A number of members have sent emails to the Owners of Code7R with concerns about
Viral memberships they have received invites to on our list. Currently Yahoo
Groups is unable to delineate between these messages and spam and passes them
through the servers to all of our members.
In each ocassion I have placed the member on moderated status, let them know
what has occurred and they have apologized for what transpired, their entire
contact list got hosed from the actions.
A few things to keep in mind:
1. Unless you want a viral membership to go out to your contact list, don't
click "YES".
2. If Code7R gets the message, you will receive a warning and be placed on
moderated status.
3. If a member of Code7R receives such a message, so long as you don't click to
accept the membership, it appears that you are safe from viruses or other
effects. These appear to be social groups rather than issues you need to be
overly concerned about. Click delete and empty trash. Problem solved.
4. Any questions, please contact the Owners.
I'd appreciate any input from other members on this topic. I see it as an
unfortunate spam opportunity from individuals who have nothing more fun to do
than write odd programs. A lot of good people are being fooled, and let's look
at this as a learning experience.
Keep the communication open!
