is nearing a deal to return for a ninth season. I'm told they're just ironing out some minor deal points, such as should the Brinks Truck pull into the actor's driveway, or just unload on the street.
Question: Any major character deaths on Lost this season? -- Sophie Ausiello: None that I know of, but, after screening the first two eps, it certainly looks like a female cast-member isn't long for this world. The fact that she was recently cast in a big Hollywood movie doesn't bode well either. (Doc Jensen's got more on Lost's Jan. 21 premiere!)
Question: Got anything on Lost's 100th episode? -- Katy Ausiello: Paris Hilton's in talks to make a cameo as a Dharma intern circa 1973. I kid,
I kid. I'm told the episode, slated to air this May, won't feature any special stunts, although it is part of the run-up to the season finale and, well, that in itself is pretty stunty.
Question: I'll be your friend if you give me some Supernatural scoop. -- Shane Ausiello: There is a traitor amongst Sam and Dean. Okay, Shane, your first order of business as my friend is to buy me this.
Question: Anything on CSI: Miami? -- Tim Ausiello: Only that the show is casting a new lab rat who just might become a new recurring techie. According to my sources, said newbie Dave Benton — a twentysomething who's like a cross between Dave Navarro and Mr. Wizard — helps Ryan crack a case.
Question: Please tell me ABC will pick up the
Bill Lawrence-Courteney Cox comedy Cougar Town. I don't even know anything about it, but I've already decided it's my new favorite show. -- Tony Ausiello: Don't know anything about it? I can help out with that! The single-camera comedy stars Cox as a 40-year-old divorcee who decides to re-enter the dating scene now that her only son has graduated high school. "She's loosely based on my own mom, because my mom had me when she was very young," explains Lawrence, who will serve as show-runner if ABC gives it the green light. "It's a very weird dynamic, because they're essentially contemporaries." And don't be fooled by the title. Although Cox's character does have a fling with a young lad in the pilot, the series won't find her bedding a different Robert Buckley clone every week. "It's a campy title [but] it's not a campy show," he says. "It's set in a small town in Florida and the high school football team is named the Cougars, so we justify it that
way."
Question: We haven't had Ugly Betty scoop in forever! What's next? -- Sidra Ausiello: Marc's getting a new roommate...But the show isn't adding any new cast-members. Stumped? Head to the comments section and start brainstorming!
Question: Can't wait for Life on Mars to return. Got anything? -- Joel Ausiello: Producers are casting the never-before-seen wife of Michael Imperioli's cop, and if they're smart, they'll check Drea de Matteo's availability STAT. Or they can just take my word for it: She's free!
Question: 24 season 7 premiere screeners were recently sent out to the press, and I'm pretty sure the mighty Ausiello got one. Mind giving us a tidbit about this weekend's premiere? -- Yong Ausiello: If it's okay by you, I'd rather give you four tidbits, one for each hour of the two-night premiere.
1) Listen
closely for the words "deep sky," because one of 24's coolest twists ever occurs shortly after they're uttered. 2) A bombshell secret about Tony Almeida gets revealed around Hour 3: He's got pectoral muscles for days. Janeane Garofalo even gets to touch one of them! 3) Speaking of Garofalo, her chemistry with doppelganger Mary Lynn Rajskub is so off the charts that there's buzz Fox may spin them off into their own show. In related news, if I make a wish in Ask Ausiello, it officially qualifies as buzz. Totally true. 4) I've come to the conclusion after watching the first four eps that James Morrison is Neil Patrick Harris' biological father.
Question: Can you please give me scoop on House? I'm dying to know what is going to happens between Thirteen and Foreman after the hiatus. -- Cindy Ausiello: Trouble in paradise. When Foreman discovers that
Thirteen was given a placebo in the Huntington's clinical trial, he switches her to the real drug behind her back. The truth eventually comes out on Feb. 2 and all hell breaks lose. In the same episode, Cuddy turns the tables on House and tortures him for a change. If you're a Huddy fan, the episode is like a gift from the TV Gods.
Question: Any new news about the Veronica Mars movie? If not, some Gossip Girl scoop is perfectly acceptable. -- Amy Ausiello:Gossip Girl scoop it is! Word around the UES is that Serena will soon share something in common with Anne Hathaway. And garnering Oscar buzz ain't it.
Question: About Lily and Rufus' kid on Gossip Girl: another site said it was a boy and he died. Is that true? -- Hanna Ausiello: Only half of it.
Question: I need to know more about Gossip Girl, please! I'll give my entire
Smurf collection! -- Ali Ausiello: I have a sneaking suspicion that Chuck's mother is alive. Anyone else share my hunch?
Question: Please sir, can I have some Big Love scoop? -- Mary Ausiello: The Henrickson's pool will play host to a suicide attempt early into season 3 (debuting Jan. 18). In other Big news, Heather's crush on Sarah turns a new shade of awkward when the BFFs end up going to the prom together in the third episode. BTW, based on the first three eps, Big Love remains, IMHO, the most entertaining hour of TV in all the land. Spread the word.
Question: Anything on NCIS' Tony? Tony! Tony! Tony! -- Katie Ausiello: I'm not sure I understand your question. You want scoop on who? Ducky? Well, I don't have anything on him, so you'll have to settle for this Tony tidbit: He's replacing Gibbs as boss! Relax, it's only temporary. In a February episode,
Gibbs puts Tony in charge of the team when a case he once worked on gets reactivated.
Question: What is this I hear about the remaining Pushing Daisies and Dirty Sexy Money episodes airing in the summer? Please tell me it's not true. -- Cliff Ausiello: Actually, at this point, we'll be lucky if they air at all. Episode 11 of Daisies was originally scheduled to air tonight, but, per Bryan Fuller, the network dropped it from the schedule at the last minute. "They are not scheduled to air right now," he sighs, "and that's all we know." Let's have a round of applause for network TV!
Question: Any scoop on Grissom's last episode of CSI? -- Nicole Ausiello: Just a tip: Set your DVR to record a few minutes past 10 pm on Jan. 15, just as a precaution. You do not want to miss the final scene. Trust me. Also, you'll want to pick up a copy of the new EW when it goes
on sale this Friday. I think you'll fancy the cover subject.
Question: Do you have any news on One Tree Hill? We heard that Mark Schwahn had asked The CW for a decision on season 7 by 1 January so that he could write an appropriate season ending. -- Nathan Ausiello: Not Jan. 1, but a decision will be made soon. It's all about contracts now. The cast only signed six-year pacts, so new deals will have to be brokered. Negotiations are happening as we speak.
Question: I am a Media Buyer and, as God as my witness, Friday Night Lights will be renewed again. I am recruiting the buyers in my office to watch and purchase it. Best show on TV. -- Kendra Ausiello: Fight the heck on, Kendra. Don't miss tonight's penultimate season 3 ep, which features (skip to the last sentence of this answer, non DirecTV subscribers!) the long-awaited Tyra/Landry reunion, as well as a nail-biter of a state
championship game.Programming note: FNL's NBC run kicks off on Friday, Jan. 16.
Question: Any truth to the rumor that Gregory Itzin (President Logan) is returning to 24? He was recently seen in photos with the 24 cast at Kiefer Sutherland's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. -- Matt Ausiello: No truth to the rumor -- although the specter of Logan will loom large throughout season 7. But if it's an Itzin fix you're itching for, make tracks to CBS' The Mentalist, where he's playing the recurring role of Virgil Minelli, the Calif Bureau of Investigation boss.
Question: Any new Heroes scoop? -- Caroline Ausiello: I'm tempted to tell you who almost beat out Lionel Luthor for the role of Sylar's pop, but I don't think you'd believe me.Actually, I know you wouldn't believe me.
Question: We all know that Lafayette was the best character in Season One of True Blood. How can we make sure Alan Ball brings him back next season? -- Brody Ausiello: Well, as Ball himself recently reminded me, "Lafayette did die in the books." But, he adds, "That doesn't mean he won't be back. Anything's possible."
Question: What's the deal with Michelle Forbes' character on True Blood? Is she Tara's Demon? How does Sam know her? -- Marcy Ausiello: The mystery surrounding who (or what) Maryann is will play out front and center in season 2 -- and you may not find many clues in the books. "She's definitely a new kind of supernatural creature in Bon Temps," teases Ball. And as new as "it" is, it's also old. "Ancient. Ancient," Ball stresses. In other words, not a Cylon. BTW, production on True Blood's second season begins this week!
Question: The
wait for Burn Notice's second half of season 2 is killing me. Can you give us any tidbits? -- Julie Ausiello: How's this: "I wear less in the Jan. 22 premiere than I've ever worn in any episode," Jeffrey Donovan teases. "I actually walk into a pool party in a Speedo." You're welcome, Julie!
And with that, the first AA of '09 comes to a close. Send question/anonymous tips/new year's resolutions to ausielloscoop@.... Love ya, need ya, squeeze ya! (Additional reporting by Lindsay Soll and Andy Patrick)
Barack Obama might have just bought more time for analog-TV owners who were facing the digital-TV transition without a converter box.
The president-elect asked Congress on Thursday to push back the Feb. 17 transition date, Broadcasting & Cablereports. In a letter, Obama's transition team co-chair John Podesta pointed to "inadequate funding" of the government's DTV education programs and issues with the converter-coupon program, asking Congressional leadership to "consider a change to the legislatively
mandated cut-off date."
The Feb. 17 cut-off was initially set in 2005, by the outgoing administration.
As previously reported, the conversion coupon program, designed to help citizens purchase converter boxes, is already out of cash. Podesta asserts that as the deadline draws closer, the number of people left without coupons could reach five million. Further, he insists that low income, rural and elderly Americans will have the most trouble making the transition without adequate governmental support.
In his letter, Podesta said that funds from Obama's economic recovery package could help fill in the financial gaps in the conversion program.
The Consumers Union on Wednesday also called for a delay, suggesting that the transition be moved to mid-summer.
What's your take? Should the digital conversion be delayed, or go through as
planned?
Getting a vision from the brain to the small screen is no small task, but translating the world Bryan Fuller created for Pushing Daisies> onto network television was a thing of wonder. Elaborate sets, over-saturated colors, and teeny-tiny details made Pushing Daisies a feast for the eyes.

The Screen Actors Guild will delay its strike authorization vote by two weeks as the organization's leadership tries to contain growing dissent in the union.
The guild had planned to send out ballots Jan. 2 and to tabulate them by Jan. 23. But it now plans to delay sending out ballots until after an emergency meeting to be held Jan. 12 and 13, SAG national executive director Doug Allen announced late Monday.
Allen said he and SAG president Alan Rosenberg had agreed to delay the vote to "address the unfortunate division and restore consensus."
"This division does not help our effort to get an agreement from the Alliance of Motion Picture & Television
Producers that our members will ratify,'' Allen said. "This will provide us with more time to conduct member education and outreach on the referendum before the balloting."
In order to call a strike, the union would need 75 percent of the members who cast ballots to vote in favor of authorization. SAG has roughly 110,000 members.
"While almost 100 high-profile members and 2,524 total members have endorsed the strike authorization vote mandated by the national board, more than 100 high profile actors and 1,373 actors have lent their names to the opposition campaign," Allen said.
George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Russell Crowe, Sally Field, Robert Redford, Julianne Moore and Susan Sarandon are among those encouraging other members to vote no, saying a strike in the midst of a recession would be
ill-timed.
Those who support authorization include Martin Sheen, Mel Gibson, Hal Holbrook, Holly Hunter, Rob Schneider, Alicia Witt, and former SAG president Ed Asner.
The unions share shows that are recorded digitally.
AFTRA, which includes 44,000 people who also belong to SAG, has already accepted a contract similar to the one studios are offering SAG.
AMPTP, which represents studios, made its final offer June 30 as SAG's contract expired. The union says the latest offer is insufficient in terms of new-media jurisdiction and residuals.
SAG's New York division announced Dec. 12 that they opposed the
strike authorization vote and called for an emergency board meeting to replace the negotiating committee. Members at a New York town meeting a few days later accused Rosenberg and Allen of botching negotiations.
SAG leaders say the contract producers are offering doesn't adequately pay actors for videos that are streamed online. They also say actors should earn more from DVD sales, and deserve pay and control over product placements in shows and movies.
A strike would be another welt for the entertainment industry within a year of the writers' strike that sidelined the 2007-08 television season. One estimate placed the economic impact of the three-month strike, which was resolved in February, at $2.5 billion.
AMPTP estimates actors would lose $2.5 million a day by striking.
Working actors — those who make most of their income from film and TV — account for just about 10 percent of SAG members. The rest earn less than $28,000 a year from
acting work, but many work in side jobs that could also be affected by the strike.
And the slim hopes of Pushing Daisies fans wilt just a bit more.
David E. Kelley has plucked Kristin Chenoweth to co-star in Legally Mad, the Boston Legal creator's new series for NBC.
A quirky legal drama (get out!) revolving around a woman who takes a job at her father's Chicago law firm,
Legally Mad finds Chenoweth playing Skippy Pylon, a brilliant but somewhat off-kilter — OK, perhaps slightly psychotic — attorney who is often is mistaken for a teenager.
Of Chenoweth's casting, Kelley says in a statement, "I've wanted to work with her for a long time and can't wait to reveal her as someone who's completely mad."
The last scheduled episode of Pushing Daisies aired Dec. 17; the fate of the remainder of the ABC series' 13-episode Season 2 order remains TBD.
Prior to her Emmy-nominated Daisies run, Chenoweth appeared on such TV series as The West Wing and the eponymous sitcom Kristin. She also of course originated the role of Glinda the Good Witch in Broadway's Wicked. I still remember catching one of her first performances, where a real-life injury landed her in a neck brace, and she was quite the effervescent trouper!
What's your take? If
Daisies is indeed done, isn't a quirky David E. Kelley drama the next best fit for Chenoweth?
