Night Heat was a crime drama filmed entirely on location in Toronto, Canada from 1985 to 1989. Using gritty realism it chronicled the professional and personal lives of detectives working the night shift in a large metropolitan city.
The shows premise involves Tom Kirkwood(Alan Royal) and his "Night Heat" feature. A popular column featured in the areas major newspaper "The Eagle" that details the toil and effort of his friends at Mid-South.
The series focuses on two men, Kevin O'brien(Scott Hylands) and Frank Giambone(Jeff Wincott). Kevin is a veteran cop who is mild mannered while his partner Frank is a hot-tempered, skirt-chasing rookie. They work out of the Mid South precinct with Lt. Hogan(Sean McCann), once Kevin's partner, who is their firm but fair boss. Kevin's girlfriend Nickie(Susan Hogan) is the widow of his previous partner and owner of "Nicole's", a lounge where most of the detectives hang out and discuss controversial, "things-aren't-always-black-and-white" issues. And last but not least is Whitey(Tony Rosato), a street snitch, who lives and works in the sleazy neighborhood where much of the criminal activity takes place.
