Arthur Green---a man of Eastern manners who has only recently relocated to the West. He has a burning desire to bring culture to the Prairie. A graduate of the Boston Academy of Music (or so he says), Mr. Green is still getting adjusted to the ways of the west. It isn't exactly clear how AG ended up at Curtis Wells. Perhaps it was the availability of an empty Opera House. Or perhaps it was that conversation that he had with Clay....a chance meeting really.. (or was it?) ...about Curtis Wells becoming the Atlanta of the West. In any event, Green has arrived only a week or two ago and already he has shaken up Clay with a surprise or two. Casually, but cleanly dressed, AG is not above using promotion and "popular entertainment" to finance his vision of real culture. After a few drinks at the Ambrosia a few days ago, he insisted that everyone call him "Maestro." While amusing to Clay, Call finds the man refreshing in an odd sort of way. AG does not carry any obvious weapons. While a man of genteel manners, he is not above using guile and manipulation to acheive his vision. He prefers to "pull the strings', i.e. working the background through others to acheive his goals.....
He was going to be a tormented preacher. Having the call to preach the Gospel, yet wanting to be a cowboy. Out of respect for Deb's story " Trials and Tribulations ", I will leave the preacher to her.
He is still tormented. He has a calling to preach. But has entered CW as a driver for the Freight and Transfer building ( across from Twyla's ). He has two good hands, so the guy with the hook ( driver in The Bride ) is discriminated against and fired.
Josiah may ask him to run a church service. His struggles are wanting to be his own man. The spirit inside leans toward obedience, the flesh wants pleasure.
He carries and knows how to use weapons. Gun is 1873 Colt Peacemaker. Nothing fancy. " This here gun's for shootin', not looking pretty". Also has the typical 1866 Winchester " Yellow Boy" rifle. Is nowhere near as good as Call or Mosby at shooting.
Doesn't want to have loyalty to anyone, feeling his calling forces him to start out neutral. Inner struggles could change that.
His name is Zachariah Rodrig. Hails from Louisiana. Courted a girl visiting family from Michigan. Became close friends with her brother. This led him to join the Cavalry in 74. During the summer of 74 served with Custer for the Black Hills Expedition. Injured in a fall during an engagement with Hostiles. Out of the Cavalry in 75 due to injury not healing properly. After the 7th was wiped out in 76, he felt it was the hand of the Good Lord that delivered him.
Spent the next few years ministering to the enlisted men at nearby Forts McNabb and Ellis. Knew Lord's hand was on him as he even grew friendly with the Lakota and Cheyenne.
One struggle is he doesn't want to clean up. Likes shabby hair and clothes. Knows he should look more civilized if he decides to preach.
That should be plenty enough for starters.
I forgot to answer one of Darcie's questions. Concerning Woodrow Call and Hat Creek, write them in if you'd like. We have the whole frontier before us.
You can post what you write on the CW page. Only thing is, everyone can see and know what you are doing. This is okay if you don't mind.
Sending your plans to me allows for surprises, which could be more entertaining once the episode is posted.
You may want to share with others or not let them know your motives or business.
Here's an example: Let's say we are replaying the episode from 2nd season, " The Robbery ". Everyone except John knows what happens. Say we created this episode ourselves. We decided what the story was to be about. The story is acted out with all the characters. However, your own personal character is involved in the story. Cheryl's character ( Evangeline Creel ) deals with Mosby as he questions Mr. Creel. John's character ( Arthur Green ) has a scene with Mosby, giving him information on what he heard outside Twyla's.
Sorry to confuse anyone. It's simpler than I explain. You're welcome to post on CW site or to me. There should times and situations when you prefer no one knows your objectives or motives. Imaginary example: John is Sheriff. Darcie's waitress, Lottie, wants to free Robert Shelby from jail. If this is posted on CW site, John will know Darcie's plan. Instead of going to lunch, leaving the jail unguarded, John will take actions to stop this. In this case, a private message allows for circumstances to unfold naturally.
Since Robert Shelby was mentioned, Clay could name him sheriff, as Darcie commented yesterday. Travis can be long gone. Although in real life, there were occasions where men on the wrong side of the law were hired to clean up towns.
That sets up a good storyline: The Election. With no sheriff in CW, the field is open to a town vote. Mosby backs Robert Shelby, which makes for very interesting possibilities. Austin and Luther could run. Since most of you want Austin to suffer, he can't win.
Think about that one. It could even be the opening episode if majority rules.
Hope that helps everyone. Will post my character later today.
Craig

Let me see if I understand this. We write something and send it to
YOU and not post it directly here. Somehow this all gets compiled
together, and eventually it gets posted here in its entirety? Is
this right???
Trying to figure this whole thing out.

I would like everyone to contribute pieces of writings concerning your character. You could also write scenes between your character and other LD residents, or scenes between any LD people.
Write a scene between Unbob and Austin. Whatever you want.
Ideas for stories are welcome. You want the whiskey runners from The Long Shot back for a new episode, write or tell me something. I just want everyone to feel equal in all we do. I don't mind writing all the episodes. I just don't want anyone losing interest due to their not getting a hands-on experience.
You don't have to write anything if you are too busy or not ready. You can tell me the general plan of what your character will be doing. I would like to know how your character talks, so I don't write dialogue for you and you say " my character doesn't talk like that!" See what I'm getting at?
So many of you signed up for this game are very impressive writers. Your fanfiction proves that!
When the episode is posted for all to read, it will be a joint effort from all of us. You will all recognize your own words and decisions in the story. You are all submitting pieces of a puzzle. I'll put them together to make one complete episode. I would personally be a little wary and confused if I was reading this right now. If you'll give it a chance, you might be pleasantly surprised.
Thanks Darcie, and everyone for your support. Thanks, Deb for what you did to get us to this point.
Darcie brought up some very interesting questions.
We were planning to continue after the final episode of the second season. This is to be the historic third season. There are many third seasons out there, this is just another one.
Darcie's mention of doing episodes during TS, between TS and TOY, or during TOY is brillant and exciting. We have no limits for enjoying the town. We can begin our third season very soon, and take a break to do episodes from the three mentioned time periods.
As individuals, we all have opinions about what we should do. I'd like to think we will have time to not only create our own third season, but to create new episodes from the earlier days (TS, TOY ).
Far as I know, we can't actually meet at the real location where LD was filmed and dress up and walk the streets. The town on Darcie's LD site isn't the same as the real thing. But, at least it's a little something for the LD faithful to enjoy.
I am willing to listen to any suggestion anyone has concerning this.
One more thing: there is an Indian village currently set up near CW. There are other buildings and things like a mine, train, cavalry fort set aside for use when needed. Be creative. We could develop something bigger than we realize.
In answer to " How long does a game take place? Will this be continuous, or will there be an end to the story?"
It will be like a television episode. Most episodes will have an end. Though many things, like the real episodes continue on.
Writing everyone's contributed pieces into the final story will take the longest time. I would estimate that since I will be moving all characters by myself, it could take a few hours to complete. Volunteers to help move people are welcome.
I will try to run it so it isn't too short or too long.
Concerning where certain CW residents are as we begin:
There is unanimous agreement on some things, while others are a split vote.
We need to agree on split vote choices. I'm okay with majority rules. Example: 3 say give Mattie the boot, 2 say bring her back. I'm one of the bring her back votes, but would agree to remove her per majority decision.
We won't all be perfectly happy with decisions. That should make a better, more real atmosphere in town. If you want to voice an opinion about this, please do.
Thanks everyone for the time you've given for this. Craig newt2nd

You mentioned that you have already have a character description for
your character. Please share it here with us that are not in the

My character is named Lottie, short for Charlotte. Her ambition is
to move back east. Originally from Seattle, she has made it to CW.
She works at the LD Hotel as waitress (or whatever needs to be
done). She is single, shy, almost afraid; therefore, she doesn't
make many tips at the Dove. She is down on her luck. She would like
to avoid prostitution, but there may be no choice. Lottie remembers
kindnesses by serving something a little special (ex. something extra
or a special treat), but she also remembers rudeness. Lottie won't
do anything overt per se, but she might spit in your food if you are
really rude to her.
Lottie believes that she is being pursued by relatives in Seattle.
If cornered, Lottie will use whatever weapons are at hand, like a
fork or knife or a frying pan.
As for her figure ... she's a waitress, so nothing fancy. There was
a girl with a broom that will probably be ok, since Lottie will be
sweeping at the Dove and whatnot.
QUESTION: WHO is writing this??? Are we writing? How does
character development take place?
Confused.

This depends if you want to start things in the middle of TOY or at
the end of TOY. Is it possible to change events that happened at the
end of TOY (THE ROBBERY, MEDICINE, and L&W) if we start in the middle
of TOY?
My personal opinion is that we should start at the end of TOY ... I
know the facts and I know who did what to whom.
So no, Mattie is gone. Someone could write her back.
> What's Amanda's role(hotel or no.10 saloon)?
Number 10 ... Her ambition is to take the town back PIECE by PIECE.
> What is Austin's role(sheriff or bum)?
On the road to hell.
> Should Luther be sheriff?
No opinion ... I think he could.
> Should Travis Hackett be sheriff(Austin could be his deputy)?
I don't think so ... because in TOY, not only is Mrs. Hackett not
there, but Travis is a convicted felon. It makes about much sense to
have Robert as sheriff. (At least Robert would be a timely sheriff.)
> Does Mosby own the hotel?
At the end TOY, Mosby does.
> Is Owen Kerney sheriff?
Nope.
> Does Mrs. Grayson or Mrs. Hackett come back to CW?
They certainly could.
> Does Buffalo Bill return?
Sigh. He truly doesn't fit in TOY. Too much color. LOL
QUESTION: How long does a game take place? Will this be continuous,
or will there be an end to this story?
I ask this because it might be interesting to play a game set in TS
or between TS and TOY, or in the middle of TOY. We could play in
other time periods in the show.
ANOTHER QUESTION: What about Woodrow and the Hat Creek gang??
--
Darcie
It's true that I have only seen the first TOY episode, however, thanks to Craig (God Bless Him) a serious gap in my LD education is soon to be filled. In the meantime, I must of necessity abstain from certain answers.
Mattie..last time I saw her, she was just settling in.
Amanda....never met her.
Austin.....hard to say. I think he needs to be a bum for awhile to find himself.
Luther....abstain
Travis....abstain
Mosby...hmmm....did he do such a good job running it?
Kearney....I think he survived the first season, but was so crippled from his wounds that he had to retire.
Ms. Grayson....no..she's off to San Francisco. Ms. Hackett retired and left town, missie!
BB.....hmm...only if he comes to town and starts Call's conversion back to Newt. He might have to be there a while, though.
One thing I neglected to mention: there is an Indian village set up outside of CW. There are near 100 male and 10 female Indians, if anyone is interested for episodes.Yes, Red Crow is among them.
If you are serious about attempting this unique adventure, there are matters to be discussed among us.
Is Mattie still at the gunsmith? What's Amanda's role(hotel or no.10 saloon)? What is Austin's role(sheriff or bum)? Should Luther be sheriff? Should Travis Hackett be sheriff(Austin could be his deputy)? Does Mosby own the hotel? Is Owen Kerney sheriff? Does Mrs. Grayson or Mrs. Hackett come back to CW? Does Buffalo Bill return?
These people are already in town: Lau in bath house, Harry in his tent, Mosby's men(Zeke, Pratt, etc.), Josiah, Ike, Dr. Cleese, Unbob, Mosby, Call, Creel, Mattie, Amanda, Austin, Twyla, Florie, Sadie, Rosa, Samuel from the livery, Mr. Browley the barber.
These buildings are vacant according to the LD tv episodes. Are you interested in running one of them? Dry Goods Two-Story building next to dry goods Bank(beware, Hiram Cobb died and 2nd season banker shot) Mining Supplies(under Doc Cleese's office) Assay Office Freight and Transfer Drug Store Saloon(between hotel and drug store) Real Estate No. 10 saloon( depending on Amanda situation)
I'd be obliged if you could all take a couple of minutes and respond, including female choice figures. The first episode is ready to begin, I need to know if your character wants to be in the 1st story. Maybe like the real show, some new characters are already in town? If that's the case, let me know. How you came to CW can always be told later.

*I don't see Mattie coming back -- she's been there, done that.
*Amanda could work for Mosby running the hotel. Mosby owns the hotel.
*I don't see Austin getting his job back -- not if Mosby had anything
to say about it.
*Luther could be sheriff or still drive the stage -- I like him on
the stage.
*Dump Travis.
*Owen Kearney died of his wounds after L&W.
*Ida and Mrs. Hackett are long gone.
*Buffalo Bill? Please!

Thank you for responding. I'm very sorry if I seemed impatient. I'm excited and need to remember everyone has many responsibilities each day.
You are in my prayers for getting well. Lots of sick people here in Northern California lately.
You've made a good choice for your figure. This is a new one I got after sending Darcie the pictures. You will be able to view it soon. But, I can tell you a bit more about her. The dress has four little, white buttons on the front. Sleeves go to elbows. Left hand tugging at dress to show black left shoe as she takes a step. Head turned slightly to her right.
When you feel better, let me know if she arrives on stage for opening episode. Maybe some quotes as to how she talks, and possible encounters for story.
Do you see good relationships with certain town people? Are there any potential problems you anticipate? Who do you feel will be her friends?
Great job creating and developing Miss Evangeline Creel. When all have responded like you, I will be able to take the pieces and complete the puzzle.
If some of you don't exactly know what the others are doing, it will be more interesting to see the episode/story. Unfortunately, I have to know, since I have to move everyone's character in the town. But, I will not use any secret information to my benefit.
I'm hoping everyone will contribute ideas and plot suggestions for our episodes. Sometimes a hint or just laying a foundation to build on in upcoming stories.
Robert Shelby has expressed a serious interest in returning to CW.
Judge J.T."Rope" Calder could visit, depending on the situation.
Samuel Peters and the surviving McSween brother are available.
Martin Sullivan (a.k.a. John Stocker) could bring regulators against Mosby.
Craig sorry I didn't get back to you sooner with my choice of character and her backstory. I've been a bit under the weather and recently just mustered up the strength to respond.
Is Mattie still at the gunsmith? As much as I like her, no...sorry. I always wondered what Call & Unbob would do without her. What's Amanda's role(hotel or no.10 saloon)? Running the hotel What is Austin's role(sheriff or bum)? Make him a bum! ;) Should Luther be sheriff? I don't think so, but I'm not totally against it...could be interesting. Should Travis Hackett be sheriff(Austin could be his deputy)? Sounds fine to me, though we should leave Austin suffering in the gutter for a while. Does Mosby own the hotel? Yes her does Is Owen Kerney sheriff? He's retired, moved to AZ to help with his aching joints ;) Does Mrs. Grayson or Mrs. Hackett come back to CW? If the town changes for the better they could come back, but I don't see Ida or Mrs. Hackett living in a town run by
Mosby. Does Buffalo Bill return? He could, but briefly. Maybe show poor Call the light while recruiting more people for his show.
<<I'd be obliged if you could all take a couple of minutes and respond, including female choice figures. Okay, first the female figure of choice for me is the one with long green dress with the yellow in the front and the green bow at the neck. My character will be arriving in CW. Her name is Evangeline Creel. She's the young and pretty niece of Mr. Creel the shopkepper of CW. She's about 20 years old and is originally from St. Joseph, Missouri where her parents own a hotel. She's been sent out to live with her uncle because recently she had her heart broken by a young man (more about this at a later date) and her parents thought a change of scenery would be good for her. She is looking forward to the trip and plans to help take care of the store with her uncle.
Hope I gave enough information. Having never done an RPG before I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. Craig if you feel I left something out or anything just let me know. Thanks for all your hard work Craig.

Thanks for responding. We need to make these decisions about our new episodes. I believe we've all thought about where things would be continuing on, except John, whose only seen the 1st episode of the 2nd season.
My personal choices:
I think Mattie should be back as gunsmith
I'm fine with Amanda running Mosby's hotel
Luther as Sheriff, Travis as deputy is fine with me
Put Austin anywhere you like, except on Newt's bench
I'll miss Ida and Dorothy Hackett, but ok if they're gone
Buffalo Bill touring is fine (Call reunited with Bill could be interesting)
Owen Kerney retired is fine with me
Olivia Jessup return visit sounds good
Consider Austin working in newspaper with Josiah. Or Luther or Travis helping to clear Austin's head. Maybe Austin could be another deputy. Put him where you think best.
If everyone could drop a quick note telling me if you want to be in the 1st episode, or prefer to wait and see how good it is before you commit.
Darcie, Deb, Cheryl, Sheila: can you let me know current standings. Have you picked a figure? Do you have a name? Are you already in town?
Instead of a one hour type episode, we can make the opening story more like the TNT opening three episodes of the 1st season, like a mini-series to kick things open. If anyone is hesitant or busy, please take a moment to let me know so we can get started. I'm confident once it begins, it will make sense and you'll be ready.
Write soon guys, Mosby and Call are waiting to meet you. Craig
Here's my take on the current situation, and please - anyone - feel free to disagree if you have a different perception of these characters:
Mattie is again the gunsmith, having become discouraged and lonely in Miles City
Amanda is reinstated as manager of the hotel
Austin is a bum and in and out of trouble
Luther is Acting Sheriff, with Travis as his deputy
Owen Kerney is retired in CW
Ida and Mrs. Hackett are gone for good
Buffalo Bill is touring with his Wild West Show
Mosby owns the hotel, among other things, and is slowly expanding his empire
This is just my general impression of where everyone would be at the start of the mythical third season. Olivia might be back for a visit, and there will be others from the past who come to CW for one reason or another. Guess we'll see....

Hello and thank you to everyone willing to join. John and myself
already have our figure for the game. Our names too. Hope the women
are choosing their personal figure to represent their character.
You'll need a name also. Call can't sit on his bench and say " there
goes what's her name?"
You can always change figures and your character. You may want to
write out someone, to return at a later episode.
We will also have to set the stage for some current residents as to
there standing at the start.
I wish to allow everyone to be involved equally. I've begun an
opening story, not to do it my way, but to share with all. It may be
that there is some initial confusion as to many things. I would only
be trying to get things started.
You can email Darcie, who would then have to let me know. Or, just
email me or this place.
Unbob has notified me that Rufus and Blackie will provide all the
eggs we can eat for a get-together at the hotel to discuss anything.
The Curtis Wells replica town has a new extension. The church is now
up.
Looking forward to hearing from the new girls in town about previous
said things. Thanks, LD friends. Craig newt2nd
Look forward to seeing you in town, John. We could use a little culture in CW and it appears we have the right man for the job. Good luck with the Opera House.
Look forward to seeing you in town, John. We could use a little culture in CW and it appears we have the right man for the job. Good luck with the Opera House.
I don't know how to repay or thank you for the very impressive work
you've done in displaying this new adventure. I'm in you debt.
There are two more female figures just acquired. One in long green
dress with yellow square around front of neck, green bow on neck.
Other in cream colored long dress with burgundy streamer thing across
shin area, lots of burgundy buttons down the front, carrying same
colored purse and same color collar thing that looks like a Xbehind
top of back.
Green dress woman with dark brown hair, other with brown hair.
Out of respect and being fair, Darcie should be entitled to have
first choice of her character's figure.
Women with shiny-looking long dresses, those are wrappers from
chocolates, and can easily be changed. I've stockpiled some other
flavors ( I mean colors ), so feel free to ask for what you'd like.
Am also willing to repaint or convert figures to your satisfaction,
if I am able.
My camera is only 1.3 pixels, pictures don't show figures to their
best. Better looking in person.
There are too many male figures to post most likely, so concerning
men, tell me what you're interested in looking like, I will send
pictures of those for your viewing hopefully.
Correction: in writing instructions last night, I was in error as to
the title of a 2nd season episode. Not Thicker Than Blood, as I
believe I wrote. Should be Thicker Than Water(episode#11). Sorry.
Florie and Twyla's figures are also available for anyone. We can
easier let them be another figure.
Also, all buildings are accessible from the roofs, as much of the
stories/episodes are acted out inside the buildings, just like TS and
TOY.
There are many inside items: whiskey bottles, beer mug, tables, piano
in Ambrosia, safe in bank, coffee pot and frying pan in hotel, too
many items to write now. But, one of our new ladies may be inclined
to use the frying pan on some cowboy's head. So, remember that inside
the building is just as important as outside.
If you would like more information or a list of town items, let me
know, and I'll oblige.
Consider this like an eighteen wheeler. Starting to move is slow, but
watch out once we get rolling!
Looking forward to hearing from all of you. craig newt2nd
If you are reading this, you have likely watched Lonesome Dove:The
Series, and/or Lonesome Dove:The Outlaw Years. We will carry on as
faithful fans the continuing stories/episodes of Newt Call, Clay
Mosby, and all other residents of Curtis Wells.
The game is based on a 98 page book of western skirmishs during the
1800's. The episodes will be lived out in the replica town of Curtis
Wells, a scale model representation.
All of the famous citizens of CW are already there ( there are 2
different Mosby's. One in a gray duster, the other in black ).
Each member that joins is allowed to create your own character to
come into CW and become part of a town we would all love to walk in.
There are many male and female figures (two and a half to three
inches tall ) to choose from. Figures can also be converted to meet
your favor.
You would write a little something to describe how your character
comes to Curtis Wells. Be creative, this is for all of us to enjoy!
We will decide as a group exactly where people are at the start of
the new series. Example: Is Austin sheriff, or not?
We will share in creating situations for each story/episode. Do you
want Willis Logan coming back to CW? Build a story around that. You
will email in your characters objectives and disposition for each
episode. Here is an example, not real, just to get a feel: Deb has
created a character named Hetty Biddle in her fanfiction. Just
pretend that she chooses her as her character. Miss Biddle would come
to CW to be a teacher, with plans to start up a library in town. Her
character would become part of the entire cast of town people.
For those wishing to carry guns and rifles, there are pages of
actual weapons to choose from ( not real ones, just ones that were
back then ), Obviously, Call and Mosby would be most likely better
shots than men coming to town.
The game is loosely based on phases, which represent seconds of
time. This adds to the reality of moving figures on the dirt-covered
streets.
No one can lose their character to death from someone else. At the
very worst, there can be serious injuries. There are numerous charts
that tell the severity of a wound. Cw will have gunfire at times,
this can hardly be avoided.
I will collect your actions and words, putting together many small
pieces to make one complete episode. There are always more than one
thing going on per episode ( remember Thicker Than Blood ).Our
characters will run into each other ( Mosby meets a new person at the
hotel ), and there are always possibilities of surprises.
Confusion and chaos can be alot of fun ( Willis Logan's men are
trying to rob the bank. Mosby's men are getting ready to shoot them
down. A group of drunk cowboys ride in hoorahing the town. Chaos
breaks loose ). Just an example. Draw from your western movie
knowledge. There are numerous possibilities to build upon.
Mainly, create a character and name. Pick a figure. If it's a male,
you may need to tell me what your outfit looks like, it might be hard
to put over 100 cowboy figures up for review.
Tell how you come to CW. Look at this as continuing episodes for LD.
Apologies for being long winded. Have faith LD sisters and brothers.
Craig has spared no effort in his creation and offered us a chance to share a unique and challenging experience. I sincerely hope those who love all things LD will choose to participate in a way which is meaningful and rewarding to them.
Welcome to the Curtis Wells RPG! I'm new at being moderator, so bear
with me. We'll see how this thing works out.
Now, whoever is to play a female role must choose a figure. Please
check out the photos section:

Fight amongst yourselves. Since Beauty and the Beast is my ALL TIME
FAVORITE MOVIE, I would normally choose Belle, but my character is to
be a waitress. She can't serve meals in fancy duds. So someone can
have Belle. WAH!
Anwyay, the details of this game will have to be explained by Craig.
I am completely new to RPGs.
Let's have a good time!
