Dear All

I am not sure if this is likely to be a problem but better to be safe than sorry.  Please read note below.  I followed the instructions and found a file entitled 'sulfnbk' with a strange icon in the C drive.  I have already deleted it.

I have Mcafee but it did not identify this file as a virus.  I don't recall intentionally downloading a file of this name.  If it has come in as the original sender suggests, I received it after Nov. 22nd 2000.  That was when we changed our PC and the old hard drive files went into the D drive.  The file is not on the D drive but was residing in C.

It is possible you have received an email from me in the last few months.  I strongly suggest you carry out the same check.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings.

Yours sincerely
Alan O'Reilly

Subject: Nasty virus, please check your computer

It was brought to our attention today that we may have a virus on all of our computers here at work.  We've checked using the deletion procedure below and found that we did have it on all our computers so we presume that this is a real warning and not spam.
We do not know how long it has been on our computers, but apparently Virus software can  not detect it.  It will not become active until June 1, 2001, at that point it will become active and will be too late.  It wipes out all files and folders on the hard drive. This virus travels thru E-mail and migrates to the 'C:\windows\command'  folder.  To find it and get rid of it off of your computer,
do the following.

         Go to the "START" button.
        Go to "FIND" or "SEARCH"
        Go to "FILES & FOLDERS"
Make sure the find box is searching the "C:" drive.
        Type in;   SULFNBK.EXE
       Begin search.
If it finds it, highlight it.        DO NOT OPEN THE FILE!!!
Go to 'File'  and delete it.
       Close the find Dialog box
        Open the Recycle Bin
Find the file and delete it from the Recycle bin
        You should be safe.

The bad part is: You need to contact everyone you have sent ANY E-mail to in the past few months.  We do not know how long this has been on our computers.

DO NOT RELY ON YOUR ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE. [NEITHER] McAFEE NOR NORTON CAN DETECT IT BECAUSE IT DOES NOT BECOME A VIRUS UNTIL JUNE 1ST. IT  WILL BE TO LATE THEN.  WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT OPEN THE FILE
