Because I'd forgotten what I'd originally signed up with.
Apologies for the inconvience.

Sorry I wasn't more specific in my response.  What I meant was that the snailmail fan club run by Julien is still in production.  She is also the Listmom of the DM/RayV email group "d'mob".  If at all possible, could you send Elaine a message to contact me?  It's nothing urgent - I just wanted to chat.  Thanks!

Nice to hear from you and to know that DAML is still functioning. I'm sure
your thoughts and prayers are much appreciated and it is somewhat reassuring
to know that in spite of the appalling tragedy of Sept. 11th, far fewer
lives were lost than anticipated at first.

Also, let me take this opportunity to tell you that we at Fraserfriends have
developed some additional 'fanfic' based on DS. Let me know if you would
like copies.

This just in: Soup for NY
I just did it! It's fast and easy. So no excuses for not
getting soup donated. All of you have 1 minute to spare! People
in New York and DC are going to be having to hit foodbanks hard.
There will be a need in NY for the soup. Below is an easy way
to help....

Campbell's is donating a can of soup to area foodbanks just by
clicking on a football helmet at their website. Now, I know
there are some pretty diehard football fans out there (The
Packers are currently the #1 donator with over 100,000), so
let's see which team gets the most support and help some hungry
people, too! It's quick, easy, and can be done once a day. Here
is a hyper link to directly connect you to their website.

http://www.chunky.com/click_for_cans.asp

then click on your favorite team's helmet and Campbell will
donated a can of soup. That is it! Please pass this to a friend
or 2,3,4...

Dear Ma'am Laura
and everyone in DAML,

Apologies for this belated late enquiry regarding
the USA attacks and its tragic repercussions
to everyone everywhere.

But are you all okay? Are your relatives
and friends etc ok? I mean, I honestly pray and
hope that that no DAML members or their relatives
or friends etc were nowhere near or in those regions
affected, or even on those aircraft that ended up being used
as weapons.
If any members, or their families, or their friends etc
have been. Then my heart-felt sympathy and prayers go
out to one and all afffected by this tragedy.

Has anyone been able to find out if David Marciano and
his relatives and friends are ok?
Or if Paul Gross and his relatives and friends
are also ok?
Or if the rest of the DS cast and crew and everyone
else involved, relatives and friends etc are also ok?

I only ask, because I heard that one member of the USA
television entertainment industry was lost.
That was David Angell, who wrote and was involved with
classic sitcoms/comedies:
"CHEERS" and "WINGS" and many others.
"ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT" reported that he and his wife
were on one of the aircraft used as weapons.
I hope and pray that no one else from the
entertainment industry has been lost or otherwise affected.

I haven't been able to properly access Yahoo Groups or DAML,
due to recent varied computer problems that I've been
having.
My extreme apologies, for even having mentioned this
unbelievable trivial subject, regarding the recent
events.

Again, I really honestly hope that you all are ok.
I have to sign off, now.
Thoughts and prayers to all.
Yours sincerely,
Marilyn.R.Pye

True.  Hmm.  I guess Ray would be itching to say something.  I guess I'm
speaking from my own lack of inability to suffer in silence, <G> but I think
the Detective would  make some obscure remark, looking for Benny's reaction.
But I wonder if Ray would be upset if Benny refused to acknowledge it.  I

Yes, i think he'd probably work overtime that day, just to block it all out.
Then Benny could come get him about six, offering dinner at their diner and
maybe a movie...and about half way through the night, Ray would realize Benny
had done all this just so Ray would forget - which he did...and the Italian
would feel immensely grateful. :::sigh:::  So beautiful!  Seriously, one has
to wonder how something like the first anniversary of Victoria Metcalf would
be dealt with by our boys.  I just don't think Benny would let it pass

Dear All

I am not sure if this is likely to be a problem but better to be safe than sorry.  Please read note below.  I followed the instructions and found a file entitled 'sulfnbk' with a strange icon in the C drive.  I have already deleted it.

I have Mcafee but it did not identify this file as a virus.  I don't recall intentionally downloading a file of this name.  If it has come in as the original sender suggests, I received it after Nov. 22nd 2000.  That was when we changed our PC and the old hard drive files went into the D drive.  The file is not on the D drive but was residing in C.

It is possible you have received an email from me in the last few months.  I strongly suggest you carry out the same check.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

Subject: Nasty virus, please check your computer

It was brought to our attention today that we may have a virus on all of our computers here at work.  We've checked using the deletion procedure below and found that we did have it on all our computers so we presume that this is a real warning and not spam.
We do not know how long it has been on our computers, but apparently Virus software can  not detect it.  It will not become active until June 1, 2001, at that point it will become active and will be too late.  It wipes out all files and folders on the hard drive. This virus travels thru E-mail and migrates to the 'C:\windows\command'  folder.  To find it and get rid of it off of your computer,
do the following.

         Go to the "START" button.
        Go to "FIND" or "SEARCH"
        Go to "FILES & FOLDERS"
Make sure the find box is searching the "C:" drive.
        Type in;   SULFNBK.EXE
       Begin search.
If it finds it, highlight it.        DO NOT OPEN THE FILE!!!
Go to 'File'  and delete it.
       Close the find Dialog box
        Open the Recycle Bin
Find the file and delete it from the Recycle bin
        You should be safe.

The bad part is: You need to contact everyone you have sent ANY E-mail to in the past few months.  We do not know how long this has been on our computers.

DO NOT RELY ON YOUR ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE. [NEITHER] McAFEE NOR NORTON CAN DETECT IT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT BECOME A VIRUS UNTIL JUNE 1ST. IT  WILL BE TO LATE THEN.  WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT OPEN THE FILE

Dear All

May 24th was also celebrated in at least some states of Australia, including New South Wales, where I came from, up until about 1960.  Children used to be given a half day holiday from school.  It was called Empire Day until about 1954-5 and afterwards British Commonwealth Day.

I vaguely recall being informed by a teacher that the custom began in Canada, during Queen Victoria's reign.  Good to see that the tradition persists in Canada.  I think that long ago it was judged 'non P.C.' by the globalist Australian establishment (which is rather like the one over here that assumes that the year dot began in May 1997 - I'm not getting political, simply applying OFM's dislike of corruption in high places).

The evening of May 24th was also used as the quivalent of Guy Fawkes night, when numerous bonfires were set alight - after many days spent denuding the surrounding bush of vegetation for the purpose - and large amounts of fireworks were exploded.  The former created havoc for airline pilots trying to find Sydney Airport through the smoke and the latter greatly increased the number of children admitted to casualty wards with burns, abrasions, lacerations and other injuries.  The fire brigades were also kept busy.  (In some states, e.g. Western Australia, November 5th was retained as the date for all this mayhem.)

Unfortunately, the 1/2 holiday, culminating in the incendiary festivities (known as 'cracker night' (long before Robbie Coltrane was ever featured on the box)) far eclipsed the significance of the date with respect to that magnificent little Queen.  (I never thought of her once in about 10 years of sending hard-earned parents' dosh up in smoke on the day.  I think the practice was eventually curtailed, not only because of the reasons given above but also because items coming on the market from S.E. Asia, plus home-made devices produced by enterprising adolescents, were judegd as best dealt with by Army Engineers, i.e. bomb disposal experts or the equivalent...)

Us yougsters really could have done with someone like Fraser Snr. or Sgt. Frobisher (minus his digestive problems) to help us keep the right balance.  If that's not a sound reason for a sequel to DS (apart from the usual box office incentive, which regrettably doesn't seem to exist), I don't know what is.

Regards
Alan O'R

P.S. My own attempt at a sequel has been updated somewhat since I last mentioned it on this group.  If anyone would like a copy (preferably as a WORD '97 attachment), please let me know, OL if you prefer.

holiday by the Legislature of the Province of Canada in 1845. After
Confederation, the Queen's birthday was celebrated every year on May 24
unless that date was a Sunday, in which case a proclamation was issued
providing for the celebration on May 25. An amendment to the Statutes of
Canada in 1952 established the celebration of Victoria Day on the Monday
preceding May 25. From 1953 to 1956, the Queen's birthday was celebrated in
Canada on Victoria Day, by proclamation of the Governor General, with Her
Majesty's approval. In 1957, Victoria Day was permanently appointed as the
Queen's birthday in Canada. In the United Kingdom, the Queen's birthday is
celebrated in June. In 2001 Victoria Day will be celebrated on Monday, May
21st.

A the probably what the Brits call thte 'Queen's Birthday holiday'. And it
doesn;t mean Elizabeth it means Victoria. In that case I think there would be
parades and that Benny would be involved, either as an organiser or taking
part in the parade itself.

Anyway, I think he would and he'd spend the day holed up in a
library somewhere studying what Americans know about the former
queen... and Ray would berate him for wasting such a beautiful
day by spending it inside. YMMV

Goodness!  There was a poll!?  I certainly didn't know about it!  Besides,
RayV was never a "sidekick".  He was a partner.  Sidekicks do *not* bond.  I
won't say what Stan was.

Hello, Everyone there at DAML.
I have been busy, apologies, but the digests received
have been amazing.
Apologies, still, but I have to report sighting CKR,
in a movie, that was screened on the IMPARJA television
network, during the Olympics.
The movie is called:
"THE RANGER, THE COOK AND A BIG HOLE IN THE SKY."
It's a western.
It stars Sam Elliot, Jerry O'Connell, Don.S.Davies
and a heap of other terrific actors.
CKR's role is a small one. He plays a character named
'Small Hat.' (I think that's the character's name.)
Who's part of a group of crooked card players, who always
cheat the (above) group of bush-fire fighters,
led by Elliot's character (that's the title's 'Ranger.')
out of their hard earned money in this annual card
game.
O'Connell's character is the young man who joins them for the
summer.
Well. The warning is that in this movie, CKR actually acts!!
He's finally starting to learn how to use and do with
emoting etc. (I mean, learning acting techniques etc.)
As Paul Gross and David Marciano (and others)
have always shown with their varied roles etc.
But CKR is not as goodlooking etc, as
Messrs Gross and Marciano.
Anyhow, I have to sign off, now.
Keep fit and fine, everyone.
Yours sincerely,
Marilyn.R.Pye
P.S.
Elaine. If you are reading this, I'll be
sending SAEs in the post.
Apologies galore, that I forgot to send them.

Well sad to say that it doesn't appear that this is probably
not going to be a recurring role for David. <sigh> Just a
frustration here, but I'm so tired of always seeing him cast as
a thug or a hoodlum. Why doesn't some casting director wake up
and watch his stuff from DS, CW and CB. He's so damn multi-
faceted and yet he keeps getting the same kinds of roles over
and over. <sigh again>

And what's up with that facial hair? It looked like he was
starting to grow a gotee but hadn't quite gotten that far yet.
You know, that scruffy unshaven look that Don Johnson made so
popular in Miami Vice? Well anyway, it was good to see DM
again, even if he was a derranged bomber. Still holding out
hope that he'll turn up again on 'Judging Amy'. I mean, even if
they kill off Vincent, shouldn't his boss show up at the
funeral? Maybe even 'console' the grieving sister? (wink, wink,
nudge, nudge)

Jennifer, Poet and anyone else in America!

While you may have missed Harlem Nights, you can see David tonight (Friday 6th
October) in the season opener of NASH BRIDGES on CBS. I think it's 10pm EST,
but you should probably check your local listings just to be sure.

The episode is titled Rock And a Hard Place.

Enjoy... and please let all us poor deprived Brits (vbg) know what David does in
the ep!

All the best,

Vicky
